You know, I wondered how the arrogant/ignorant controversy of which sport is "better", then I see these videos and understand why. Really, paintball is stupid because the markers aren't realistic looking? that's a freaking lousing argument. Both Paintball and Airsoft are equal; one isn't better than the other.
there are no college airsoft teams. the us military trains with paint rounds. paintball is on tv. paintball has monster games and tournaments. realistic guns. guns with clips (tiberious 8 and more). and has been around longer.

Real world combat is nothing like airsoft, jesus. In real life, my m16a4 has an effective range of 550 meters. You ONLY shoot semi with well aimed shots. You aren't carrying 5000 rounds, more like 500 maybe. You are wearing a 30# plate carrier and a 50# rucksack+rifle and must walk for 12+ miles. You have to be always ready even when u are tired. Although in reality, you may never fire your weapon in anger, and probably just talk with your friends how much afghanistan sucks and how hot it is.
To me, realism is irrelevant, i don't care about realism. If you want realism, join the army. The important thing is to have fun, if you play paintball or airsoft.
air soft is better because you buy one good gun and the ammo is really cheap but with paintball guns you buy a cheap gun and the ammo cost so much and if you play paint ball a lot your going to be loosing a lot of money on ammo. Well I don't know, that's what i think. You decide!

One thing paintball has going for it are the guns. I have a 10+ year old spyder, it works like new. Bought an expensive airsoft gun, broke within a year - a.k.a "REALISTIC JUNK". Plus, the paintball events are better. Oklahoma d-day over 15,000+ paintballers over a multiple day event. Sorry airsofties but you don't know what your missing.

Paintball fit in games that are sci-fi games. with neon jumpsuits and spacelike weapons. this is nothing negative, I think it would fit better with that, and there are games like this with paintball. and I think its kinda fun in that way. but present-realism = airsoft.

@locotwix They have concealable co2 that goes in the stock on the mag fed guns he didnt show. Then theres the stubby pressurized air tanks (for guns like the ego) and the 12g co2 canisters for some guns and pistols (most of which are mag fed a realistic amount of ammo)

The military people I know play airsoft because: it's cheaper, paintball hopper don't feed well when you should at odd angles around barricades, and they can mount real optics to their guns. And before the paintball fans scream that my friends are a bunch of pussies, they should know that a some of my buddies are in special operations.
I vote airsoft is better because the guns are more realistic,cost less money, and dont make a mess. But paintballers are pretty tough and I give you all props but I still vote airsoft.

I play Airsoft to get the realistic fealing.
And thats the fun of it.
To choose from many different kinds of weapons and to wear a big veriaty of tactical gear and military gear and have the right weapon to theese.
Paintball fit in games that are sci-fi games. with neon jumpsuits and spacelike weapons. this is nothing negative, I think it would fit better with that, and there are games like this with paintball. and I think its kinda fun in that way. but present-realism = airsoft.

@locotwix They have concealable co2 that goes in the stock on the mag fed guns he didnt show. Then theres the stubby pressurized air tanks (for guns like the ego) and the 12g co2 canisters for some guns and pistols (most of which are mag fed a realistic amount of ammo)

The military people I know play airsoft because: it's cheaper, paintball hopper don't feed well when you should at odd angles around barricades, and they can mount real optics to their guns. And before the paintball fans scream that my friends are a bunch of pussies, they should know that a some of my buddies are in special operations.

so is it fair to say that video games can not be realistic looking because its just a game?? i think it can be both at the same time. airsoft is "realistic" because you use real world tactics and simulate real world situations. the fact that it is not a live fire exercise is what makes it practical to have as a hobby for those who enjoy milsim. that being said both are great but paintball is more of a sport where airsoft is more milsim.....and you dont spend $100 on bb's for 1 day of airsofting.
