This is what happened:

Ref dropped his yellow card so Gazza picks it up and shows it to the ref impersinating him then giving it to him. Gazza starts to walk away then ref calls him back. The ref puts the card back in his back pocket WHEN GAZZA IS THERE! Then the ref pulls it back out again!

i am a level 2 referee which means i officiate league 1 and 2 matches in england, and i know that there is no such rule. the referee was fined and the yellow rescinded by the FA. the referees argument was that gazza showed dissent, something which we know he clearly did not.
