  • Except for maybe the band Klattu -- who were rumored once as being the Beatles in disguise -- I believe Stackridge were the closest thing to The Beatles -- in spirit. An album or two even produced by George Martin -- so he must have had an inkling. The instrumental "God Speed the Plough" still sends shivers down my spine. Andy Davis released a real good solo album several years ago. Clevedon Pier.

  • Memories

  • talk about strong memories - a scorching hot summer in the Northern Lakes in 1976. As ever, Stackridge were the soundtrack but where we were was straight out of a David Lynch movie. . . a small-holding in a hamlet called Mosedale, a mad, bad and dangerous landlord who kept lions - yes proper lions ('King Henry of Mosedale'), Cathy who ran the cafe and a sultry, slinky, silent spirit of freedom who walked a jaguar on a lead who made up a very odd 'menage a trois'. Seems like yesterday
