i love how people say one reason hybrids are bad is because the battery left over when the cars done. hybrids use electric motors, not big ass batteries dumb ass
I like this car because it is truly unique. Technically, this is the only true hybrid sports car on the market -- and you feel superior with two actual electric motors onboard. The Lexus IS and ES are for anyone who can afford a lexus; the LS is a limo; the LSh is for the superrich, but the GSh... i dunno. i see it as "unique." rare. out of the crowd.
Lexus is FLOPPING in Europe because they don't offer a diesel. The IS220d is a joke: it comes with 1/3 of the safety systems offered by the IS250 and the IS220d is not even available with an automatic transmission option: Audi, BMW and MB all offer an A/T option on their lower end diesels. Lexus says their "serious" about Europe, but then they don't give me that impression.
LEXUS 's hybrid is the best man. What are you saying?
Which do you think is more imoportant for our Earth. Lexus is also thinkjng about our mother Earth. Withour considering about our earth, the GLOBAL WARMING will get worse. man. Think man. LEXUS and hybrid car is the best.
You fail to realize that hybrids POLLUTE in another way. What do we do with their batteries once they're spent? Ever thought about that?
And hybrid are overhyped. They're efficient in the city. Period. Drive an RX400h in the countryside and it's a gas-guzzler. Varios roadtests here in Europe have confirmed that.
And this is not a bash against hybrids - just mentioning the facts.
So, where do all those batteries from regular cars go, then? The warranty is longer than a regular one so it probably gives us more time to figure out the disposal. Look, I found out that the batteries from the Toyota Prius can last 200000 miles based on a Vancouver taxi driver.
@Lionkingcirclelife I must agree with carwimmer, the batteries themseleves cause a lot of polution even before there mount on the car. The Lexus hybrid line wasn't intended to be eco-freindly it mot geared towards performance and thats why the GS has more power compared to the GS430 (discountued)
@cawimmer430 Did you know that Lexus is sold under the name of Toyota in Japan? Toyota decided to change their luxury cars to Lexus ONLY because of their North America market. So they targeted American cars, and succeeded very well. The number one selling car in North America is Toyota Camry, and the number one selling brand car in North America is Toyota (and Lexus).
A hybrid is GOOD for the city, but for the ultimate in fuel saving, a hybrid diesel is better. Diesels are inherently more efficient than gasoline engines. A diesel-hyrbid will obtain good MPG within the city and in the rural areas, its diesel engine will ensure a low fuel consumption. I'm not dissing hybrid technology, but Europeans, me included, just love our diesels more.
Simple. Toyota-Lexus claims hybrids are fuel-efficient. What they don't tell the consumer is that the hybrid drivetrain is only efficient in stop-and-go traffic: the city. Out in the country for example, the GS450h, or that RX400h are nothing more than gas-guzzlers and inefficient. A diesel is better suited. If you want the ultimate in gas saving technology, a diesel-hybrid is the way to go. ;-)
they tell you exactly how much it consumes at 100Km/h or miles to the gallon in several scenarios. do the math regarding the price of a diesel car vs an hybrid (sometimes even regular petrol!) and you'll see that it isn't that simples if you're talking exclusively money-wise.
No they don't. They tell you how good the gas mileage is within the city, but not in rural areas. Autobild, where I got the movie from tested the RX400h and found it fuel efficient in the city. Out in rural areas, the RX400h relied on its gas motor. What does a 3.3-l V6 gas engine in a heavy truck do? It guzzles. And that's where hybrids fail because of they're virtually optimized for city driving - where they're most efficient. ;-)
City 25mpg, Highway 28mpg. Urban 92L/100km, Extra urban 7.2L/100km, Mixed 7.9L/100km. All of this from official websites.
Off traffic, the hybrid engine can help when you need to step on the gas, and the battery will charge when you decelerate or brake. It's at its best in the city, but it'll still hold its own against diesel everywhere else. I for one dunno many diesels giving this kind of performance and drinking less than this, and I'm not even comparing car prices :)
Where do you live? In Europe, where I live, they only give you the figures for city fuel consumption. Thus, the RX is rated at 7.9 L / 100 km in the city. Now, this car was also tested by Autobild outside the city in rural areas: curvy and hilly countryroads. The RX hybrid was a gas-guzzler here because of its petrol V6 engine. Had it been a diesel, it would have gotten much better fuel economy.

I have this car ...I dont care about milage it's power & silence ,,,Love BMW but too noisy .Love the hidden power .
PS some countries ie. JORDAN don't allow disel cars in .
The problem with desiel is that you need a trubo for any good of power & that will bust in 60k-10k km

what do you want a diesel for if you can have an hybrid? ;) this thing is a beauty.
