I'm a roller skater, but I know both figure skating and roller skating are both dangerous and equally difficult sports. Sure, we might have more weight on our feet, but I'd rather have that than razor sharp blades on the end of my boots. Credit is due to both roller and figure skaters alike, I don't think it's fair to make remarks like that =/

Those blades are dangerous. My friend was doing her program. The put the music on on the loud speakers, and always announce who is doing his or her program and to watch out for the person wearing the pink sash. This girl was not watching where she was going, and spiked my friend in the back of her leg with the back of her blade. There was blood all over the ice.

Here is a video that goes to show just how dangerous the blades can be. I know this is a hockey video, but hey, they have blades, just like figure skaters (minus a few differences.)

I had something like that happen to me a few weeks ago. I fell on a flip and my blade went all the way into my thigh...all the way down to the bone. And i don't see why figure and roller skaters should be so hostile to one another. We're doing the same stuff, just on different equipment.

::cringes:: Yikes! Hope you are okey. That had to be scary. I agree that ARS and ice skaters need to stop bashing one another. It just really gets on my nerves when people use the weight differences of the equipment as a reason why one is better, or in the case of an ARS I have come across numerous times, global warming...
