  • yay i'm going there wid my school next month

  • The danger of exploding television... O.o never watching tv AGAIN.

  • what an incredibly petty gesture on your point. So you'll be happy if it fails then? (and be happy with your part in its failure?). No wonder people have such little respect for those in public office. grow up.

  • @paulm99 I'm perplexed in how pointing out the disproportionate cost of this can be described as petty. The headteachers of the schools that I refer to have made the decision not to attend based on cost rather than the governors. Citizenship classes have now gone up 50% in price compared to the scheme run at the Sutton Junior Tennis Centre and I am told that it is cheaper to go to London to a museum rather than book a coach and pay admission.

  • @paulm99 I will not be happy if it fails. Far from it. I have been one of many who called for a properly considered business plan before it went ahead. The council meeting at which the decision was made was held the day before the contractors were due on site to start work. Funding for this project is largely based on a lottery grant which is repayable at any point over the next 20 years should the project be sold, closed or changed.

  • What a terrible piece of sensationalist Daily Mail-scare tactics-style journalism from ITV. I have been to the Centre and there are NO drug dealers or paedophiles anywhere in the Centre. It's just advice on staying safe online and out in public, I can see people's concerns about the cost of it in a time of cutbacks, but shouldn't we be investing in keeping our young people safe??

  • @paulm99 Yes we should be investing in keeping our young people safe, but not spending one-third of the entire policing budget for the borough on a single resource which seeks to replace parenting. The cost is pushed further up by the amount that it costs schools to send children there. This is why many schools including the two that I am a governor at refuse to send their pupils there.

  • I love paying taxes, just love it. What makes me mad is that someone then takes that money and then SPENDS the tax payers money on things THAT MAY BENEFIT THE COMMUNITY. It's political correctness gone mad. With 8 million quid we could give everybody in the UK 13 PENCE each. That would make a real difference.

  • why not use simple books, pictures and short videos instead of spending tax payers money on a program with info that can be shown in many cheaper ways, but yet kids are blinded with video games like i was. I personally think it should be available for anyone. But i DON'T think games should be used too much as teaching. I can see this being miss used like a student cant read will take this option thinking life will change for their needs as it don't always instead of looking to improve the skill

  • Too much about Sutton and not enough about killing Jamie Oliver policies!
