A good movie and all even though it doesn't really offer anything new to people who are somewhat familiar with world history and international relations.
@YTYInterviews I just started my own NGO with my friends. We are a group of high school Freshmans that want to change lives in Ethiopia. 25% of Ethiopians relies on the profit they make through coffee beans. What we are doing is buying the coffee for free trade from Ethiopia, going through UPS ( already implemented), and getting the coffee beans in big stacks so we can grind them up and sell them to our high school and different local places. Do you have any suggestions to get it noticed?
all i can say is DAMN... this shit is all so diabolical. i truly believe there is a hell, and its meant for people who created these systems, along with killers, rapists, child molesters. but the most deserving to be there will be the money hungry, destroy the entire universe for a profit motherfuckers
Absolutly unbelievable review, really eye opening. Is also pretty funny watchin Cenk try and fight and not buy into lots of the stuff, its all true man!
@therrydicule The Free Market creates slaves by virtue of how it works. Systems can be called whatever they like, and theories generally work on paper, but reality is usually quite different and usually harsher.
@corbinmichael123 The point is a free market have condition to be. In case of slavery, labor is a "good" but it is not a free market.
If there is no or little competition, that not a free market anymore but a monopoly or an oligopoly. Here, some metropol use a form of coercion to insure the absence of competition...That does not look like free market, but more like a form of coercive monopoly.
@therrydicule You are speaking of free market as a concept. In reality, if you follow it to its natural conclusion, it becomes a "coercive monopoly" as you call it. I agree, at that point, it should no longer be called free market as it is contrary to its literal definition, but it is the ultimate conclusion of the practice.
@corbinmichael123 I do not think it is always the natural conclusion, when proper anti-trust law, proper taxation are present... Let cut to proper condition, because of the limited number of characters...
However, sometime it is the conclusion...And Marx point out at this possibility very well. It's just that I think that Karl Marx was slightly wrong, like the Frankfurt School and Eduard Bernstein demonstrated.
If you live in new york city and want to see it [which you most!] check the website of the news paper " the independent" the are offering free tickets to see it at Village Cinemas. If not see it it a most!
the IMF and the World bank have made it possible for the bankers to enslave the poor nations it's a way of taking over the resources making them debt nations..yep this is true a secret the wealthy elite doesn't want known.. not only do they destroy the US and other industrial nations but the 3rd world nations as well.. if we could get rid of the elite and take control of the economy for the benefit of everyone instead of the few
that makes no sense. People living in ridiculous, cruel, needless poverty is not a good or necessary thing. What does ending needless suffering have to do with conservative Islam? Don't churches and charitable organizations also try to help people out of poverty?
yeah, but what about the people that are'nt anyway? They are gonna have to give up there Value, by the time theres no poverty everyone will be at the same level..... *refer to previous comment* sadly its the truth
You could end so much poverty by taxing the super rich, not regular working class people. We could end a lot of poverty in the world simply by taxing money hidden in offshore tax shelters or taxing big corporations more. The rich have a lot of money they could give up and still be incredibly rich. Someone who makes $100 million a year and has to give up $70 million will still be rich by any standard.
taxing the super rich is already being planned, but will it go towards getting rid of poverty? nope, it will be used to get the country out of debt. America is in debt by $1,000,000,000,000++ and the third world countrys are in debt as well.
People like Bill gates do give a lot of their money to charity, but do you still see African poverty adverts? yes. And plus the amount of third world dictatorship there is...... charity won't do anything for those people.

I find it awkward, Cenk, that you have trouble in believing the extend and methods of the exploitation, considering that A LOT of the political content of TYT concerns the conspirational nature of said. Politics that is.
It seems you've come down with a case of the truth being so horrifying that a 'normal' and socially aware mind simply refuses to grasp its extend.
The F.A.O. reported that it would cost $40 billion a year to end hunger in the world.
$43.6 billion a year is spent by the United States alone warring in Afghanistan. $14 TRILLION was allocated globally bailing out the banks.
The reason there is poverty is because scarce resources are poorly allocated, in part because of greed, inertia, and corruption. The West's economic system is not to blame. Economics and politics are only as compassionate as the societies they underpin.
Isn't a lot of this argument Marx's? I'm not saying that the argument is wrong by comparing it to that evil, bad, nasty Karl Marx, who's goal was actually the end of oppression, not the totalitarianism set up in his name, but to, I guess, ask people to re-think the ideas that are proposed by Jon in this video.

"if everyone lived like americans, we'd need 6 planet earths, and by 2050 we'd need 30"
The latter part of that doesn't make sense. The population on earth won't even be double from now, so does that mean that americans (and with them, everyone else) will triple the amount they consume now? That's simply incorrect.
thats exactly whats going to happen. i am reminded of "super size me" when a lady talking about Fast food points out that the small drink size today used to be large. people continually consume more food, clothing, resources and create more and more waste.
the US is currently using more resources than the planet can replenish. So if everyone consumed like the US, we'd keep burning out planets, then moving on to new ones. If we were sustainably using planets, we'd just stay on the 6 and only need more as population grew. And if the world consumed like Burkina Faso, 1/10th of a planet would be enough
Yeah, this is a really good discussion since you guys started talking about land. There's a reason the constitution was originally going to say "life, liberty, and the pursuit of land" - it's because without land you are subject to slavery.
Americans need to get it together and do something about our distribution of wealth and land, because most of us are slaves. We don't realize it until we are out on the street.
Resources are measured in acreage -- not land acreage, it's a measurement including ALL resources from food to water, oil, land, etc. The U.S. uses a full 25% of the world's resources. Every hamburger you eat, every mile you drive, is literally taking food out of the mouths of others and energy away from families desperately in need. But we Americans especially have become insanely good at ignoring the life-or-death plight of others to maintain our lifestyles. It's sickening to me.
True, Whats sickening to me is the politicains that come on TV telling kids to "serve their country" and go to war to fight for "freedom and liberty" When the truth is they are just fighting to protect corporations and big bank profits. And in some case increase profits.
But that, of course, is how it's always -- ALWAYS -- been. The poor fighting and dying for landowners is as old as civilization itself. But the individual -- wealthy or poor -- does have the power to change his/her own lifestyle. If Americans ate meat at only one meal per day instead of 3 -- and 4 for the real glutinous -- it would do major good for this planet. But we've become convinced that "someone else" will fix the problem while we suck up everything we can and produce moutains of waste
Ill check it out. FDR was the greatest Presdent the US ever had, Because he saw the problems and he got the point. He was also the only president that was bold enoughto tackle the problems head on..
He was the first president to really put the fear of God into big corporations. Its a pitty that he died before he could have passed his new bill of rights.
Had that happened the USA would be completely different now. And for the better
You're right, amp1616; organisations that monitor human trafficking recently came out with a study showing the number of slaves in the world right now is HIGHER than at any time in the history of the world in sheer numbers -- not in ratio, of course, but it's still a stark figure to ponder.
Cenk is such a capitalist, privatization is killing people & he still defends it. I like TYT but dont be fooled. TYT is not liberal it is centrist, they want things to stay the same. It is a good show & I like it but dont get tricked.
Dude you are 100% right. But I dont expect alot from Cenk. He like many have suffered from years of brainwashing.
Alot of people are waking up to the reality of how the world works, but onfortunately they are being brainwashed by other ridiculous lies likethe illuminati conspiracy and the NWO.
There is no NWO. In that this is the way the world has always worked. Their is nothing "New" about any of this.
COLONIALISM NEVER ENDED It was just re branded as Capitalism.
Even World War 1 is the classic example of what ive been saying. The USA was giving aide to both sides. They only got involved in the war, when the Germans put a naval blockade around the allies, and were sinking all ships including US trade ships
Prior to that German soldiers used to dock in the USA all the time
This is all historical fact research for yourselves
Whats interesting is that for the first time the mother country is becoming a colony
Cenk is fiscally conservative, yes, but socially speaking, he's extremely liberal. One doesn't have to be all or nothing. I'm the type of liberal who's far left on damn near every issue -- but I think guys like me need the Cenks around as well, lest we go to far off the rails and get Bolshevik. I think the combination of these things is what keeps us going.
This has been hugely obvious for a while - TYT would never be able to break into the mainstream if they were anything else though.
Cenk is a smart guy sometimes, but his views range from very fair to status quo. Fortunately, he's really fun to watch, and his heart is in the right place most of the time.
Cenk calls himself a moderate progressive. I think that's a very good description. He's liberal, but not an ideologue. He's logical, which tends to favor the progressive side, but not always
The economic system we have now is not capitalism, it is corporatism. What I don't understand about so-called libertarians, like Ayn Rand, who want unregulated free markets, is that w/o progressive regulation corporations run the place, thus meaning no real freedom. Their libertarianism is anti-liberty! I advocate a return to true libertarianism, that being called left-libertarianism, advocated by Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, and the great economist Henry George, who is featured in this film.
I know Noam Chomsky advocates Libertarian Socialism, but one thing hasn't really clicked with me - How does a libertarian socialist society protect itself from outside forces WITHOUT forming a force that has a monopoly on violence? Libertarian Socialism is basically a form of Anarchism from what I've heard, and state-violence is rejected by it.
Chomsky usually states that a Libertarian Socialist society is a long term goal, which makes a lot of sense I think. People have a long ways to go.
Yeah, I've wondered the same thing. Regardless, it's a nice idea but, like you said, we people have a long way to go before we are ready for an anarchist society. In the meantime we must work for progressive change in world, particulary against abusive corporations and governments.
If humanity survives and continues to evolve as it has been over time, then I think a society without states and private tyrannies that oppress humanity would naturally dissolve because they wouldn't be necessary - Although, this is just futuristic idealism.
As you said, we need to take progressive steps into the right direction, and as stated throughout history, constant struggle is needed to achieve that.
Also, I'm sorry, but you're the one being ridiculous. I'd suggest you never read or watch the news again because they bring you facts without solutions.
Not to mention, this is an 18 minute movie review - He hasn't even touched on many global issues that need to be brought to peoples' attention, and you expect him to insert some sort of solution?
The Video is 100% fact. I grew up in a third world country and Ive witnessed this for a fact.''1, My country produces Bauxite, which is used to make aluminium. We should be a first world country considering how much Bauxite we have, yet were not. The bauxite is mind by the Alcan corporation which is based in canada. zThe country suffers badly.
A priminister tried to raise taxes on th e corporation and the USA intervened and got him forced out of power "to prevent communism"
The loans thing is also 100% fact. My country just this month signed a contract with the IMF. To get a loan to pay off other loans we currently have.
The first thing that happened was the countries credit rating was downgraded to the lowest levels, this was done to force us to accept a higher interest rate loan and also to make us automatically default on other loans i.e. borrow more from the IMF.
Right now 56% of the islands GDP goes to paying back loans and that will continue to rise
Local industries have all been run out of business and have been replaced by foreign corporations, Even in farming, thanks to globalization and the "free market" and tax free imports. it is cheaper to import chicken rather than to buy it from a local farmer.
Our economy is mainly agriculture based yet soda companies import fruit concentrate rather than buy locally produced juice.
This is exactly whats happening to the USA as well, or being setup to happen
The priminister that was forced out of power with the aide of the US government was Michael Manley. The way they did it was verycovertly. They did it by placing a secret embargo on the country. This caused alot of essential resources and commodities bread etc, to dissapear from shelves. The CIA also interveened more directly by helping local gangs get guns and traffic drugs from miami into the island. Dont belive me research the "shower pose" Gang of NY and Jamaica
The USA did this to try to destabilise the country. They then backed manley's challenger edward seaga in what was the most bloody election period of modern times, This all happened in the 70s. teams of gun men would storm voting stations murdering people who may vote for Manley.
Seaga won and miraculously the very next day everything that was scarce was again avilable.
The drawback to the plan was that The gangs kept the guns, so the Police were used to track down and kill local gang members. The CIA and FBI also turned on the shower pose in NY to try to stop them.
To this day if you go to the police impound you can see weapons taken from criminals that have stamped on them "Property ofthe US military"
The US also hated manley because he was the first leader to get the country off the IMF. He raised tarrifs on bauxite companies and encouraged local industry
Heres the cold hard fact about the world. The USA, England, etc really dont give a fuck about socialism or whether a country goes that way or not. It was all Used to justify military action or other covert missions against countries who got hostile to corporations.
Thats it.
The war with cuba happened for the same reason.
Jamaica was fortunate though other Islands like greneda their leader was assassinated and the island bombed
This is all actual history that CNN and BBC doesnt tell people
Their are alot of conspiracy douchebags on Youtube. But what I have told you is all historical fact and you can research it all for yourself. And even if you dont ask yourself one simple question. Why do I hate Cuba.
And Why should I care if they go communist. When you really read the Cuban revolution youll understand the truth.
China is also communist yet the USA deals with them all the time. So why the exception with cuba?
The USA hated Cuba because Cuba was controlled by all US companies, Castro revolted and got rid of Batista and the corps. They wanted to kill him to reopen the plants
1st world countries go to war with other countries to protect the profits of corporations. Not because of any ideological stance. This has always been the case.
Im using the USA vs cuba as an example but ALL first world countries behave exactly the same way. The Big Banks run the world and use the Military to protect profits.
We need to start working on intergalactic expansion to make up the difference in resources. But seriously, it seams that there is not much, if anything we can do to avoid our catastrophic fate.
the only solution is for the average citizen to make a concious choice to not support these corporations and only then can change even begin to take place.
But every fucking AynRandian I've ever talked to says the money pie is an evergrowing one and everyone can have a piece. Are you telling me greedy people don't share? Say it ain't so.
very interesting conversation, Jonathan Kim rocks, they should have him for like at least an hour every friday. The movie is a must see for me at least.. I hope it runs over here in sweden or else I´ll have to get it from somewhere else :|
POWERFUL film.

Please, my friends, around the world...
...please watch "End of Poverty".
This is paradigm shifting information that no Elite or Christian leader wants you to see.
Lets think for a minute...
.... 2,000 years ago white culture was told how to behave by a wise man...
.... "Feed your enemy. Love your neighbor. Tend the least of these"
Did Jesus teach "Starve your enemy. Steal from your neighbor. Create more of the least of these"?
We have never gotten it. Today we create the same predation.

There must be a set of international law that over sees all the corporates regardless of their nationality.
It's only a matter of time we'll need the international government against the criminal corporates.
Without it, even industrialized countries become the victims. I'm seeing the beginning of it here in US.

It's sickening to me.
billyshake 2 years ago
True, Whats sickening to me is the politicains that come on TV telling kids to "serve their country" and go to war to fight for "freedom and liberty" When the truth is they are just fighting to protect corporations and big bank profits. And in some case increase profits.
3star2nr 2 years ago 2
But that, of course, is how it's always -- ALWAYS -- been. The poor fighting and dying for landowners is as old as civilization itself. But the individual -- wealthy or poor -- does have the power to change his/her own lifestyle. If Americans ate meat at only one meal per day instead of 3 -- and 4 for the real glutinous -- it would do major good for this planet. But we've become convinced that "someone else" will fix the problem while we suck up everything we can and produce moutains of waste

Read: Smedley Butler's "war is a racket"
You probably already have, but if not this guy has an amazing story to tell.
He also was approached in 1934 to over through FDR as President. Great stuff
blingbling65943 2 years ago
Ill check it out. FDR was the greatest Presdent the US ever had, Because he saw the problems and he got the point. He was also the only president that was bold enoughto tackle the problems head on..
He was the first president to really put the fear of God into big corporations. Its a pitty that he died before he could have passed his new bill of rights.
Had that happened the USA would be completely different now. And for the better

Actually that was Teddy Roosevelt, he busted up the big railroad and other monoploy's.

the more things change the more they stay the same... slavery is still as alive and vicious as ever
amp1616 2 years ago
You're right, amp1616; organisations that monitor human trafficking recently came out with a study showing the number of slaves in the world right now is HIGHER than at any time in the history of the world in sheer numbers -- not in ratio, of course, but it's still a stark figure to ponder.
billyshake 2 years ago
Cenk is such a capitalist, privatization is killing people & he still defends it. I like TYT but dont be fooled. TYT is not liberal it is centrist, they want things to stay the same. It is a good show & I like it but dont get tricked.
NubianTribesman 2 years ago
Dude you are 100% right. But I dont expect alot from Cenk. He like many have suffered from years of brainwashing.
Alot of people are waking up to the reality of how the world works, but onfortunately they are being brainwashed by other ridiculous lies likethe illuminati conspiracy and the NWO.
There is no NWO. In that this is the way the world has always worked. Their is nothing "New" about any of this.
COLONIALISM NEVER ENDED It was just re branded as Capitalism.
3star2nr 2 years ago 3
Even World War 1 is the classic example of what ive been saying. The USA was giving aide to both sides. They only got involved in the war, when the Germans put a naval blockade around the allies, and were sinking all ships including US trade ships
Prior to that German soldiers used to dock in the USA all the time
This is all historical fact research for yourselves
Whats interesting is that for the first time the mother country is becoming a colony
Thats whats happening to the US right now.
3star2nr 2 years ago
exactly.
neo-colonialism.

I think the combination of these things is what keeps us going.
billyshake 2 years ago
This has been hugely obvious for a while - TYT would never be able to break into the mainstream if they were anything else though.
Cenk is a smart guy sometimes, but his views range from very fair to status quo. Fortunately, he's really fun to watch, and his heart is in the right place most of the time.
eternallord 2 years ago 2
Cenk calls himself a moderate progressive. I think that's a very good description. He's liberal, but not an ideologue. He's logical, which tends to favor the progressive side, but not always
jsjkim 2 years ago
The economic system we have now is not capitalism, it is corporatism. What I don't understand about so-called libertarians, like Ayn Rand, who want unregulated free markets, is that w/o progressive regulation corporations run the place, thus meaning no real freedom. Their libertarianism is anti-liberty! I advocate a return to true libertarianism, that being called left-libertarianism, advocated by Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, and the great economist Henry George, who is featured in this film.
MassLiberal1 2 years ago
I know Noam Chomsky advocates Libertarian Socialism, but one thing hasn't really clicked with me - How does a libertarian socialist society protect itself from outside forces WITHOUT forming a force that has a monopoly on violence? Libertarian Socialism is basically a form of Anarchism from what I've heard, and state-violence is rejected by it.
Chomsky usually states that a Libertarian Socialist society is a long term goal, which makes a lot of sense I think. People have a long ways to go.
eternallord 2 years ago
Yeah, I've wondered the same thing. Regardless, it's a nice idea but, like you said, we people have a long way to go before we are ready for an anarchist society. In the meantime we must work for progressive change in world, particulary against abusive corporations and governments.
MassLiberal1 2 years ago
If humanity survives and continues to evolve as it has been over time, then I think a society without states and private tyrannies that oppress humanity would naturally dissolve because they wouldn't be necessary - Although, this is just futuristic idealism.
As you said, we need to take progressive steps into the right direction, and as stated throughout history, constant struggle is needed to achieve that.
eternallord 2 years ago
Yes, private tyrannies are pretty bad. But does the commentator actually propose an alternative? No, he does not. It's ridiculous.
leeason1 2 years ago
@leeason1
Also, I'm sorry, but you're the one being ridiculous. I'd suggest you never read or watch the news again because they bring you facts without solutions.
Not to mention, this is an 18 minute movie review - He hasn't even touched on many global issues that need to be brought to peoples' attention, and you expect him to insert some sort of solution?
eternallord 2 years ago
The Video is 100% fact. I grew up in a third world country and Ive witnessed this for a fact.''1, My country produces Bauxite, which is used to make aluminium. We should be a first world country considering how much Bauxite we have, yet were not. The bauxite is mind by the Alcan corporation which is based in canada. zThe country suffers badly.
A priminister tried to raise taxes on th e corporation and the USA intervened and got him forced out of power "to prevent communism"
3star2nr 2 years ago 2
The loans thing is also 100% fact. My country just this month signed a contract with the IMF. To get a loan to pay off other loans we currently have.
The first thing that happened was the countries credit rating was downgraded to the lowest levels, this was done to force us to accept a higher interest rate loan and also to make us automatically default on other loans i.e. borrow more from the IMF.
Right now 56% of the islands GDP goes to paying back loans and that will continue to rise
3star2nr 2 years ago
Local industries have all been run out of business and have been replaced by foreign corporations, Even in farming, thanks to globalization and the "free market" and tax free imports. it is cheaper to import chicken rather than to buy it from a local farmer.
Our economy is mainly agriculture based yet soda companies import fruit concentrate rather than buy locally produced juice.
This is exactly whats happening to the USA as well, or being setup to happen
3star2nr 2 years ago
what country did you grow up in?
NwZ2 2 years ago
Jamaica

ahh, i figured so. My background's Guyanese so I recognized the "bauxite" term. ^^
cheers.
NwZ2 2 years ago
The priminister that was forced out of power with the aide of the US government was Michael Manley. The way they did it was verycovertly. They did it by placing a secret embargo on the country. This caused alot of essential resources and commodities bread etc, to dissapear from shelves. The CIA also interveened more directly by helping local gangs get guns and traffic drugs from miami into the island. Dont belive me research the "shower pose" Gang of NY and Jamaica
3star2nr 2 years ago
The USA did this to try to destabilise the country. They then backed manley's challenger edward seaga in what was the most bloody election period of modern times, This all happened in the 70s. teams of gun men would storm voting stations murdering people who may vote for Manley.
Seaga won and miraculously the very next day everything that was scarce was again avilable.
3star2nr 2 years ago
The drawback to the plan was that The gangs kept the guns, so the Police were used to track down and kill local gang members. The CIA and FBI also turned on the shower pose in NY to try to stop them.
To this day if you go to the police impound you can see weapons taken from criminals that have stamped on them "Property ofthe US military"
The US also hated manley because he was the first leader to get the country off the IMF. He raised tarrifs on bauxite companies and encouraged local industry
3star2nr 2 years ago
Heres the cold hard fact about the world. The USA, England, etc really dont give a fuck about socialism or whether a country goes that way or not. It was all Used to justify military action or other covert missions against countries who got hostile to corporations.
Thats it.
The war with cuba happened for the same reason.
Jamaica was fortunate though other Islands like greneda their leader was assassinated and the island bombed
This is all actual history that CNN and BBC doesnt tell people
3star2nr 2 years ago
Their are alot of conspiracy douchebags on Youtube. But what I have told you is all historical fact and you can research it all for yourself. And even if you dont ask yourself one simple question. Why do I hate Cuba.
And Why should I care if they go communist. When you really read the Cuban revolution youll understand the truth.
China is also communist yet the USA deals with them all the time. So why the exception with cuba?
Dont know what the answer is yet?
3star2nr 2 years ago
The USA hated Cuba because Cuba was controlled by all US companies, Castro revolted and got rid of Batista and the corps. They wanted to kill him to reopen the plants
1st world countries go to war with other countries to protect the profits of corporations. Not because of any ideological stance. This has always been the case.
Im using the USA vs cuba as an example but ALL first world countries behave exactly the same way. The Big Banks run the world and use the Military to protect profits.
