@cenamontana1989 not saying I disagree, but I'm curios to know why you think so. I myself have some non-specified doubts about Michelle Williams as the best for the part, but maybe you can help as to where it goes wrong in the cast
Omg!!! I went to go see this Movie two days ago and LOVED! IT! It almost made me cry watching her life going down hill getting into depression , just sad seeing the real life of the most famous women on earth back in those days. She looked so happy and confident in the outside but in reality she fragile, timid & a sweet girl.. 10thumbs up. Go watch it if u guys haven't yet.
@TashaG16 because she's the epitome of beauty and what a real woman looks like with her curves and she had the allure of sexuality but she was also mysterious with girl next door qualities to top it off
@anthonyatlarge Already did hit theaters. Only in select theaters in select cities. I searched a 40 mile radius around me and could not find one theater that had it. A little ridiculous when there are Marilyn fans EVERYWHERE who want to see this.
People think that by wearing the blonde hair, red lipstick, and a pretentious smile makes you look like marilyn, but that's not it. She made people stop and stare in wonder. She had that hypnotic innocent look in her eyes, like a small child living inside her who was quite familiar with pain, but would radiate beauty in her attempt to find happiness. That cannot be faked or acted out, because you can see it in a person's eyes. And Michelle Williams does not have it. sorry.
@minakovi There is a lot of actors who have protrayed historical figures, Colin Firth and Helena Bohaim Carter don't look like George VI and The Queen Mother, Jaquin Phionex and Resse Weitherspoon didn't look like Johnny and June Cash.
@MermaidBlueFins yes, that's what I'm talking about... that it's not about the physical looks, but the way they capture the character and portray their main essence, like Marilyn's enigmatic attraction, the hopeful yet beautiful look in her eyes, and her innocent yet inviting smile...
I don't understand why many people watched this for Emma W, since she only has a couple of scenes. The true star of the movie was Michelle, who did an absolutely stunning and overwhelmingly un-clichè-ish work. She was just perfect, brilliantly fragile and her unique beauty was spot on for the role. Michelle deserves an Oscar for her delicately powerful performance, she did an awesome work. She didn't just play Marylin, she was Merylin while she was acting: insecure yet dashingly attractive.
I love MM. I have a collection of her books and posters... plus I wrote an unfinished screenplay about her when I was young..so I can't wait to see this!
I feel like the HP kids can't escape the movies. Rupert was in that movie with Mrs. Weasley, Emma is here with Judy Dench, Dan was in something with Uncle Vernon, etc.
I felt compelled to write this after bursting into tears in the cinema yesterday.
I must say, Michelle was INCREDIBLE - I grew up in the 80's, so have only ever seen the posters / old-fashioned films.... Now, I feel as if I was actually THERE.
I never realised how unhappy she was.
Such a beautiful, talented, funny and adorably naive woman was BROKEN inside..
Fantstic storyline, plot and cast all round, and the very end where she says "Goodbye" .... I burst into tears. Absoultely THUMBS UP !
So how was this Movie?? I've been Infatuated with MARILYN MONROE since i was a little boy beautiful, stunning but most of all her BEAUTIFUL PERSONALITY that she had captivated me . I can't wait to see this movie.:)
Im watching this because i adore Marilyn Monroe. She was and always will be amazing. Gives me chills when she says "all they ever see is, Marilyn Monroe."
charlize theron looked most like marilyn monroe, but she's too tall. I don't like michelle as her, she's got too much of a baby face, I just don't see marilyn in her :( hope the movie's good!
I thought scarlett johansson's face would look a better Marilyn... As for the acting, I don't know..

why are dead right wing 20th Century Fox FBI collaborators being still allowed to walk around selling anti civil rights anti woman propaganda?
without an Oscar no one would ever have seen a charisma challenged actor play marilyn

I think Oprah should have played Marilyn
