  • @DieselSmoke92 Yeah, it was kind of funny!

  • @TrainGeek haha! i bet you jumped...

  • @DieselSmoke92 A little bit!! :)

  • @TrainGeek xD don't worry when im up close like that i jump sometimes since your not sure if he will or not and you can never estimate the loudness since its different every time.

  • I must say, you guys are real troopers for living through those harsh winter days...I'm from Texas, and if it ever gets below 60 degrees, everyone thinks their freezing to death lol

  • are you on a bridge? 0:37

  • @radanju3 Yes, the Arlington Street bridge.

  • @TrainGeek cool

  • Was the old Alexandria Hotel situated there. I used to play on the Empress of Dufferin when it sat outside the hotel. Haven't been back to Winnipeg since 1964

  • @henerymag It's still there... one of these days I have to go take a picture of it.

  • @TrainGeek I heard the old girl had been moved to a museum. I hope so, some place nice, not left out to rust away.

  • @henerymag The Countess of Dufferin is in the Winnipeg Railway Museum - google for it and look at the locomotives tab. It is being well taken care of.

  • @thefbitch Sorry mate your not even close. Weston doesn't even come close in size. CN alone has atleast 3 yards that are bigger. Mac, Walker, and Symington.

  • @SierraMike100 I agree.. but I think this comes from a fact I saw recently that the CP Winnipeg yard was *once* the biggest in the Commonwealth.

  • Great video from a great city!!!

  • WESTON YARD IS THE BIGGEST TRAIN YARD IN THE WORLD I LIVE IN WINNIPEG AND SOMETIMES I GO AND CHECK OUT THE TRAINS.

  • the 3 people who disliked this video just need to go back to CSX or something.

  • love seein the roof detail! and its always kind cool to have the crews tip their hat to ya :P

  • @BlackCavalier52 I always like the hat tips :)

  • Do they still have those barns?

  • @skinnyshit8888 Yes they are still around here and there.

  • is it true the Weston yard in Winnipeg is ONE of the largest train yard in the world?

  • @jockottawa I have no idea :) It's fairly big but I would imagine there are larger ones.

  • @jockottawa Union Pacific Railroas Baily Yard in North Platt, Nebraska is in the Gunius Book for being the biggest in North America. The Largest Railyard in the world is in Japan out of all places. The largest and longest railroad in the World is the the Russian State owned Railroad system.

  • @onrr1726 I DON'T KNOW WHERE U GOT THAT INFO BUT I JUST RECENTLY HEARD ON THE NEWS THAT WINNIPEG HAD THE LARGEST.

  • @thefsbitch IS YOUR CAPSLOCK BROKEN TOO?

  • @jockottawa I think CN's Symington Yards on the east side of the city used to be one of the biggest.

  • @jockottawa I think CN's Symington Yards on the east side of the city used to be one of the biggest.

  • @jockottawa I LIVE IN WINNIPEG IT IS THE LARGEST IN THE WORLD

  • i live in winnipeg and i just found out winnipeg has the biggest train yard in the world if you want to see a lot of 'red barn' units go to the crossing at the intersection of munroe at the intersection on molson.

  • does the engineer flash the lights for you?

  • @caparad Yes I think he did... there is no crossing there

  • Man....!! Check this Red Barn sound out ,and then check out my video(Idling Along High Bridge). This is why I use Soundtraxx Tsunami Sound Decoders !!!!!!!!

  • Man.... That can put me to sleep like a lulaby!!!!

  • in the second clip, you cant even tell that there is a track there!! Looks like the polar express!

  • Nice!

  • The trains can't slip off the tracks because of the snow?

  • @CoupeGrace No, the train won't slip off unless there is a huge pile of snow or ice. These engines are very, very heavy and a little snow doesn't bother them.

  • What the f is a "red barn"?

  • @saskstoner It's the type of engine seen after 0:58 in the video. They are unique to Canadian Pacific and are somewhat rare.

  • That's an SD40 I think. Never heard that term before.

  • Yep, both of the units in that part of the clip are SD40-2 units but the "red barn" has a full cowl, while the rear one has an exterior walkway.

  • @saskstoner There are only 25 in existence. CP Rail wnated more SD-40's, but GM had moved on to the SD-50. They agreed to build a fleet of SD-50's to SD-40 specs. These are the SD-40F's or "red barns". They operate mostly in western Canada but do venture east once in a while.

  • Oh man... a red barn! Darn those are hard to find! I saw one last month in Edmonton, but it was in such a highly fenced off area and the light was so poor that i didn't get very good pictures of it :( I hope to see one when i go to medicine had this summer.

  • Seemed like the engineer blew the horn under you intentionally.

    Love the Barn engines.

  • Red Barns??????????? For a second there I thought they were refering to me....

Prof RedBarns BS. As I like to photograph red barns and trains too !!!!!!!!!

    Great video!

  • I've been trying hard to find a red barn. Nice catch!

  • red barn?

  • Wide Body, or Cowl unit.

  • Nice catch of a Red Barn too!

  • Awesome!

  • where is weston yard? I Live in winnipeg

  • Maybe I have the name wrong - it's the Canadian Pacific yard downtown. The shops in the background of this video are the Weston shops, or at least they used to be called that.

  • Well you are wrong, the yard is called Winnipeg Yard, and the shops are called Weston Shops

  • Nice! Those red locomotives really stand out against the snow on a sunny winter day eh?.
