  • If you want to be REALLY Orthodox, Devorah ruled Israel, and there were 7 women prophetesses according to Rambam, so Sara Hurwitz can be a Rabbi.

  • @serviceoftheheart doesent matter she still cant be a rabbi it breakes halacha 100% also devorah didnt "Rule" she was just a judge who helped israel.

  • Who needs orthodoxy of any kind? Nice try to fit together Medieval values and 21st century. Words of an ex-orthodox Jew.

  • I wonder if this would be an issue if women were treated a little differently.. not better just different.. As a feminist but also a jewish woman..I would prefer a different role for women to Help each other rather than having to reveal embarrasing things to a male..In all honestly is still prefer a male rabbi but maybe there should be a more compasionate way to approach delicate female issues

  • Anybody who seriously thinks women can't be rabbis or can't be in a minyan (etc, etc, etc) is a half-wit.

  • @thorkyll you are confused, no one believes that women "cant", be a rabbi, as in, no one thinks a woman is incapable of filling the position of rabbi. It the symbolism of the mans duty in the context of the Torah and the whole bible, the man is given specific instructions to do specific things. What maybe you are meaning to say is: Anybody who takes the God or the Bible seriously is a half-wit. Maybe you are a bigot.

  • Well, maybe "whittling away (some of) the foundations of Orthodoxy (but not all)" is a VERY GOOD IDEA. Even if EVERY ASPECT OF (Modern) ORTHODOX JEWISH RITUAL LIFE were equalized between the genders, such as women counting towards a minyan and getting aliyot and female rabbis leading services, Orthodoxy would still be very distinct from Conservatism and Reform. Don't worry about that. The floodgate argument doesn't fly. Let women take their rightful and equal place among the most observant Jews.

  • @baroqueboy at the point you speak, it is no longer orthodox.

  • Excellent discussion. It's a bold and important step for Orthodoxy to make.

  • i like the way you think and talk about this issue--you understand both sides.

  • In the metaphor, are women chicken or milk? I have no interest in laining or paskinining or all that - but still want to be treated with respect.

  • i liked this vid! thx

  • nice new backround... green screen!

  • Meh, screw all religion. Problem solved.

    Atheism for the win.

  • is she gay?

  • @zeishs1 You can tell her sexual orientation through the type of snood she wears. The more wind resistance there is in a snood, the more likely a woman is to go the other way, I'm pretty sure that's what heshy says.
