  • hey i have a 1978 and i need a gas cap, you wouldn't have An extra one you could sell me or maybe know where i could get one there 39 bucks from honda i was hoping to find one little cheaper?

  • @ugddmp Sorry I don't have any extras, they are kinda hard to come by.

  • Cool!

  • Another good video fatrat, I'll definitely use these as guides and references when I start my overhaul

  • @IGotYourBack91 Thanks.

  • Hi, just bought a 1980 Deluxe version . This is another version with leg shields and a curved frame . Also has single speed and auto choke. Only 9k miles on clock and runs like a watch. See the wife riding it round the garden on 'GRANNY RIDES HONDA 50 EXPRESS'. Not a bad effort for her first two wheeled powered ride- and off road to boot.

  • @50moped Nice, are you in England? The moped your talking about is rare/non existent in the U.S.

  • @fatrat440 I have one, its pretty sweet. had to travel 700 miles to get it

  • My friends need to see your video - I'll pass it along

  • Nice.

I just bought an orange Express

It was registered in August '79 and chassis plate says its a '79.

Windup / singlespeed / manual choke / no turn signals

However, it has features like '78 model above:

Body colour (not white) mudguards and air filter cover

    2-tone brown seat (not black)

UK model, so no kill switch.

  • @BeardScot Good deal, keep hold of that 79. Great bikes. Only real problem with the wind up start bikes is the wind up spring. Known to break. But there are used ones out there should you ever need one. All the things you describe sound correct for a 79. But did not know that UK model has no kill switch. Did you know Express' were offered in the UK in 1984? Only till 1983 here in the states.

  • @fatrat440 I got it fairly cheap as it the guy said the spring was broken.

However, turns out it was just overwound, and so jammed.

A friend took off the magneto cover, put a spanner on the magneto centre nut and pushed and the thing kicked free (almost took his thumb off!)

Don't know when they stopped. Have an SH50E (City Express) which is a 1985, so before then anyway.

The UK models are right hand drive. ;-)

  • @BeardScot Ha ha, that's cool that it wasn't broken. Love how you guys say spanner and not wrench. Yeah those springs can be dangerous, they hold a lot of tension and are no joke.

  • @fatrat440 Just re-read your comment. You were stating the express went to 1984 in the UK not asking. Sorry.

  • @BeardScot It's ok

  • Hi, I have a 78 Model and I want to buy a new piston kit, would you know anyone who sells these and would ship to New Zealand. any help much appreciated

  • @sneek010 Check treet land tv .com look for Honda Hobbit parts and kits, they are interchangeable.

  • Hi, I have a 78 Model and I live in New Zealand, I was wondering if you would know of anyone who sells a piston kit (rings, pinsetc) and would ship to New Zealand, any help much appreciated.

  • I have a 1981 Express ll with the orginal model/year label. However mine seems to be a unique design as far as all the others ive seen. Its auto 2 speed, kick start but it has a lifting wider seat like the 82 and the gas tank is a dual gas/oil thats mounted at an angle under the seat. You have to lift the seat to fill it. Any info on this model?

  • @kamp69 A picture would help identify it better but sounds like a normal 81 express II. the 81 express II's ( NA-50 ) were the first to have the two speed, NC-50's in 81 had a single speed kick start. As for the seat, I'm pretty sure the NA-50's all lifted up, like yours, and that is where you fill the gas and oil.

  • Hey fatrat440, you know where I could find one of these?

I had a 79' NC50, but it was stolen from my backyard the day after I got it working.

I had spent 2 years getting the thing restored, and the day after I got it running, it was stolen. F.M.L.

Anyway, I'm in Southwest Michigan, know of any good sources?

  • @superstormj try moped army or craigs list, two best places I've found e-bay also.

  • I am planning at looking at one of these, are they 2 or 4 stroke?

  • They are all two stroke bikes. And all are oil injected, meaning you don't have to pre mix.

  • getting this baby in 2hours

what year is it? i dont think its an 1982,plez help. any info?

  • Don't quite understand what you mean. Were you talking about the urban that you favorite the vid on?

  • @fatrat440 sorry it dident send-the one i got has a headlight on the bars

  • I'm 16 and I'm buyin a 82 tomarro hope there as cool as every body says they are!!!

  • They are! I love mine, just to bad the weather is crappy and I can't ride. Good luck with your 82

  • when i was a kid we dredged a express out of a slurry lagoon on a old pit stack what a lad had thrown in been in there over a year we used old butchers meat hooks and nylon rope to find it as the water was black found it we had it running the next day,

  • cool, yeah their pretty much bullet proof

  • on the '82 there was no choke?

  • in 81 they switched to whats called an Auto choke. Manual coke was last used in 1980

  • Actually it's just a camera bag used to hold the registration, that's all.

  • what is the black box on the 80 under the seat? thanks

  • Cool. I've got a Lime Green 78 and I used to have two 82's but I parted them out a few years ago. I prefer the older ones.
