  • What is the gross weight of 8 axle units, ie 4axle truck + 4axle trailer.

We call them 8 wheelers in UK and with 2 axle trailer gross out at 44 tonnes max.

    Thanks, good video.

  • @billalbion That all depends on the tires & springs.

  • That Te Akau Mitsi at the start, is that the one that was in the magazine?

  • nah i think he meant the scania before its probs

  • Wow that is a cool truck at 1:05!!

  • @Stinkfist555 What, Te Kauwhata Transport?! Are you serious?

  • nice, used to drive old TM Detroit Bedfords between CH-CH and Hokitika through Arthurs pass Before the viduct was there. what a mission that was!!

  • Its nice to see the New Zealanders drive on the left hand side same as us British. Everytime I have seen other drivers in othewr countries, they drive on the right.

  • no it's not ferry terminal wellington is

  • our kenworths and freightliners in nz areso kool

  • What all do you know about trucking in New Zealand? Just curious. Been driving in the US for 15 years. What weight limitations, height, and width? Max gross is 80,000lbs or 36,281K here. How about hour of service or amount of time you can drive in a day or week.

  • max gross in nz is 44,000k with a maximum of 14hours a day on duty with 11 of those driving hours

  • How many axles for the 44,000K? I see most of your single trailers are tri-axle. It would be about the same weight here with that. Your driving hour are the same for us.

  • 8 axles gets 44,000K. Single tri-axles trailers can go to 39tonne normally. Are your guys service hours the same across the nation, or do they differ state to state?

  • Our hours of service nation wide is this. 70 hours max in a 8 day period. 14 hrs max during the day. Once you start the log, you must be parked in 14 hours regardless of breaks and meals or delays. 11 hours driving max in a day. 11 hour break each day. Once you hit any limits, your next day can not start until an 11 hour break is done. 34 hour break, you can start with a clean slate. 5 axle trucks most used with a gross weight of 80,000 pounds. 12,000 on steers, 34,000 drives and trailer

  • 70 hours a week, 13 a day with a max of 5 1/2 straight before a 1/2 hour rest, height is 4.25m width is 2.5m

    What do you drive?

  • I drive a flat bed. 48 foot fat with a volvo 740n. 475 ISX cummings motor. I run for Landstar. No set freight so I can haul just about anything. Largest so far is 14feet 6inches wide. I think that is 4.45 meters for you. Looks like your height is higher than ours. Heaviest single load was a 54,000 pound billet of metal.

  • nice video mate
