Palin has a vested interest in keeping energy prices high as her government in Alaska is subsidized by big oil. In fact the sharp recent decrease in gasoline costs is hurting the Alaska treasury, making it harder for her to send welfare checks to her constituents at will. [BTW, Alaska receives much more in federal revenue than it contributes, making it a 'welfare state'].
Palin she is sooo great. she proves that women are far better and smarter than men. every woman has her own voice. she will be the president someday. we as women have fought for our rights for thousands of years and are finally winning. America will be ran by women someday. GO PALIN! WOMEN POWER!!
VP Palin gave one of best political speeches ever; she laid out openly before all to see her vast accomplishments, routing out corruption, and showed us that she has family issues just like the rest of us. And with a sense of humor too...unlike Barrack Hussein Obama who has not passed a law or done anything noteworthy as a US senator...Palin can and has brought real change...SI,se puede y que Dios te bendiga Sarah Palin!
Let's agree to drilling in ANWR and everywhere else environmentally sensitive if 100% of the "in ground" value of oil was collected via royalties and distributed yearly to every citizen of the US. This would only be fair because all of us create the "in ground" value of oil (and every other natural resource for that matter) and those of us who create the value ought to receive it rather than giving it away to oil companies that do not create that value. Alaska already does this to some degree!!!
If they open up Anwr to oil drilling, will the US government own all the oil? I believe the oil companies that set up the drills will own the rights to that oil and will sell it on the open market. That should bring the price down.
Why would the oil companies want to increase supply of oil, would that bring the price down. As you know, these oil companies are there to make money. They are not non-profit organizations.
Actually McCain picked her for her executive experience, which is considerably more than Obama's "do nothing" resume; oh sorry, he did support legislation preventing law-abiding citizens to own firearms for defending our families, allowing babies to not get medical attention because they survived a botched abortion, etc. Gee, a DOG gets treated better than that! By the way, find a copy of the old movie "Red Dawn"; we may be fighting the terrorists in our own backyard instead of theirs!
Beel1813: You are very insensitive to say the words you said about bringing my son home in a body bag. It could be your neighbor, you co-worker a family member, it is a human being no matter what party what color or race. It is a heart beating who is there overseas looking after us. No matter if the war was 4 the right or wrong reason. Please respect the military mothers who's heart goes for our soldiers out there. God bless the US. I love you son and I miss you.
God forbid, but if McCain dropped dead after only 1 day in office Palin can move right on up the ladder and run this country just as beautifully as she has managed everything else in her life!
Man......i love this woma.what has the democratic party been saying....they are for the littl;e people, the common man....Yet this common woman gets picked and you attack her.She preaches what she speaks. She is pro life and had her kid after knowing it had down syndrome...fought her OWN PARTY cause they were corrupt. This woman has five beautiful smart children and Her knowledge is incredible....Yet she can't be president but some state senator who makes a good speech can!!
ILuvBobbyDarin - "How in the hell did she ever get elected. Her bathing suit foto?"
Listen to you sexist, sexist liberals. If a woman doesn't drink your socialist kool-aid, she is just a dumb broad to you. We are just starting to see how base the Dems really are.
How long will it take to tap the oil reserves in Anwr? And how much oil is there? Will it have enough to quench America's thirst for oil? And how long will that supply last?
I'm not an "oil expert", but listening to most of the real experts who work in the industry (not the self-proclaimed ones like Pelosi and most of the liberal politicians), they say that we have more oil, natural gas, coal & oil shale within North America than all the petroleum & gas reserves in the entire Middle East. That's saying a lot! By the way, we need "clean coal", coal-to-oil, and other new technologies along with new nuclear plants & refineries to get out of this mess.
We might have a lot but at what cost to bring these oil out from the ground. Also, these vast land with oil potential is in the hands of the oil companies. They are not willing to increase oil production which will bring the price down. Oil companies are there to make money.
Funny how Obama says we'll be energy independent in 10 years.... exactly how do we do that since he's opposed to nuclear (the most viable, clean source of electricity), drilling for oil, building more refineries (which are needed if we are to process more oil that we drilled), etc. Hmm, maybe he's going to buy all Americans Trek bicycles with our tax dollars that he'll have lots of when he raises all the middle class and lower tax rates. We KNOW they'll spend more for sure!
The real funny part is Obama's own "blueprint for change" states something discrediting his 10 year statement:
"Obama will reduce oil consumption overall by at least 35 percent, or 10 million barrels of oil, by 2030."
2008 + 10 = 2030 ... something looks wrong here. But Obama supporters never bother to look at even the simplest of details, so Obama will never be questioned on this ... unless you make enough noise.
Sarah Palin will have a grass-roots positive effect together with McCain. Actually Obama should be the vice president of the democratic
ticket and Biden the president if you want to measure experience. Obama radiates an icon image and this is why the world outside the borders of America wants him. He is Iran's choice and the choice of those who love icon leaders. Putin of Russia is rubbing his hands and hopes you choose Obama ....um !
I think all Palin has in common with mccain is a secret deal with the oil gluttons. All she's rapping is drill drill drill! Watch out for presidents n their VP's in love with apparently easily accessible natural oil reserves.

This woman is in favor of murdering wolves from the air! Drilling in the Arctic National Refuge. She is a danger to the environment along with McCain. Joe Biden will wipe up the floor with her! No Pro-Choice woman will vote for her. How in the hell did she ever get elected. Her bathing suit foto?
"ILuvBobbyDarin" you are lame as heck, Danger to the environment? Do you drive anything that runs on gas/fuel? I would assume you do, so stop destroying our environment////get a bike. and murdering Wolves? You cannot murder an animal. People yes and animals NO. Yeah but you want the choice to murder a child, how thoughtful of you!
ILuvBobbyDarin says it all. This person is living in the past when gas was under $1 a gallon (yeah, I remember when it was about 49 cents a gallon in Hawaii). Obama's mantra of "change" is really just a sham when he goes and picks one of the oldest of the "old boys" for a running mate. Heck, that's like picking Senator Inouye who says he's "been a Christian all his life"! Wow, I can see that so clearly in his voting record! Just like Pelosi being a "catholic".
WTF are you talking about-"murder wolves from the air!" You cause more damage to the enviroment with your crack pipe than drilling in ANWR ever would.
We need to base our energy policies on present reality, not some Chilly Willy cartoon from 1973. And the reality is, let's let the people who know best do their job! Get the geologists to point their forked stick. And if the supermajors can make a business case, get those drilling machines in place and scare up some rigs! Sarah Palin is America's Yulia Tymoshenko--beautiful, intelligent, conservative. Understands energy policies. And trustworthy. McCain could pick a far worse VP candidate.

Will increase domestic production by 1% in 10 years. In the meantime, US consumption is going down.
The sliver of land she's talking about is the coastal plain and developing that will destroy the rest of the refuge.
How can a project that gives 250,000 jobs not affect the landscape. Come on.
She is totally irresponsible to the people, the landscape, totally owned by Big Oil.
