  • Long live the man so many wanted to be!

  • I was shocked when I first saw him here as I'd come from the vid of him when he was first enjoying the success of this song. But then, it's most awesome to see someone doing what they love at all ages. If he can get up out of a chair, get dress, get to a concert and pull it off, more power to him! Ronnie James Dio was the same. always singing right to the end.

  • He looks like a mix between the crypt keeper and Clint eastwood

  • @73ford250 That's what happens when you get old. Just hope and pray that you don't look like him when you are his age.

  • Man, how the years go by. Didn`t realize he had gotten this old. If you grew up in the 70`s, these songs were in the soundtrack of your life. Glad to see him still kicking, although it kind of pains me to see him looking so frail...

  • @timinla64 the 8 track sound trackm that is!

  • Love you, Gordan, all the way from the Bahamas!!!

  • we all get better when we're feelin' no pain.

    Thanks. Gordo.

  • Great artist, great songwriter. I'm sure I'm just one of millions of Gordon Lightfoot fans who are so happy that Gordon has been able to continue to get up there on the stage and do what he does best. My favorite GL song is "Early Morning Rain."

  • all i can say is when we lose music like this it sucks . im a 34 year old man that grew up on him. what a lose to me, i love the atraight up voice and the things like good music in my house he gave me sundown oh my great singer song writer love ya ,mr sundown

  • The man still got the greatest voice, love this song.

  • I saw the first concert after his stroke....in Whitewater, Wisconsin at the Young Auditorium.....three days after he had his stroke!!!! He was in such bad shape he had had to super glue his guitar pick to his fingers but he got up there and played for like three hours.

  • It is time to stop Gordon.

  • @TheStrat1957 who are you to say when to stop? why dont you quit doing what you love? gordon lightfoot is a talent beyond your realm of thinking!

  • He still sounds good...but he doesn't look good..poor man...not sure of his health issues but he looks like he is fighting cancer. Keep singing Gordon...and you were one of the last really good song writers.

  • Saw them on October 17 2010 in Bristol TN, soo glad I did. Terry Clements will be missed...

  • One of my favorite first songs as a chil. Gordon was the man!

  • We can only hope Justin Bieber won't be doing this when he's nearing 80.

  • I was in 1st grade in 74 & GL looked not exactly a spring chicken-here we are now ,and I'm definetlty not-then see this vid-Yes a Die Hard blue collar music Veteran

  • Having just discovered Gordon only a year ago, I can honestly say nothing today compares with the talent this man has, and the passion for songwriting. Thank you Gordon!

  • Thank you so much for posting this cool video of one the finest songwriters the music business has ever had.

  • It brings me tears to realize how time flies...how quickly we get old...but artists, being creative, have the consolation that their creations live on...I have loved this song..and I still love the artist...Thank you Mr Lightfoot!! Thanks for the upload!!

  • id pay just to see the guy ...missed his concert , daytona, due to work.

  • Poor guy---he is so sickly looking--like a skeleton but keeps on doi ng his love of music for fans---way to go Gord!!!!!!!!!!!

  • His voice isn't what it used to be but I am a proud Canadian and even prouder that this man is a Canadian. He has sold out Massey Hall for more than 40 years (and counting). NO OTHER MUSICAL ARTIST who has played Massey Hall can claim that. Thanks Gord, we will always love you. Just listen to SONG FOR A WINTER'S NIGHT (from "Gord's Gold" in 1975 and you will know how great a singer/songwriter he was in his prime). His voice is magical on that song.

  • A million of thumb up for Gordon!!!!!

  • Bravo! Bravo!!! Gordon!!! Thank you for your music and you're beautiful feelings!!! This song is simply perfect!!! My family really love you!!!

  • love this guy.

  • He's simply incredible!!! Bravo Bravo!

  • Gordon Lightfoot and Don Imus could be brothers, or at least separated at birth!

  • Que buen músico, que maravilla

  • Fan for ever, a legend of folk, God Bless him for he has touch the hearts of many though his songs and style.

  • Gord's rough and, getting ready!

  • great music. i love it. thanks gordon.

  • you da best gordon thanks forall of it

  • I think he has to---has a young wife and daughter.--ouch

  • love it. Amazing.

  • Gordon, you still got it!!

  • Great, I still love him - his songs are timeless - thanx - Eva Folk

  • What age is GL now? When he did this concert.

  • very intense player! fantastic talent!

  • Looks like the crypt keeper..but I love his music. Sounds good but looks in pain, I hope he's doing this because he wants to, not because he has to. He looks uncomfortable and in pain

  • 味がいいおじいさんになったな

  • I watched him perform in Wenatchee, WA two days before this... awe inspiring performance, incredible stamina, beautiful stage lighting. A very fun evening!

  • Bless his Heart..we love you Gordon Lightfoot..So Proud to say you were part of my History growing up in the 70's and 80's

  • The blue collar man who never stops working!

  • looks like he's got cancer

  • @biggraz1 Gordy suffered a ruptured abdominal aneurysm in 2002 and was in a comma for several weeks and had several surgeries. He lost ALOT of weight with all of that. In 2006, he suffered a mild stroke and lost use of some of his fingers, but eventually regained use of them.

  • @minnabean33 Thank you for sharing the info. Glad to see he is still entertaining people after the aneurysm and stroke.

  • So,so,so remqarkable!!!

  • think he will be in halifax ns?

  • Holy Shit! Gordon is beyond wonderful but good god he looks horrible....

  • @TheRippper So it ain't my eyes?

  • God Bless Gordon! Wow!!! A music legend!!!

  • Always awesome. !!!!

  • Retire!!!! he still has that much hair!

  • I WISH I COULD GO SEE HIM....DOES HE HAVE ANY DATES THIS YEAR... T

  • @SEAPIMP1 I just saw him in Winnipeg friday night

  • just the fact he can remember the words a 75+ i a big fucking accomplishment... i couldn't do this shit at 46... way to go gordon!!

  • @litew8, you hit the nail on the head! The idiots making fun of him don't realise that they're all going to age, and won't remain hunks forever. It's part of life, and our society idolises the young, it's really quite sad.

  • Here he is in his 70's. He's been in a 6 week coma, had a tracheotomy (can't help your voice any), suffered a stroke with a loss of some use of one hand, and he keeps coming out to play and sing for us, his fans. What can you say?

    Thank you, Gordon Lightfoot!

  • This is so sad, he used to be a hunky kind of guy......

  • @billstr541 not sad at all, the guy is a beast of a man.....his spirit is strong and he fights till the last

  • @billstr541 Youre right a real looker but werent we all.

  • his voice ain't failing him, he's just singing softer!!!! Proof that music keeps the spirit young!!!

  • Getting old just really sucks.

  • @litew8 I don't think its the getting old bit that is the problem. Its just that we all think that nothing changes and that we - and our heroes - will always be the same.......

  • Always and forever! Love, Love Love you gordon!

  • Always and forever! Love, Love Love you gordon!

  • Rock and Roll? surely it is Country/Folk

  • Thanks kindly for posting this clip. I wasn't able to see him in the L.A. area recently, so it's great to hear him. For those who don't know, GL had a serious illness about 10 years ago, and he was in a coma and nearly died. His voice was affected some admittedly. Still he's "the True North strong and free"...and I'd like to hear Hootie and the Blowfish playing this well after 50 years.

  • I dont care if his voice phases out...he is a fuckin legend!!! Great Canadian!!!!!

  • For a man who almost died, I think he do very well.

  • I watched him a couple years ago in Tulalip Wa.

I grew up listening to him. What a great show! Yes, his voice is failing him, but who cares? Gordy's the real deal.

  • "Grace Slick" said, atleast 20 yrs.ago, that she would never sing her

    Big No.1 records again.

She wants people to remember her back then, not now.

Kuddos for Gordon. Difficult to see myself age.

  • Voices change but the soul stays the same.

  • Wow that was Great and he is 73 or 74 now!!!! Awesome job!!

  • Abe Simpson: "I can feel death's clammy hand on my shoulder...oh wait, that's my hand."

  • You look like your near Death--get with it man

  • It's obvious that its the music and performing that keeps this great man going. What a treasure. I hope I get to see him.

  • i would have like to been there to have seen that just so i could have told people i saw him sing

  • You look at Gordon and you hope, in the GOOD sense of the phrase, that he's feeling no pain in his golden years. You also hope the other sense of the phrase is not in play.

  • Is that gholum?

  • Damn such a beautifull man with a voice how age had affected him i feel sorry long live gordy

  • He did not look well..he looked like he was in pain..and after song was done..he looked like he wanted to fall down...love the man...but come on..time when to fold em sweetie...

  • No this is proof that Folk will live forever, and the spirit of true Canadian music will never die.

  • All respect to the man...despite he's 72 and smoked most of his life, he's still out there trying to please the fans. But he looked like he was strugglling to get through it. I actually thought he might pass out at 2:38. Great, but bittersweet to see him struggling.

  • My goodness. 72 years old... Still just as good as ever.

  • Acting your age is far underrated... Acting youthful is vastly overrated....

  • What a voice... Even still hes far better then the crap we have to hear on the radio today ;) ... He shoulda wrote more hits....

  • What a stud.

  • With those ears, Ill bet 'ol Gordon can the hear very comments we're writing on Youtube.

  • @platypusone Shhhhh

  • Just noticed on his album cover (cigarette n his hand) so he is a smoker, that's why he's short of breath. Love his voice and sound.

  • he looks like the crypt keeper

  • @azmatt73 There...you just had to go and say it.

  • Just wondering...if he was or is a smoker?

  • I was supposed to go to one of his concerts today, but my dad got lost and we were unable to attend.

  • how old is this cat

  • @tenderfootdemon Gordon Lightfoot will be 73 this November.

  • His voice is amazing here. Rich emotional intensity. Not the same as it once sounded , but just as great.

  • Looks like he's feeling severe pain at 1:42!

  • 1:03 Gordon Lighthead

  • Thanks for the post.

  • look i'll be 55 the 20th of july,,,, this was the best music ever the late 60s early 70s we all age gordon, like all of us age,,,,, still the best sound there was

  • Gordon looks terrible very gaunt....hope he's ok.

  • @455Transam well he is 72 years old and hes probably tired from all that standing and singing! and yes he is very well.

  • Lots of heart & soul right there...

  • PROOF THAT ROCK AND ROLL WILL LIVE FOREVER!!!:):):)

  • @SkorpionOne Even at 73 Gordon still "has it"

  • @SkorpionOne you got that right.

  • better it wont go^^ greatings from Germany

  • I will always love Gordon Lightfoot

  • @ doniphandude - I don't hear his voice failing at all........for christ sake, he looks like motherfuckin' Skelator up there, and he doesn't waver flat even once! GL has still got it... even if he DOES look 90!

  • I'll never forget when i was a young lad my grandfather telling me, he said grandson, it's hell getting old. Fifty years later i know exactly what he was saying..... I love ya buddy, and i'll be in touch real soon... :)

  • that was better than in 1974 ur Feeling was another .. Greetings from Germany from Ochtrup Town ( Unheilig Gebohren um zu Leben )

  • This song is always one of my all time favourites and dear Gord you are always youthful to me.

  • F#@& Me, aging sucks.....

  • still sounds great. stl an awesome guitarist.

  • I perfer to remember him in his prime, having said that its awesome he is still playin.

  • Oh dear is putting it mildly......I was thinking Oh shlt...........

  • I was hoping to see a glimpse of his band in this vid, particularly his guitarist, Terry Clements, who recettly passed away -- this clip was from his final tour. Even though we can't see him, we hear him, and his presence is felt, in this clip.

  • @tcquinn1

Too bad I didn't get Terry in. He can be seen in the "Old Dan's Records" video I have posted.

  • Thanks for posting this.

  • oh dear. Why do our heroes have to grow old?!!!!

  • thanks for posting! I wanted to see his concert here and wasnt able to get to it. He still has it. I blame the sound guy on this one, mic was way too hot and he backed off. You can hear sound ringing on verge of feed back. Excellent quality! thank you

  • I applaud him for his longevity. It's a shame to hear the voice failing him. Excellent video!

  • @doniphandude The voice is a funny thing isn’t it. Your post reminded me of Bob Dylan, since he gave GL his award in Canada, but you hear his voice and its changes are astonishing, I herd Cat Stevens sing just recently as Yousuf Islam and you’d swear he hadn’t changed since the 60s, and GL maybe his voice is failing, maybe he is adding nuance and emotional depth to the song. I don’t know.

  • @doniphandude Sounds good to me, sounds like Gord, he was comatose for a while, you know.

  • I saw him perform the day before his birthday in Cheyenne, it was cool, the audience sang Happy Birthday to him.
