Santa Monica Airport jet plane pollution on KCAL9 newscast

I hate people like this!! I would do anything to live that close to a large airport. If they don't like it, how hard is it to move. If I didn't like beach bums, could I expect them to close the beach down if I moved there?

ok now i will absolutly agree that it is not smart to have built the homes right by the departure end of the runway but like many are saying. if you dont like it, move. you shouldnt have moved here in the first place, the airport was here first. also as far as emmisions... i work at an airport with these types of jets more than 40 hours per week for 3 years now and i have never been sick because of it.

For those wanting to close the airport...the answer to everything is FOLLOW THE MONEY.

The residents that live near the Santa Monica airport bought these houses at a heavily discounted price. Now they're turning around trying to close in order to increase the ROI on their house investment...unreal.

What bothers me in society's is the hordes of sheep; no passion; robotic. Honestly, nothing better to do with their time. They've never skydived, flown an airplane, scuba dived, etc...

SM are safe and don't deal with the FAA and City of SM abuse-they send all their crap our way-

The airport has increased it's JET Traffic ten fold-due to the celebrity and jet-set not wanting to go thru security at LAX-The airport was a quiet local affair with aviation enthusiasts! NOW it sounds WW2 --Oh and what about the emissions and health issues-SM is NOT GREEN !

If you don't live in this area SHUT the hell up !

These people are just trying every single way to shut down the airport. They're full of it.

If its so bad, why aren't the people unloading your bags, fueling, and tugging the airplanes at every airport wearing gas/fume masks?

They all wanted to live in Santa Monica and the real estate was cheaper near the airport. The airport was there first, you don't move next to a farm and complain about the smell.

Get over it or move.

this video was recorded over 10 yrs ago, air pollution standards on jets have since then been brought up to what would be compared to less than one vehicles polution.

Let's see what's more toxic, the 405 and 10 interchange during the 4+ hours of rush hour traffic everyday; these are east of the airport. They have had 6 environmental studies and none are conclusive. The emission problem can't be isolated. The small aircraft operations have dropped considerably since inception of fee based landing. When these guys ban jets the small aircraft guys won't be in the numbers to support the airport and the airport closes.

Those who chose to buy or rent near the airport did so with full knowledge of its operations...including the jets. Nothing new in this story except people who expect the world to bend to suit their whines.

I live near the Santa Monica Airport and I love going there to watch planes takeoff and land both prop and jets. If the private jets are banned from Santa Monica then shouldn't jets at LAX be banned as well since they fly directly over the city of Inglewood?
