  • Hendrix is better than Santana.

  • Albums, 8 Tracks, Cassette Tape, Cd's, MP3's now Youtube. 42 yrs. of The Greatest, Carlos Santana have been the best times of my life. Now kids thats 42 yrs. who will be your Santana?

  • Man this song showed alot of what Carlos was all about. Taking a song and giving it a whole new soul, you know making come to life. Well he did it 1978 seems like yesterday "Inner Secrets" was a underated album.

  • @grandpasnow I listened to "Inner Secrets" until the record was so worn out the needle came out on the other side :-) Those were the times when we still had to flip records. For the younger readers here, I am sure there is a YouTube video showing what I mean.

  • I don't like how they swing it on the choruses, and the piano player is taking way too many liberties with his parts. Thank God Carlos plays it true to the record. My allt-ime favorite Santana song,

  • Great cover by Carlos and the boys!!!

  • searched this song for a looong time...thx for uploading it !

  • Some FAT bass grooves going on there!!!!

  • Hands down the most musically rich interpretation. No one outdoes the Santana band. Jah rastafari!

  • ez még most is ott van

  • Thank You

  • What a jam.Actually, better tan the original.

  • This is rape!

  • The singer is Alex Ligertwood

  • Be-au-ti-fulllll. This yelling guitar is calling me to ecstasy. And I say..... Yes!

  • awesome

  • 1:05 best riff of the fuckinggggggggg history!!!!!!!!!!!!

This song is being featured this week!

  • Yeah but if you want tambourine check out SHUGGIE OTIS BOOTIE COOLER

  • I like how they took the best of the Blind Faith version.

This is a great great interpretation of this song !

  • Great version of a killer song. I'm impressed by the vocals - wouldn't have thought anyone could pull off the high-energy stuff that Winwood did. And Carlos is amazing as always - as is the bass player in the intro.

  • That's an improvement on an improvement on a classic. Thanks for posting.

  • Santana es un dios de la guitarra!

  • @dewey666skyline666 Si, es verdad!

  • I SAW THEM PERFORM THE INNER SECRETS TOUR AT THE CAPITOL THEATER. WHAT A SHOW

  • The singer was the British musician, Alex Ligert-Wood.

  • Who is singing?

  • This album and this song are one of the best of Santana, for me! The musicians are so good oh my god!!

  • A Santana arrangement that is so special.

  • Great, great Buddy Holly song that has been covered in many genres (Nanci Griffith did a lovely country-tinged version), but you can't beat the original by Buddy & the Crickets.

  • Boy you kids today!

Buddy Holly was the originator of this song. Blind Faith covered it on record (a ripping arrangement of a song not many knew at the time). Santana covered it again afterwards. The guitar hook was from the Blind Faith version, so it is kind of a cover of a cover.

If any of you haven't checked out Buddy Holly yet, do it. Thanks to the Brits that he wasn't totally forgotten in this country. His songs have been covered by the Beatles, the Stones, Blondie, the Dead, to name a few.

  • @joetube199

    BUDDY HOLLY LIVES!

    and may I also add

    CLAPTON IS GOD!!

  • Alex Ligertwood!

  • Buddy Holly did this before Blind Faith I think. Of course, Buddy Holly recorded this song before his plane collided w/ a UFO in 1958 over Iowa, killing him and Big Bopper and Paul McCartney.

  • Nice to see Carlos throwin' one up to the great Stevie and Eric with this one, nice version too

  • A vastly superior performance to the original tepid Blind Faith original.

  • @cutis1000 Whoa let's be easy, this is live and if you're comparing it to the studio cut perhaps you should take a listen to the live Blind Faith version those boys were no slouch

  • @cutis1000

    Blind Faith original???

  • well, all right. hahaha!

  • This was the 1979 performance at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney, Australia.

  • @ laingent Graham Lear was the drummer between 1976 to 1984. UK born Canadian.

  • Great Buddy Holly cover!!!

  • Fantastic version!

  • Don't forget Alex Ligertwood the singer is also great!!!

  • I wish the entire song was that D minor intro. so beautiful.

  • yep, it was in Australia 1979.....

  • Awesome, Viva Santana!

  • This is one soulful performance. Love the singer!

  • The singer is Alex Ligertwood who is from Scotland. I liked Greg Walker better.

  • I'm hearing a lot of Steven Winwood in the vox.

  • Winwood sang this song with Blind Faith...

  • Great piece!

  • Another GREAT Buddy Holly song!

  • Who is the singer?

  • Me piaici mucho.

  • music back then was so much better live, now a days many singers cant sing live like they can on the record... this i do have to say is a great song!

  • Once the guitarrist used to be called as Santana. In present days, his name is Tonhão, due a lot of shit music he has recorded in these times. What shame!

  • GREAT!!

  • We will live and love with all our might!

  • superb!

  • the piece of guitar just after the chorus addicted me to this song!!!!!!!

  • Who is playing the second guitar? You see him towards the end holding a Les Paul, right? I love the sound of Santana & the second guitar playing in unison for the hook or riff or whatever you want to call it.

  • Chris Solber he only played second guitar & B.vocals on the Inner Secrets album!

  • The first song is the Marathon intro.

  • awsome!!!

    is that ginger baker singing?

  • no, it's Alex Ligertwood

  • ha ha good one mate

  • is that a yamaha guitar ?

  • yes, it's the SG-175, which would later become SG-2000 and (after Gibson sued) later called SGB-2000.

  • Awsome Buddy Holly Song!!!

  • I think it's a Blind Faith song originally.

  • @drkam6 no this is a buddy holly original

  • oops, yes it was a Buddy Holly tune originally, sorry!

  • awesome lead.

  • esta cancion é boisima.

  • The 1969 version by Blind Faith made this old Buddy Holly tune famous, with Stevie Winwood on piano and Eric Clapton on guitar. This cover is a more rocking version of the song, and has two guitars and a rare backup by Carlos. His lead guitar is always unique.

  • it's a nice version; but the one of Blind Faith is the best ever. I remember: 15 years old, running around in a new world with lots of expectations, singing this song loud and clear (as far as that was possible..)

  • Yep¡, why, oh why, this world failed to change?, that was our chance¡¡¡
