@tanello2 If they hadn't attack Poland Stalin would've launched Blitzkriegish offensive against Europe in 1942 (as he planned), and because Germany isn't as vast as USSR, Red Army would've probably got to Berlin before Germany would've been even able to react. If Germany wouldn't have attacked Poland with USSR (and to USSR afterwards), whole Europe would've fallen to Communism.
I like the video. I love the Tiger. One movie clip that always gets me laughing and nodding yes is on the movie "Kelly's Heroes" Cowboy comes running around a corner of a bank and yells. "There's a Tiger coming down the street!"

Well my friend it would be very easy what made them the bravest it's a numbers game. Not too many military around the world would fight the numbers that they did in the waiting fort like I said before the kill ratio has not been duplicated since you have a tiger go against 12 T34's and kill them all. that what day in day out event for the germans.
I think that Tiger and Panther tanks were the best tank war to idiocy to kill ratio they had comparative any Allied tanks is laughable I don't care if you like the Nazis or not but its technology was top-notch and their military men were the bravest bar none
@borjatiger13 Jagdpanther and Panther tanks were also good contenders - if I may say so but Tiger I is a remarkable feat of German engineering - 100mm of thick Nickel-Steel alloy electro-welded armor made to last with extreme durability!
Everyone has their own opinions... For me, i read about it, listen stories from americans and russians who came across it and judge by K/D ratio. My opinion, one deadly, scary beast.
@AchseBerlinTokio Actually the Josef Stalin 2 wasn't an outstanding tank, though it was an extension of the KV-1 tank's legacy. The only thing the Josef Stalin 2 had was the 121.92mm M1943 D25-T gun which was only good in HE performance, as the JS-2's armor was more or less good comapred to German tanks. However it did lead to the JS-3 and it helped in the post war development of refined sloped armor and weight (look at the IS-3 and you can see similarities of Cold War Russian tanks as a start).
@roaringwaterbay The Tiger I was respectably maneuverable for a Heavy Tank during the Early to Middle stages of WWII. Could top up to roughly 40kph. It was powered by the Maybach engine which was actually upgraded slightly in 1943 - based on the Merrit-Brown system. It was generally reliable enough - though drive/transmission could be a nightmare for drivers. The true problem was fuel, transport and if the Tiger I broke down. If it were the Bengal Tiger - then it was definitely underpowered.
@roaringwaterbay I have looked at the Tiger I a lot over the years and I would say she is underpowered. To shift something with such high traction on the ground and such weight she really needed 900-1000hp under the hood. However that engine served the Panther very well in it's time.
@roaringwaterbay Hi mate, yes, indeed it was underpowered, but it made up for it with unmatched armour and a very potent high velocity high calibre main gun which could punch holes in just about any Allied tank. Remember, the Germans fought a defensive battle since July `44 (West) and early `43 (East), so the Tiger was highly effective as a mobile defensive "dreadnought"....lets give credit where it is due, the Tiger is a fabled beast, one worthy of remembrance,,(good or bad), look at it`s K/D.
@Anshelm44 hello, i agree with your comments. shermans, while no match for a tiger in a head to head encounter, could take the swarm of flies approach; one sherman could distract a tiger while another one took a shot at it, maybe going for a thinner armor section. here, the sherman's better mobility really helped. of course, lots of shermans were knocked out, but the germans couldn't replace their equipment while the allied assembly lines kept rolling.
The Tiger was the best tank of WWII and maybe of all times all you need to do is see the killing power of the 88L56 and 88L71 gun stop and think only 1300 tigers made from 1943 to 1945 and how many did they kill?
no tank ever kill more!
and don't come up with the T34/76 or 85 they suck ass!
@militariacollector1 well, thats not completely true, cuz k/d ratio also depends on the result of the war, i mean if nazis had stronger allies and were able to win the war, the k/d ratio will change and become much more, dont ya think so? and even that they lost about 2000 tigers (1400 built and the rest where from which were repaired) the k/d ratio is more than 1, so with even losing the war they destroyed more than they lost(with tigers) ... :)
@nyguy88L71 Indeed! Agreed! T34 tanks weren't known for good working ergonomics and the gunpower was a joke! THe 88mm kwk 36 was already accurate and potent enough. The PaK 43 88mm? Thats every elite German tanker's sword and dream :) Of course as we know it the PaK 43 also was fitted to the Elefant, Nashorn and Jagdpanther as well as some Jagdtigers. Jagdpanther was one of the best candidates for the PaK 43 gun if I may say following the Bengal Tiger.
the tiger (P) was a version of the tiger tank designed by ferdinand porsche, tiger (P) was better then the normal tiger whit its 200 mm front armour, the the tiger (P) was sadly enough never completed and during its tests it had multiple breakdowns, its better then the tiger, but only on the paper
TIGER tank awesome machine and its crew was selected from the best of the best.
It became a LEGEND , TIGER FEAR, its name it is correct because the real TIGER has a high range of territory to get its preys, the TIGER tank also had a very wide territory where it was the SUPREME PREDATOR in USSR.
Great video, I love the sound track, good choice. Can you imagine had the Germans waited to attack Poland, and built say 5,000 Tiger I's in secret with the 88mm gun, then made the King Tiger with a 100mm gun, but taken the time to perfect everything, increasing the side armor protection and other weaknesses. Things may have been different, thankfully Hilter was in a big hurry and threw his resources around. I'm still awe inspired at German engineering for the time, it was amazing and still is
@militariacollector1 I collect German firearms, mostly K98 Mausers, I have quite a few of the lets say. I have some radio controlled tanks in 1/16th scale from Tamiya that I have to build, a Panzer IV, Tiger I and a King Tiger, I love German armor just amazing pieces of machinery.
Yer, i love building german model tanks, aircraft, infantry, Ships etc. When you build your models please post some pics, i would love to see them.
German armor is defently amazing. The work gone into them, Their K/D ratio, armor protection, design. Pretty much everything about them. WW2 history is a great topic to read about.
@militariacollector1 Hoho! Tiger I was said to have a Brinell Hardness of over 250 - very durable and excellent by WWII standards - plus it was rolled plate with Nickel-Steel alloys :D
I myself havea trumpeter 1/72 Jagdpanther speaking of models - and I love that little baby - it was the quickest job I've ever done in a model - nice little TD. What do you think of the Jagdpanther compared to Panther tank? Disregarding the slight tactical disadvatages each had...
Well to answer your question, I think both were perfect for their intended roles. The jagdpanther has a higher advantage, due to its firepower, height, speed and armor. But this advantage is somewhat lowered due to the lacking of a turret.
@militariacollector1 Yes - the lack of a turret was a tactical disadvantage but also a tactical advantage at the same time - considering costs and it coult now mount the potent PaK 43 gun. And surprisingly for a vehicle just under 50 tonnes the Jagdpanther nonetheless unlike its Tiger cousins (Ferdinand and Jagdtiger) maintained excellent speed for a heavy tank destroyer. Armor? Jagdpanther had the same thickness as the Panther - 80mm front sloped at 50-55 degrees whilst mantlet = 100mm.
But then again - you know any good readings for more Jagdpanther interest? I am particularly interested in its engine/power drive for transmission - because seeing that Hitler contributed to the Panther's poor performance in the offensive at Kursk - where salvaged Panther Ausf D's were sent back for refinement - the Germans attempted and struggled abit on trying to fix the drive/suspensions. I was wondering if the Jagdpanther suffered similar problems or it had the problems corrected?

Oh and how does a T-34/85 compare to a Panther Ausf G? The Russian tank ahs a bigger gun, faster and had numbers but the Panther had crews and superior optics.

1100 or so Tigers were built during the war, over all 13,000 German tanks.
Against 35,000 T-34 and 50,000 Sherman's were built.
Tiger was built so the crew can survive, against the Sherman and T-34 was not survivable from a direct hit.
