  • This guitar is made to feel 12 year old kids feeling hardcore, and to learn some chops. When they'll mature, they'll get a Jackson or ibanez etc. What's all the hate spitting about? You know that a 20 year old would never get one. About the high end custom ones, it's a different ballgame. However for the $ rather get a gibson

  • I was not expecting the shit that started up at 2:47. Makes me want a first act.

  • my first electric was a slammer hamer. my first guitar period was a no name brand classical with a warped neck

  • It was a first act blue les Paul body type guitar with a white pick guard. Lol there

  • My very first guitar was a blue les Paul body type with a white pick guard. Lol still have it too.

  • Hahahahahahahaha, metal inspired pick guard...

  • 2:33 - Whammy bar fail Hahaha

  • I love how the whammy bar DOESN'T work.

  • Actually First Act has been around for many years and started out building custom guitars only. They have a "youth series" of course, but they build some high quality guitars as their mainstay. I have one of the Garagemaster guitars (which has the same electronics as this model,W/ Delia styling) and the thing plays awesome. Excellent action and set-up from the factory and the thing screams harmonics . Those who put down First Act, have simply never played one.

  • I love first acts. Once you oil up the fretboard, and change out those god awful strings, they're great. And let's face it, once you're playing metal, everyone is gonna scream at you to get active pickups. So eventually you will, and this just begs for SD blackouts. Which will happen as soon as christmas is over. :)

  • cheapo Bullshit, go back to making toy guitars!

  • yea i bought 1 ........yea i regret it

  • Shit, it's still a first act, shit crap. BULLSHIT GUITARS

  • Clearly first act guitars are perfect for that "my first guitar" I mean they're $50.... You cant complain about shit for $50.

  • I can put that boost switch in my ass and fart a heavier sound than that...

  • I came here to feel superior with my MIM tele. All the les paul videos got me depressed.

  • Wow, I think I finally have found a tone better than Eric Johnson's!!!

  • Its not the guitar that counts, its the player...

  • First act has 1 good guitar. Its the First Act ME 636 i believe. Its a decent guitar

  • how much FirstAct paid you to try to sell that piece of shit?

i get to the conclusion that FirstAct guitars, SUCKS!!!

  • they retuned it every time there is a new take in the video...

  • LOL at 2:27 he tried to do an artificial harmonic but that piece of shit guitar wouldn't muster it!

  • this guitar has horrible sustain. u can hear it as hes playing. first act guitars are absolute trash.

  • He had to use so much reverb just to make the guitar sound partially decent. This guitar is a piece of shit, but a lot of artists are using their customs nowadays. Mastodon, Saviours, Converge. If you want to buy a first act guitar, get a custom.

  • omfg y does first act have to suck so much

  • you know that this sounds okay becuase of the amp..

  • Placing a kitten in a blender makes a heavier metal tone

  • Piece of shit guitar.

  • I can't frakin believe THAT is coming out of a goddamn fisrt act. I am thoroughly impressed.

  • i had a f.a. -i hated it-i busted it up...sounded like crap.i also found a 15 w. pratice amp in the clearance isle at WallyWorld for 10 bucks-no lie, now the amp was decent, and lasted 8 yrs.....

  • i found one of these in a parking lot. not strings, missing some shit at the bottom, but i got it fixed up for cheap. its a GREAT learning guitar. its fun to play .. and.. for free i cant stay anything bad about it.

  • Oh god. As soon as he started playing the clean effect I cringed.

Bill Kelliher and Matt Pike use custom first acts. How the hell do they sound so good?

  • i have a fender squier and an ibanez gio which are great guitars. these crap guitars come from wal-mart! i have an acoustic first act, and it is the worst guitar i've ever had. i'm gonna smash it one day. it doesn't have a good sound, and it probably has lead paint

  • @NukleheadMcSpazatron -smash the fuck out of it. i think these guys made chainsaws before they made music stuff-ALL their axe,s SUCK-i,ll wait till these go on sale for 40 $ ,then SMASH IT !

  • putting a condom on my schlong makes a heavier metal tone

  • a rubber band/tissue box guitar sounds better

  • I bet the majority of the people who have watched this video searched "First act guitar" just to talk crap about it...

(I did lol, first act sucks)

  • never buy a first act guitar........ ever

  • i bought this and i tried to play technologic by daft punk but, the distortion and volume was maxed out and the amp broke :(

  • I'm going to buy this, then bring it to a high-class jazz gig just for kicks

  • @tonyhighflyer911 BAAAHHARRRRHHAHLARAAHHAAHHHAHAH!!! lololololol XD ;D

  • The first riff was terrible

  • ok cual es la diferencia del tremolo y el wah

  • All pole worry about is the brand and type of guitar! JUST PLAY UR DAMN GUITAR

  • Comment removed

  • I don't even play guitar and that sounds bad, especially the E string... Nice picguard though.

  • por que no se oye el tremolo osea el whaa

  • @petermetal55 Porque es una mierda de guitarra. Y el tremolo y el wah son cosas muy diferentes, aunque si suena como "wa".

  • Why do people ahte these guitars so much?I have one and its perfect if you know how to play.

  • So if i have a metal inspired pick-guard i will have an easier time playing metal?

  • @HoudiniLogix ,if thats where you get your inspiration from..LOL.

  • @Tscorp65 Gotta love first act guitars :D hahahahaha.

I wonder if they sell talent stomp-boxes?

  • @Tscorp65 lulz

  • your best bet as a beginner is a used guitar from a decent company. you may spend a little more getting a quality acoustic used than a cheapo acoustic, but if your first guitar lasts you a lifetime of music, it was the right choice.

  • That.... kinda sounded bad.... But even to get a tone that decent out of a First Act, he must have been playing through the world's best amp. I hate this company so much. I started on one and even as a beginner I hated it. I don't like the "learn on crappy equipment and get something better later" philosophy. I think you're more motivated to play when your music sounds good.

  • FIRST ACT SUCKS EVERYONE. Even when I first started guitar, I knew not to get one. Anyone who thinks they are even the slightest bit descent, they are retarded.

  • @MrGuitarcollector5 oh look, the douche bag again...

  • @diceman1000 Really man, Your english is so well put with you calling me a douche on EVERY video. Your vocab is so much broader than anyone I have ever met man. These guitars are not articulated at all and can barely get anything from them. Im 17 man and Ive already done so much for myself. How many 17 year olds do you know are a Co-manager at a music store, teach lessons and have better language than an older adult. NOT MANY!

  • @MrGuitarcollector5 I do and FYI its really the guitarist not the guitar player. I have more than one guitar and on my firstact I would tear you apart. you're probably a garbage guitar player strumming in Drop D thinking you're heavy

  • @Rikusorakh1Prod Ok, I hardly play drop D, Im not much of a metal guy but more of the minor blues and 80s rock guy. I play E standard so your wrong right there. Im pretty sure that they dont make a shitty musician a manager at a music store, And my students would realize that I suck and dont know anything and I wouldnt give lessons. But im the opposite of everything you said so there. Go ahead and try to Tear me apart. And FYI, The guitarist and guitar player are the same thing.

  • @MrGuitarcollector5

    Prove it.

  • @MrGuitarcollector5

Have you ever played a first act?

  • @LostMusicalMeanings yes, yes I have. Many kinds because I work in a music store.

  • @MrGuitarcollector5 haha! tim mctague used a first act, on stage and in the studio..

  • @masterbeat04 Umm, I dont even like underoath but tim doesnt use first act. He has a gibson SG that he uses normaly. The other guitarist uses a first act. Its a "higher end" first act but I still wouldnt use it.

  • @MrGuitarcollector5 nope, he switched already i think... he threw his sg at aaron gillespies final gig with them... and he used a first act les paul...

  • @MrGuitarcollector5 First act was my first guitar and I got made fun of by one of my friends when I brought it to school.... haha

  • i love dumbasses, i was at somones house and i saw a first act acoustic and i picked it up and was gona give a play, and the whole fuckin room full a ppl were yellin noooo! put that down thats dude mans guitar he paid alota money for it and its a nice guitar and such, hahaha!!! i never knew toys r us carried "nice" guitars. people have no knowlege of what a good guitar is. i can take a emptie tissue box and a paper towel roll and use rubber bands for strings and tell ppl its a nice axe! buy it!!

  • @dimebaghudson What guitar would you recommend dude? I got a piece of shit first act guitar. The only thing I'm gonna use the first act guitar for is the zombie invasion.

  • @souljadarko it depends on what you play like what style music. if ur into metal they make some good ltd guitars or epiphones or jacksons. i play a dean from hell, but your best bet is to go into your local guitar shop and play around on the guitars and ask the dude man what he thinks. your guitar DOES NOT have to be usa made to be a good guitar, half of the usa les pauls play and sound almost 99% the same as the over seas les pauls but in no way would i play this guitar int he video haha

  • @dimebaghudson Thanks dude!

  • maybe that guitar is a faulty one cause i have one and the trem works well

  • oh man LOL, at around 1:14 after he tries to use the trem, he's talking and looking in the camera, and YOU CAN SEE IT IN HIS EYES. ROTFL he's thinking "....oh gawd...this guitar just sucks..."

  • What a fail tremolo I agree with all previous comments

  • lol i also noticed that the tremolo didnt do anything...i dont like this guy as a reviewer, he usually plays bluesy or indie shit when he reviews, particularly annoying when he's reviewing a high gain amp which is meant for metal and hard rock.

  • Metal series guitar? There ain't no way that nobody is going to play no metal with that insane amount of twang (probably due to the cheap pickups)

  • sounds like a cheap cheap cheap epiphone sg and i really mean CHEAP

  • @MetalInstrumentals I would still give the epiphone the upper hand because it has a stop bar.... so better tuning stability, i used to have an epiphone sg special i put grover locking tuners on it and emg's and it was okay but the guitar still had some funky fat tones.... like this one sortof..... save your money and get something better. for about 250 you can get a faded g400 which are pretty decent... especially for the money

    or a cheaper esp ltd

  • @brt927 i agree with you the epiphone sg special are bad but you can mod them and get good tones from them but its better to save your money and get an OK guitar

  • The trem does...nothing.

  • lol 3;03

  • holy shit i am amazed!!!! this "guitar" sucks so fucking much...

  • this guitar sucks. i should know Because i own it. out of a 1-5 i give a -1.

  • you guys do know that although this particular guitar IS NOT ONE OF THEM ,they do make high end boutique quality instruments also ,right?i live in minneapolis ,and there is a place in the burbs i love called american band &guitar and they carry them, serious as a heart attack, and these were american made also, you didnt think adam levine played that junk did you ?

  • A own a first act guitar and have to say much beter built than big brand cheaper end models. Good guitar if in a lower price range.

  • Where can I buy this guitar?

  • @MegaKoga Walmart, toys r us, don't even try to buy this crap bro.

  • @Macsk8ing Yo man, guess what? I got one. And I've replaced the Bridge pickup with an alnico Large slug 636 pickup, the neck with a fat tone fatbucker, the tremolo bridge with a double locking floyd rose, I wired a battery to the boost switch, and replaced the neck with a mitey mite ebony fretboard neck. This thing blows fenders out of the water, guess what? it cost less than the price of a shitty squier.

  • @MegaKoga Well, anything you do on that guitar, you can't take the brand off, so it still sucks, why this one? With that money you could of got a nice branded guitar like LTD or Jackson middle priced guitars, but hey, it's your money, not mine =)

  • @Macsk8ing you know, I actually hate jacksons. And LTD is a useless brand with limited selection. So, with that in mind, my custom does reign supreme. I'm taking it out to guitar center, and various shops. When I finish, I'll upload a compilation video, and you can see

  • @DeizelMassacre im not saying he sucks, i just hate ads. espically guitar ads. they have a beast guitar player play it and it sounds great, but unless you know what you're doing, you cant replicate that. thats why. but it is a beginner guitar after all.

  • Everyone has to eat. walmart wants to write me a check to do a review for some of their junk -just make it payable to my wife (plausible deniability!). oh yeah, i almost forgot. do you guys think you could send one of those Richard Nixon masks with the jun-first act? just throw it in the cas...my bad, they don't come with one?

  • I laffed through the whole video LLOLOLOL.

  • yep... buy this guitar and you can automatically play everything he can instantly... but only on this guitar... i hate guitar ads...

  • the me675 has a beter sound even tho its cheaper

  • Good cleans, but distortions a little thin... change the pups and bridge [if you want a nice bridge] and you'd be set

  • the pick guard is very cool

  • @HKDrider it looks like a ballsack

  • you know for a crap guitar this dosent sound half as bad as i thought it would

  • @XFXHITMAN No it doesnt, but sadly music, like many other hobbies, is absolutely full of gear snobs that have lost sight of the point (If they ever saw it to begin with.).

  • the floyd rose probably costs more than the guitar

  • i got the me675 exactly same w/o boost switch and a diff head its decent but nothing lik a ibanez xpt700 or a gibson les paul

  • u van here its not in tune at 2:31

  • I like the boost gain switch but it would suck ass through a good amp high gained pups and add that to the mix and to top it off a distortion pedal, feedback heaven is what that will do. or you can get a swedish death metal tone, ala dismembered or grave

  • this being a custom shop its still first act... they're shitty company and wal mart got the company i took guitar lesson's at shut down.

  • @PoppinDingy Dude their custom shop guitars are amazing. Give them a listen.

  • Ehh i think im gonna stick with my Les Paul stuido over some junk

  • First acts suck. You would have to change the string gauges to get heavy sound, change the pick, and I bet when you get it out the box, it's not evn tuned. I play metal and to me 3:41 to 3:50 is a lie.

  • @sabin3030 A tuned in guitar has more strain on the neck and in shipping the conditions are guitar are in vary greatly. Wood can shrink or expand with temperature and humidty changes and if there are drastic changes while the strings are tuned tight it can cause warping of the neck, which is why you should never ship a guitar in tune.

  • in my opinion for a wal-mart guitar, this doesnt sound bad at all. first act doesnt suck, they're just CHEAP. for a begginner register guitar, this bad boy can pump some sounds, compare it to a squier strat and think about it.

  • @sasukeuchihalb this isnt a wal-mart guitar, this line i believe is between the walmart guitars and their custom shop

  • @bladecatcherX99 ohhhhh. well, im a bassist, ha. ive tried first act electric guitars, and they are pretty good if you play through a decent amp. but a first act AMP is a total piece of shit.

  • @sasukeuchihalb yeah their guitar's are decent, i know this one sounds like my $99 Squier... but true, their amps are a disgrace for human ears.

  • @Arvak777 damn right!

  • Floyd not working? xD

  • metal players dont look for this tone they shot this tone in the face and get some fucking emgs!!

  • @kalmahman48 EMGs are too cold for my tastes... passive gets a more crunch and real sound

  • shit this guitar would be perfect for acdc because it totally captures angus young's sound, thin and extremely cold vintage!!!! AKA like shit!!

  • i like how first acts arent shitty any more, they are just made for something you wanna jam out on without spending a shit ton of money.

  • @hottaco11 They never WERE shitty guitars, man; that's just the perception people had (call it prejudice, shallowness, superficiality; whatever you will) because their best sellers & "biggest gigs" were as cheap but SURPRISINGLY PLAYABLE stuff that was available at Wal-Mart.

MY first impression was that I wished we'd had guitars this good for this cheap when I was a kid! The Kays, Normas, etc. you could pick up for under $100 back then were mainly "finger bleeders!"

  • bet they had to stop and start to tune it ;)

  • @tburn66 But maybe they didn't! I've got an ME-951 that I've done back-to-back takes of the Free Bird project on my channel with that stays in tune surprisingly well; to say nothing of the fact that I've yet to achieve back-to-back "keeper" takes of what is still the world's only true 1-guitar arrangement of Free Bird on any other axe but the Wal-Mart cheapie that I scored for $40.

And that includes a Stratocaster, a Prodigy, a Patriot, & a Les Paul!

  • Ive always said an elevator smells different to a midget.

  • ive always said that first act guitars are what 2 buy if your bored and want 2 fuck around with a guitar

  • i hate first act guitars, but i like the blue LED on the boost switch

  • ewwww

  • 2:35 wtf? no surprise there lol

  • Scratchplate/pickguard looks really nice... body seems ok too... Neck = No. Just no.

  • The body looks nice with the design but cmon did they get lazy making the neck. The neck looks fuckin cheap. The guitar still kinda sounds a lil shitty compared to other guitars. Id recommend a squier strat instead of this.

  • It's definately the best sounding First Act I've ever heard....but it's still a First Act....

  • @Draco12002 best sounding? Ha! There are custom us models that sound really good

  • @Kingddd333 As I said, the best I've heard. If you could find a video demonstrating one of their better instruments, I would definately look into it.

  • @Draco12002 But it is really good for the LOW END first acts X3

  • uh the whammy doesnt work at all. and First Act stuff is just shitty.

  • mine is ME4002 ROCK one... its awesome and it only costed me $34.99

  • Paul looks like Michael J. Fox .

  • Why would someone give a "Review" on the sound...When we all can hear it right now?

This is a slicker feeling more solid Feeling guitar than many High dollar Guitars I have played.

  • I like how he used the whammy bar and it didnt work

  • @joeydabomb7 i have this guitar and my tremolo works Great

  • @joeydabomb7 quality guitars

  • This guitar is Actualy a very nice guitar..It is great for Rock just the way it is. But yes if you want HEAVY Metal you could get a little hotter pickup.

It feels very comfortable ..and holds a tunning well.

(and the tremblo Does work ...I don't know why he didn't really use it?)

  • "Metal" series...hmm, really?

  • well, i'l leavea fast review for the curious and soon to be sad purchasers of this guitar..this guy playing..sounds amazing ona good guitar..atm, he looks like a douche, this guitar's clean tone..blows, its the normal sound a bad guitar makes, he's just trying to cover it with diminishing chords..not even that can hide the awful sound.distortion is shit..get better out of a milk bottle with a wire in it..this guitar as others have said..is a fail.i dont hear metal..i hear walmarts cash register.

  • i think the pickups sound like shit to be honest, if you switch them it would be great

  • most buzzing guitar ever lol hahahaha

  • Yeah, there's absolutely no crunch in those pickups. "Metal series". Yeah right.

  • 0:22 Devil horn those pickups. Fuck yeah.

  • First Act = Fail Act

  • since when has first act made anything decent?!?!?! tht shitsw trash you can get at fricken toys r us for 100 bucks honestly had one for my first guitar wat the hell is this! haha i need watever amp hes got if it makes a first act sound like tht i wonder wat itll do for my schecter haha XD

  • @tjbwhatshisface Apparently their custom shop guitars (like the ones Brent Hinds from Mastodon plays) are pretty good. Their picks are also nice.

  • @tjbwhatshisface You obviosly don't know anything.

  • Can anyone tell me if those are real songs he's playing? BTW, Youtube should be renamed adtube.

  • Garbage guitar.

  • Impressions from this video: Guitar sound is decent, maybe a little muddy on mid-gain settings. Boost is a really cool feature. Clean sounds also decent. Definitely on par with, say, a Squier's tone. Whammy bar was probably not set up too well in the factory and should be adjusted to taste by the buyer. I've heard the neck is quite comfortable on this model as well.

I'm trying to be as objective as possible with this post.

  • funny last time i checked serj from system of a down sing and does not play guitar for the band so yeah i guess if you don't play guitar first act is the right choice.

  • @diehigher Well matt pike from high on fire and baroness has a custom 9 string first act and both guitar players of mastodon are noted first act users

  • I had this first act guitar that was almost identical to a les paul but slimmer. I gutted it and put emgs in it and it sounded pretty bad ass

  • this was my first guitar its not bad but the tremolo does suck. it is great for begginers like i was it can get someone started on guitar for a cheap price

  • Like others have said already, not all first acts a as crappy as the ones at walmart but that the fact that they are sold by walmart make me thing they are not serious about building guitars therefore I won't go so far to even touch one. You can only dress up a terd so much.

  • @diehigher hey first act has guitars that get up to 21000 $ freakin serj from system of a down plays one'

  • First Act = Fail

  • So... does that tremolo bar do ANYTHING?

  • i have a first act guitar is shite i h8 it but even though my mum and dad got for me as a xmas present when some prick-ass twat in asda coned my parents top buy it for me saying its really good yeah BULLSHIT! IT NEVER STAYS IN TUNE!

  • Can anyone tell me what is the tab for 1:20?

  • what a piece of shit

  • I bet most of you "guitarists" dissing the First Act metal series can't even play adequately. It all depends on who's playing the guitar. You can make a semi low quality brand, such as First Act, sound good with even a medium level of guitar experience. So before you go dissing, practice, and then try it for yourself. Because of right now most of you are basing your opinions off of labels and people who think they can play. Just see for yourself.

  • @DefyTheSilence yeah i like people who diss first act but mastodon plays them and they sound fucking greast

  • @CHICKMAGNET66666

But they play custom-build first acts, which are pretty expensive, probably around $1500-$2000 The ones that you find in wal-mart (this one included) are probably cheaply made. Some proof would show how faulty the tremolo is, look how much he struggles to use it, and it still doesn't work.

  • @themodernguitarist very true the wal mart ones are cheap but first act does make 1,000 dollar guitars that ive heard are pretty sweet as you mentioned

  • @CHICKMAGNET66666 Finally, somebody who knows about their Hot US customs that proffessionals even use

  • @DefyTheSilence Dude exactly. Most of those trash talkers are the type who put the tools before the talent, thinking the 1k+ rigs mom and dad buy for them automatically make their garage band pro.

  • I wish I could play this well. I will in the future with practice, but not right now.
