Para convertir a PR en un estado federado, se necesitaría enmendar la Constitución de Los Estados Unidos. Y además, qué PR gana siendo estado? Impuesto a la vivienda, pagar obligatoriamente las Contribuciones Federales y estatales, no recibir Beca Pell (PR es el único terr que recibe Beca Pell, a todos los estudiantes). En EU se les da la Beca Pell a los que tienen honor o deportiva. Que los niños paguen la comida del comedor escolar.... The Federal Statehood it's shit.

@pr5021. Bueno... tienes una idea más o menos correcta. Lo que sí te puedo decir es que el convertirnos en una república independiente sería más beneficioso... Si ha comprobado de que a través del libre comercio, PR agregaría de ingresos anualmente unos 30 billones, que con las migajas federales, recibimos más que sólo 9 billones. Las franquícias americanas que hay en PR se llevan del país en ingresos netos más de 19 billones. Personalmente pienso que PR podría ser exitoso.

@Fitoldo hmmm, that's funny. i lived and worked in the US for some time and i remember hearing MANY accents, so im not sure what your point really is.

however, i do agree that most of these people (pro-stetehood puerto ricans) are walking contradictions. they want to be all-americans but most of them suck at english and have little or no knowledge of american cultural trends of history. not even pop-culture. in my opinion that shows very little interest in the country they call their own...
