Someone needs to explain to me how they took one of my all time frank sinatra songs (yes i know its not originally by him, dont bother pointing that out to me >.<) and turned it into a rock cover...That takes balls..
This version is badass. Compared to the original (Wich is one of the greatest songs ever written) makes it. It's different, but it's good in it's own way!
This is NOT from Senatra! The melody is based on a French song "Comme d'habitude" by Claude François and Jacques Revaux. and the Lyrics are from Paul Anka
By a happy coincidence i found this link - although i dont listen to this group, their version of My Way is amazing - voice of person, which sings this song proves, that "it is there", the ability to sing a song like this without shame, clear and listenable. Thx to Northern Kings group for this cover
The mere fact that they took on a frank sinatra classic was balsy enough.doing it this well,I bow to their greatnes and the godlyness of marco and his beard
Good God, Marco is amazing! Tony is pretty cool too, but damn... Marco is a Viking God. All of them are Scandinavian brilliance. My only regret is when I saw SA live, I didn't get to meet Tony. Meeting Marco made up for it though.
hahahahahahahahahahahaha you are such a good liar or you are just fucking stupid. I think (hope) that it's my second opinion, because then I can laugh at you XD
Scandinavia is a historical and geographical region in northern Europe that includes the Scandinavian Peninsula. It consists of the kingdoms of Norway, Sweden, and Denmark.
i come from finland so i don't need to use wikipedia, i know this stuff. even culturally finland isn't part of scandinavia. it's part of fennoscandia. you just need to look at some cultural things in those countries: the languages in norway, sweden and denmark are all alike, they're all north germanic languages. finnish is part of finno-ugric languages. they all have monarchies, finland is a republic.
Don't listen to Wikipedia, it is an open source web-site, meaning anyone can edit it and often i have found the great old wiki to be wrong on quite a few things.
Wow, you're an ass. No, I really did meet them! After the concert in New Orleans last September. Marco was cool as hell and stood outside for an hour to talk. Look it up though, house of blues. Met everyone but Anette because she ran on to the bus complaining of her feet hurting from her high heeled shoes. Bah, I suppose it doesn't matter if you believe or not, but Marco bit me too. Anyhoo, I'm going to see them again this May in Atlanta, so excited!
marco is amazingly cool.I got to meet them ouside their hotel in b-more every member took time to talk with me and like i said marco was way cool.I had him lughing really loud twice.Unce when i lit up for a pic with him and again when i said i wanted a pic with ewo since he was famous for saying "mouthwash".they are a great bunch of people
If people didn't cover songs like these in a more modern fashion, the songs in question would fade into obscurity, never to be heard again....but with guys like northern kings covering a song like this - assures a new audience will learn of this wonderful song....and it won't be lost to time.
@Taygun89 you're intolerant and closed. these guys did a good job. that you don't like it, that's another thing. think of how it would have been if the JONAS BROTHERS had done a version of this song. Fuck you and your intolerance towards metal. These are good musicians here with a professional career, and I would like to see you making a fine version of this song, you bitch.
@Taygun89 also. if you use gay as an insult it's probably because you don't want to accept yourself being gay. come out of the closet, you fag. I know I did (as bi) and I'm doing pretty well being the furfag I am.
@Taygun89 This song is about the power of will in retrospect. And NOTHING says "power" quite like metal. Especially when done this well by such talented performers. You are entitled not to like it, but don't even begin to assume that is in any way an objective opinion. The cover is incredible.

i was curious about this whole Finnish Supergroup Cover Band thing. but im sorry this sucks all the personality of the original and turns into a pompous opera metal number. The Training Montage cover is the only one i like so far
Have been listening to Metal half of my life, but never came across something called "Opera Metal", obviously nothing I missed.... I just wonder what makes Northern Kings music-wise different from any other "normal" Heavy Metal?
Northern Kings a'int 'opera metal', in fact it isn't a sub-genre of metal. But an actual sub-genre called 'melodic metal' often employs operatic vocals. So idiots generally associate metal with vibrato as 'opera metal'. I'd consider this heavy metal or possibly melodic metal. Though it's hard to categorize a cover song...it's really just a metal'd-up version of an old song, lol.
Didn't they themselves call themselves an Opera group? Because of the way they perform?
They do just "metalize" songs, but the way they sing them is different from simple melodic metal.. which can also be argued upon as being a true sub genre.
Maybe, but 'symphonic metal' generally implies use of symphony instruments in the music, classic strings (violin, cello, etc) and brass (trumpet, tuba, etc) usually, occasionally wood (flute, etc). A good example of symphonic metal is Nightwish. Though there is a small amount of symphonic elements to this song, in my opinion not enough to justify it as symphonic metal. But ya know really, since the group is just singers maybe the group could possibly be called 'opera metal' but not the music :P
@CorydorasArcuatus Hmm...I want to say imagine old nightwish (tarja's singing style) with metal/power metal. Only difference is that they're classified as symphonic metal..
Someone needs to explain to me how they took one of my all time frank sinatra songs (yes i know its not originally by him, dont bother pointing that out to me >.<) and turned it into a rock cover...That takes balls..

Ah you use the politic way, but when you are talking about historic and cultural then it is Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Finland.
well that is what the dutch wikipedia says, I know you took your things from the english wiki XD

One of the million sub-genres of metal.
Northern Kings obviously belong in that group.

Nightwish doesn't use any of that =)
They have a keyboardist. But yeah who cares about genre... as long as it sounds good.

I meant older Nightwish, sorry :) They are more progressive now I think.
