I was a young musician when this came out [about 20] and it changed everything I thought music could be.

The early to mid 90's grunge / industrial / dance / trip hop era doesn’t yet have the legend that the punk / post punk era has [except maybe Nirvana’s Nevermind album] but given time this very creative period in music will gain the reputation it deserves as being massively influential on many great bands to this day.

Good ol' times, I'm probably younger than you, but even though punk was still famous, the whole Industrial movement actually "capitalized" the mainstream music, until we got Justin Beaver faggotry and all the worthless horrible teenage pop. I don't mind some Elvis Presley pop or even The Beatles if I dislike it, but anything that has teens its already "Shoot me in the head for being born at this time"

I wish all the old bands REALLY got mainstream again.

I though that of my time [the early 90's] as not being as great as the punk era that I missed by about 6 years. Now with 25 years worth of perspective I can now see that it was actually a really creative time for music. Many of the bands at the time were slagged off coz it was thought that 'electronic music isnt real music'. These guys are now hailed as real trail blazers of modern music and are now influencing your generation.

I cant stand JB but I do understand he is just covering a market [ mostly girls between 7 and 13 ] that historically is know to be a big money spinner. One of the best albums of the 80s ;) I remember when NIN was first taking off in general popularity the mid 90s and I'd say that NIN released my favorite 80s album and people would say that I was stupid. It was funny how quickly I went from being called "weird" for knowing the words to "Wish" to seeing cheerleaders etc. buying downward spiral.

Trent Reznor showed up on the scene about '85, before he starred in Light of Day movie to help out on keyboards while I wrote songs. I wrote Head Like A Hole and Closer for him. I had just seen the movie Real Genius with Tom Cruise's friend Val Kilmer. There is a line in the movie Real Genius which I repeated to Trent. "Can you hammer a six inch spike...?" This was inspiration for the band name Nine Inch Nails. He thought the initials (NIN) would look good on a logo.
