Hi man, I red many blogs about the Vostro V13 and I wonder if it can run with windows 7 64 bits because the one I'm almos to purchase is running with the 32 bits version and the laptop is only using 2.93 GB from 4GB of ram; what's more, I'd like to know if you have experienced some troubles like overheating or maybe while using many windows at the same time.
excellent review! no idea why there is a post about noice of the fan because I can hardly ever hear it - any way 2 questions - how do I improve my skype video picture and second how do I get my 'my wifi technology' back? It has gone....
Hi, thanks for the comparison ! I own a V13 and am pretty much happy with it, but I'm looking for a bit more performances. I've some questions:
- what about the weight?
- is there a light sensor to adjust the screen & keyboard backlighting?
- very important for me (had to bring my MBA back because of this...): what about the fan noise? My V13 fan runs only intermettently and a has a very bearable noise (unlike Apple's).
@Minishglob I purchased mine directly from Dell. I've sold notebooks on eBay before, but never purchased one. As with any purchases on eBay, check their return policy, notebook condition (if used), etc. Maybe Google best practices for purchasing notebooks on eBay. That's what I would do! Good luck!
@ryanbane Thanks for the few pointers. I will probably give amazon a try also. I have no experience from amazon, but sometimes I feel it's safer to purchase a notebook from them. Btw I live on US Protectorates, so Dell will not ship to my location.
@koalakendi They give the V131's display a 72% rating. However, in a similar review of the 2011 Macbook Air 13", they give the display a rating of 75%. I happen to think the 2011 13" Macbook Air has a magnificent display, so take their rating of the V131's display with a grain of salt. Hope this helps.
@koalakendi I would compare the display to that of most Dell business-line notebook displays you see out there. (Vostro, Latitude, etc.) Not the most bright or vivid displays out there, but still good. NotebookCheck (dot) net actually has some of the BEST full WRITTEN reviews on notebooks you can find. In the comment right below (or above) this, I'll post the link to their review of the V131.
I would like to know some more info/opinion about the display quality... I'm interested in this laptop for a linux distro but still need a decent display (I come from a early 2008 MBP). Thanks and nice review!
great video, I like the music in the background, it really adds to the video. I am getting this laptop for school and I am pretty excited :)

I am planning to purchase my Vostro V131, but do you recommend buying from ebay? Where did you purchase your Vostro V131?

@eranmes The 6-Cell battery does indeed protrude from the bottom of the V131. (about 1/2 inch)

Quick question about the battery: Does it protrude from the bottom of the V131?

Thank you very much for the info! I think I'll buy a Vostro v131 in a couple weeks :)

@koalakendi YouTube won't let me post the link, so I threw it in the end of the description above.
