@TimelordR I think calling this an "RPG" is a bit of a reach. I recall it followed a common template for consoles of that era: move around a crudely-rendered pers
Many weren't aware but you could actually kill the monsters by ricocheting your shots before the they even appeared. Really came in handy in the harder levels.
Intellivision...good, underrated console. I've got this cartridge (it came when I got an Intellvision free from a friend-of-a-relative about 10 years ago...this was a few months before they became collectable) but I have never played this game. Not even once. Perhaps I should play it now?
That game is hard, no way in hell that little girl gets past even the first stupid rat. I was four when my dad bought this game, and I remember hiding behind the couch when the dragons were close by. I didn't like the snake sounds either. All of the sound effects from this game are ingrained in my memory. Remember counting arrows? Hearing only a few left was disheartening. Those bastard rats would steal them too.
Holy cats you just killed the dragon...I haven't seen this commercial since it first came out and I remember that line...funny the things we remember.
Imagine if modern video games were advertised like that... "Holy Crap little sister who is 7 years old and never played that game, YOU JUST KILLED SNAKE EATER"
I remembered I liked this game as a child....but was their any true ending? Or was it 1 of those games where it would just go on and on and on and on till you turned it off.
Yes, it had a true ending. When you got all three part of the Crown in the Large mountain. It would let out the omuinus hum, then show you out on the main map with ,now, your crown.
I liked the fact when you could hear the monsters, then almost Piss your pants when they came running after you growling and This was before Doom. Good times!
Man, I remember this game and how frustrated I was playing it. I love how you fire an arrow, it bounces around and hits you, turning you into some kinda freaky mini-tornado of man flesh and bone. Classic.
That's pretty funny...I was playing it even when this commercial was aired and even then, I thought I kinda sucked...it was too easy. Atari 2600's "Adventure" was so much more graphically primitive and yet was so much more playable...it was directly based on an arcade game called "Venture," if I remember right, which was grt. Good call.
Henry Thomas was the actor who played Elliot in E.T. Does sort of look like Timothy Hutton though. He's a talented guy, but he was like 20 when they shot E.T. That would've been some awesome acting.
funny thing is..I remember this very commercial and thought the girl was annoying then. Of course I still convinced the parents to buy me the game. The sounds of this game ruled, especially when you could hear an animal coming up ahead but could't see it yet. You'd get all super nervous knowing a dragon was about to jump your ass. And the sound of the snake...classic stuff..
maybe on the low level where you needed only to get through 3 mountains to hit the main boss... Id bet the bank you wouldnt get two away from the gate on the hardest level.

WTF are 7-year-olds doing with AD&D, anyway? Don't their folks know it's bad for children? (cue SpoonyOne)
