ekubalusabyan: Depends where your stuck on the frog stand. A couple of tips:
1. Put your hands as close to your feet as you can manage.
2. To shift your weight from your hands to your feet, just point your toes to tip your body forward
3. Practice on a soft surface, and get over the fear of falling you your head. Sounds silly, but it's good to fall on your head a few times to realise that it doesn't really hurt. Then you can practice with more confidence
@ekubalusabyan Cool, good luck with it! BTW, I meant to say "to shift your weight from your feet to your hands", not the other way around, but you probably already figured that out.
Frog stands, handstand pushups (against a wall), and tuck planche all help to build up the strength and balance you need for this move. You can probably find youtube tutorials on all of those if you do a search.
your back is disgustingly strong. i just got mine today, but i use some momentum and its nowhere near controlled as well as yours. but i will get there :D
Thanks! It took me a while to get strong enough to do this. Can you do a frog stand already? You'll want to be strong enough to hold a frog stand for at least 1min before you can do frog stand to hand stand.
That's a solid frog stand! Don't think I can even hold it that long. What are you like at tuck planche? I think tuck planche helps at lot for this move - you don't need to do the planche perfectly, bent arms are okay. Also, can you do handstand pushups (against a wall)? If you can do 5 or 10 of them, you should be strong enough for this.
If you think it's balance more than strength that's holding you back, how about practising on some parallets... then it doesn't matter if your head dips low...
What exercises do you do to get this skill. I have been doing handstand pushups against a wall and I can hold a still handstand without the wall for over 30 sec. I think it is my abdominal strength maybe that needs the work. please tell me everything you have done to get to the point that you are at. thank you very much. you are an inspiration to me.
The limiting factor for me was shoulder strength. Exercises that helped were hands-near-hips pushups (search for "my planche training" on youtube) and tuck planche (search for "building an olympic body" on google). Sounds like you have excellent balance if you can hold a handstand for 30sec, so you should have no problem learning this press. Good luck and happy training!
Thanks! I'm working on the tucked planche to handstand too. It's a little harder. I can do it with bent arms, but not with straight arms. Also working on L-sit to handstand (I saw your video of that move - nice!)
cool man im learning.... push ups that simulate handstand push ups but easier really help in strength gain for this.

Why the fuck was this in my recommended videos!?

I just learned how to do them! I'm 16 and don't have much upper body strength. You need a burst of energy and good form.

when you start out do you rest your knees on your elbows or just lift them
DamienKWelsh 2 years ago
I rest them on my elbows until I'm ready to push up and lift them... saves energy!

Nice video!
Could you please tell me each step you do in this press. I noticed that you have to lean forward but I just can't lift my self up

I'm able to do the frog stand for about 3 mins. But in the press I can't lift my body up, without teaching the floor with my head

I don't think that I'm able to do planche positions yet, but the handstand pushups sounds like something I could try.
Thanks for the help! :)
