the surfer is "flea" and this wave is maverick in northen california,the transition between the beginning of the video and the end is a fake (It is located approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) from shore in Pillar Point Harbor just north of Half Moon Bay)so it's impossible to film maverick like this but the wipe out of flea is real,you can see this wave in "riding giants"
