  • you guys are fucking idiots fighting over whos better...jason becker or beethoven bwahahaha STFU and enjoy both of there music

  • I can't even fucking yoyo that well...

  • @HerrFlickofzGestapo dude, I wish I played Serrana at all

  • lol was the teacher ned flanders

  • @StrongArmMusic

Dude Jason can't even be compared to other guitarist. Jason is 11/0 on the Becker Scale (because he CAN divide by 0, his talent is positively undefined). Every time he plays a note it is sex and every song ends with an orgasm. I have two thumbs so why can't i hit the fucking like button twice?

  • 3:33 damn, i can bearly play guitar on feet and this guy can play with his yo yo and guitar at the same time, incredible! O.o ...

  • I don't have enough nerve cells to process all these notes

  • serrana's arpegios.... people just cant even open their mouths...... i can bet they were thinking..... "wtf is going on here" my brain doesnt work

  • 3 deaf watchin' this video

  • Please God, cure Jason Becker and instead of him take those three bastard who dislike this video! Jason Rules!!

  • Comment removed

  • So sensitive. All in good fun, not like it's the end of the world. Lighten up, man...

  • Malmsteen vs Becker shit is lame.

Saying Becker is better than Yngwie is disrespecting Becker because I bet he looked up to Yngwie considering he covered his music.

  • Yeah... what's up, Yngwie? Jason didn't even need to scallop his fretboard!

  • @DuayneHoward it's not a need, it's a want.

  • @DuayneHoward ur comment doesnt make ny sense

  • @DuayneHoward You do realize that scalloping a fretboard actually makes it harder to play fast right?

  • @Whackooyzero If you have a light touch it makes it easier

  • Every time when I see and listen Jason's music i always think "Fucking ALS"

  • @ 6:13 telling the best guitar player on earth to turn it down!!! dumbass

  • Jason Becker, is by far, the most talented guitarist in my opinion.

    Jason Becker

    Marty Friedman, Alex Skolnick

    Jimmy Page

    Robert Johnson

    Glenn Tipton

  • @jfkdjfd

jason becker is the most talented composer that was a guitarist, but there are more talented guitarists out there. oh, and please don't mention that con-artist (jimmy page) on a video with a guitarist that has real composition skills.

  • As far as composition, yes, Becker is the best. As far as influence, Becker has the greatest legacy. Page is a great artist no matter what you think, he is. He had a vision and he got it. Becker had the talent, and he had the motivation, the fame, skills and everything else. ALS just got in his way sadly. Becker is one of the greatest musicians that will ever live.

  • @jfkdjfd

i wouldn't say he has the greatest legacy. one of the best, without a doubt, but i think there are people with a greater legacy out there. as for jimmy page, the fact that he gets so much respect while stealing so much music makes me sick to my stomach. page had a vision... to steal music. he doesn't deserve an ounce of respect.

  • Jason Becker actually owns Chuck Norris

  • Top 10 shredders of all time: 1. Jason Becker 2. Jason Becker 3. Joe Satriani 4. Jason Becker 5. Jason Becker 6. Jason Becker 7. Steve Vai 8. Jason Becker 9. Jason Becker 10. Dimebag Darrell
  • @goodygoody23

dimebag? fail, dude. great metal guitarist, but a poor excuse for a shredder. and joe satch? killer composer with extremely tasty legato, but there are shredders out there that just demolish him. i don't think jason is the best shredder either. if you took away his arpeggios he almost isn't a shredder. just like if you took away the paul gilbert lick that buckethead uses from buckethead, half of his shred discography would be gone.

  • @GoodMetalFTW Jason eats people alive with his shredding. Shredding is more than just speed. It's technique, originality, and musicianship all rolled into one, with a little speed. Dimebag's shredding was extremely different from anyone else's. Joe Satriani does stuff that'll make you crap your pants. And Becker is the perfect combination of technique and musical knowledge. People like Batio or Malmsteen? Minor arpeggio....minor arpeggio...ripped off minor arpeggio...

  • @goodygoody23

"technique, originality, and musicianship" in that case shawn lane DESTROYS jason becker. and you're complaining about overuse of arpeggios while defending jason becker? do you realize how idiotic that defense is?

  • @GoodMetalFTW okay please stay away from immature insults. Shawn Lane was an excellent guitarist but not one of my personal favorites. And notice how I said "minor arpeggio." Becker's piece "Serrena" is all arpeggios, but it uses a mix of modes and scales to make them more interesting. The best shredders are diverse, and you'd be surprised about how diverse Becker is, though no one will ever be as diverse as Satch.

  • @goodygoody23

first of all, most shred guitarists prefer minor over major. that's why they only use minor arpeggios. there is nothing wrong with that. second of all, buckethead is more diverse than satch. he plays at least 15 genres fluently, has made around 50 quality instrumental cds plus loads of interesting bandwork. satriani is very diverse, but buckethead plays more genres of music period.

  • @GoodMetalFTW Minors great and all, but it gets boring after a while. I like Buckethead, but much of his diversity is not through shred. And there's nothing wrong with that. It's just that the argument is about shredding, and I consider Buckethead to be more of a musician and composer than a shredder. Though I would probably say the same about Satch, Vai, and even Becker.

  • @goodygoody23

yeah, bucketead is actually VERY sterile when it comes to a lot of his shred. like i said on this video before, if you take paul gilbert licks away from buckethead then half of his shred discography is gone. if you're just talking about shred then jason becker is ARGUABLY the most diverse. my respect for jason comes from his composing skills. he arguably has composing skills superior to that of beethoven, and i don't say that lightly.

  • @GoodMetalFTW oh Becker's composing is just incredible. I'd say I've listened to the studio version of Serrena more times than any of his other stuff, and that has no guitar in it! He's an absolute genius.

  • @GoodMetalFTW umm no he doesnt. I probably like backer just as much as you, but hes not a better composer than beethoven

  • @93thrasher

considering that you spelled "becker" wrong i doubt it. beethoven composed when he was deaf. becker composes when he can't move. both require the ability to come up with entire pieces completely in your head. it's just down to who makes the better music and jason is the more versatile composer and he has the ability to compose with more instruments and makes things that are equally as complicated as beethoven's music.

  • @GoodMetalFTW @93thrasher jesus christ, im so tired of people giving eachother shit for typing errors, that is stupid. as far as whos a better composer, i suppose that is open to debate, and Ive expressed my opinion, but his stuff isn't as complex as beethoven, and is considerably less coherent.

  • @93thrasher

classical is the complete opposite of coherent. classical mashes as many parts as possible together to make the song longer. it's not orderly at all. jason becker's music is extremely complicated, just as much as beethoven's. his arpeggiated passages are as complicated as they get and everything he does is extremely out of the box. his music is just as complicated as any classical artist. serrana is proof enough for most of the points im making.

  • @GoodMetalFTW im getting the feeling you havent listen to much classical, o have you? because I grew up with it. its extremely coherent, they difintiely dont just mash a bunch of random parts together to make it longer. (of course it depends on what era youre talking about, but here were talking about beethoven). Ever heard the term motivic expansion?

  • @93thrasher

it depends on what you consider orderly. i consider orderly something like the more typical music we have today like modern pop and rock. there are no bridges, choruses, verses etc. in typical classical music. not like most of the music now. it's just parts put together and a lot of them. most things in a classical song don't get played the same way twice. i don't consider that orderly. there is nothing wrong with that, i think it's better, but i don't consider it coherent.

  • @GoodMetalFTW coherent just means whether or not the parts fit with eachother. there are repeated parts and repeated themes in classical music, its just done in a more sophisticated way.the famous beethoven's 5th symphony is an excellent example of that. its just a more cerebral sort of repetition.

  • @93thrasher

not according to the definition i saw, but if that's the case then classical music is plenty coherent and so is jason becker's music. there are plenty of repeated parts and themes, but there are just as many parts that don't get played the same way like i said. i also like it better that way. i don't like predictable music. progressive music will always be the best music around. i don't mean any specific progressive music, i just mean music that is really progressive.

  • Comment removed

  • @GoodMetalFTW but its all very masturbatory and only exhibits cohesion when hes not shredding but his shredding can be very linear as well and compositional cohesion is jasons specialty

  • I Love Jason Becker... A LOT!! :DD!

  • know what this is dumb, everyone has their own musician that influences them, whether it be jason becker or buckethead its not about whos better, its about how the music affects you. How it bring its own emotion to you and you personally, not someone else. Feelings like no other. Buckethead and Dave Mustaine are my biggest influence, but i cant say their better than jason, kirk, or any other guitarist because they have they're own styles. If you agree click the like button.

  • @GuitarMasterRicky13 every word you speak is bullshit after comparing Jason to buckettdick

  • @killedonacarousel hey man, I like ALOT of guitarists and I pray every night that god let jason play again. calm the fuck down and have some respect.

  • @GuitarMasterRicky13 kirk and dave are both extremely mediocre guitarists

  • the best guitar player ever.

  • nothng to say!he s jst special!he s sumthing else!

  • FUCK! omg .. just FUCK! incredible...

  • cazzo...

  • If you can keep yourself in check (not go batshit crazy) you can talk to him on his forums. It's preety cool to know that he replies back to the things you say. Also if you really like his style of music (neo-classical) join the neo-classical metal forums, great advice and people

  • @TheKcufttub i'd like to c you do better, jason's the grestest guitar player i've ever seen, and i think most would agree with me

  • @TheKcufttub

Obvious troll is fucking obvious. Go suck your dad's cock somewhere else.

  • Best guitarist of all time, hands down! It's a shame what happened to him, but it is truly an inspiration to anyone with a difficult life that he continues to write music even with his condition. Jason Becker = my hero!

  • hay por dios, escuchar esto me para la pija!

  • waaa!!!! hes so fucking damn good!!!!

  • no aguanto mas del minuto 3 o.o es mucho poder para mi subconsiente conciente cerebro dedos ojos oidos D: !

  • Jason makes it look so easy and you can see that he's happy when he is playing guitar

  • REally ReAlly a God of guitar

  • 213 people liked this and one didn't...i wonder who the one dick that didn't like this video was.

  • @Fluffypopcicle probably an accident....

  • Jason Becker is utterly awesome.

  • Becker loves malmsteen lol he was inspired by Yngwie YEAH

  • if he was still playing guitar...michael angelo batio would not be the god of guitar...

  • @louismagallanes

michael angelo batio isn't the god of guitar anyways. he is still incredible though, but imo not as good as jason.

  • @Fluffypopcicle no but he is damn good

  • @joescout

agreed. MAB is astonishing, but i don't think he belongs on a jason becker video.

  • @Fluffypopcicle I agree totaly

  • @Fluffypopcicle hello again, i agree everybody gets lost in the spectacle of his two handed shred thing. which i think is gay as hell, flash over substance, a mere gimmick but then again people today are easily amused but what really gets me is the fang-baring hostility people show when you oppose something they like, i know cause im the same way and i caught myself and have been fascinated with this, what makes us blindly oppose anything. eureka moment

  • @louismagallanes Batio the best at guitar? you need to check out Jeff Loomis my friend..

  • Jesus Christ.....amazing.

  • does anyone know what this song is called? or where i can get a recording of it? :)

  • @guffmanwho

there were two full songs, the latter being being Blackstar by Yngwie Malmsteen, the fromer being jasons rendition of fifth caprice.

  • @YourMateJosh

    thank you :)

  • AMAZING AND ITS SO CLEAN. Its cleaner then anything yngwie has ever done.

  • @HyperfastMalmsteen wowowoow dude ur last line is totally wrong.....shawn lane was a really skilled guitarist even john petrucci recalls what he cant do but shawn did!

  • @HyperfastMalmsteen

    No... Just, no.

  • @HyperfastMalmsteen LOLLLZ malmsteen is a pussy not even compared to a virtuoso like Becker.

  • @dxvolt they both practiced theyre asses off to get to the level of playing they are at and who the fuck are you to compare two great guitarists that make beautiful music just shut the fuck up and enjoy it..jason becker would be very dissapointed at your level of unappreciation...

  • @HyperfastMalmsteen Becker played clean stuff dude... He didn't get to play long enough to even reach the peak of his career. Guitarists devlope their tones over time. Look at Marty Friedman, he's had albums of SOOO many styles because he's been able to play so long.

Besides, Jason Becker's "Air" is beautiful. Listen to that, then get back to me.

  • @HyperfastMalmsteen wonder where the only down thumb came from... this is one of the only wrong "opinions" i've ever seen

  • @HyperfastMalmsteen Shawn Lane is deffinatley not over rated, and Gilbert plays ALOT CLEANER then malmsteen, and Becker is a saint.

  • Jason Becker...if he hadn't gotten he ALS he would have been more than a guitarist...he would have been the greatest composer ever!!

  • Just Imagine how amazing he would be if he was still playing today....

    Jason YOUR AMAZING

  • it's cool He did blackstar, the god of shred inspired by the godfather of shred

  • Hahahahaha, that principal guy is a douchebag.

  • @NoQuattro i know right. And i cant believe that he didnt get more applaus.

  • Genial!

  • he's the best!! it's weird though, his malmsteen cover wasn't exact, and yet he's practically the best guitarist to ever live!

  • @element5333

In the Black Star video, I don't think he was trying to get it completely note to note. I think he was rather trying to express the song. He added in a part too.

  • with 20 years he was the best, just imagine what he could do with 30

  • I love watching 2:29 when the camera pans out and Jason's just got that shit eatin' grin on his face like, "Yeah, bitches. I just did that." Hahahahahahaha...fuckin' priceless.

  • 6:48 - 7:20 is a lot similar with Vai's playing!

  • lol that's yngwie.

  • other than that it is black star by yngwie malmsteen

  • yet definitely very Vai-esc. haha :P

  • So so fast and good on technique, but i just cant stop listening feeling and passion amidst the speedest stuff as altitudes and the like.

since i was a kid still one of the best.

    yeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh

  • haha good english bro!

  • OMG! jason becker cute... -.-

Great guitarist in world... !!Lets pray for jason!!

  • /

YJMs Black Star @ 7:17 -great

    /

  • Yes is this xD

  • th best...

  • 3:50-3:58

    go off :D

  • what is he playing right at the beginning of the video? :D

  • Paganini's 5th caprice

  • blood on the tratches i think

  • 1-jason becker

    2-jason becker

    3-jason becker

    4-jason becker

  • you forgot 0- chuck norris. and 5-jason becker

  • @drazgoon 0 - chuck norris

    1 - impellitteri

    2 - buckethead

    3 - yngwei malmsteen

    4 - MAB

    and 5 - jason becker

  • @TheBleedingheart11 IF JASON BECKER WAS STILL ABLE TO PLAY HE WOULD BE BETTER THEN BATIO AND BUCKET HEAD FUCKIN SUCKS WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR GENERATION. THE FACT IS JASON BECKER WAS 17 18 WHEN HE WROTE THIS SHIT WAS BATIO NOPE IT TOOK HIM 20 YEARS TO LEARN HOW TO GET GOOD SO IF BECKER COULD STILL PLAY HED PLAY CIRCLES SO STFU U EMO FAG

  • @pinnochio666 u dont know anything.. the 80's arent coming back anytime soon. So move the fuck on and be happy jason is still alive, but no you cant be happy with that you have to disrespect other guitarists that have more feeling in their little toe than you have in your whole body. Knock it off bashing guitarists. Jason would be HIGHLY DISSAPOINTED WITH YOU

  • @TheBleedingheart11 this chuck norris nonsense was played out a long time ago. the fact that Paul Gilbert isnt on your list proves that you know nothing.

  • @100000metal Chris impellitteri kicks his ass...lol

  • @TheBleedingheart11 querido gilipollas, ese es pura velocidad y de hecho jason es mejor porque es bizarro, loser

  • I like how he uses his whammy bar.

  • MORE JASON BECKER MIXES!!

  • Man...i don't think anybody yet has played serrana arpeggios, as fast or as clean as Jason

    A true inspiration

  • its funny how his mind works, no matter what he is always pumping out musical masterpieces for example he was writing music both before and after the disease, but it seems like he is more determined than ever now

    BECKER FOREVER

  • Fue, Es y Será el mas grande guitarrista y músico de todos los tiempos.... Grande Jason Becker...... Fuck yeaaaaaa!!!!!!

  • Dude...he's not dead.

  • He's not dead. He recently released a new CD of some sort which has many different guitarists playing his material. He's like in his late 30s now or something.

  • He still writes music lol XD

  • i know man its fucking crazy how fast he sweeps

  • One day I might just even 1/6 to his sweeping technique. Long live Jason Becker.

  • how old is he?

  • so talented. i forget im watching a kid. then, 8:14 reminds me that he was sooo young! damn!

  • the Serrana arpeggios changed my life! XD

  • @Aurelius27x like how?

  • Only a guitarist as amazing as Jason Becker would be able to grow a beard of such length at the age of 17.

  • 6:15 scared guy off with his awesomeness :D

  • Haha, I definitely saw the fear in his eyes, too.

  • Whats the last song?

  • i think Black Star by: Yngwie Malmsteen

  • lol@black guy playing bass

    so stereotypical. lol

  • which song is the one that starts at 6:03?

  • From 6:03 he is covering Yngwie Malmsteen's 'Black Star'.

  • He is covering it at I believe 16 years old which was unbelievable in that era.

  • He was the fucking master, but the FUCK his disease!!!!

  • at 0:20 isn't that the from the crossroads duel?

  • Yea, then it breaks into something different.

  • Yeah ... Its paganini Mister

  • paganinis caprice #5 if memory serves.

  • I'm fucking ready for an alien integration whom can fix Jason. Humans are just not smart enough to do shit. We fuck up everything fuck!

  • I agree with you sir!

  • 2:37-3:15 almost brings tears to the eyes so fast yet so beautiful sounding

  • GOd to be that rediculously good and for it all to be takin away...jason is the best eva!

  • fuck rustey cooley. Becker is 10x better

  • can someone tell me what guitar and amp he used?

  • well the amp he has in this video is an peavey

  • he used an ADA preamp and a 4 track recorder for alot of the shit he did at home later on in his playing.

his signature guitar was made by peavey originally, and is now hanging in a hard rock cafe. paradise guitars is making a reissue with a new headstock design.. but its a cold 3G's and a long waiting list.

he also owned a carvin as you see in this video.

i dont know anything else like what he recorded with gear wise on the album with DLR he was diagnosed with ALS. hope this helps...

  • the best guitar player to ever liv

  • @knowhandedbob dude wat makes him the best??????? i know he is gud but hes not even close ......

  • @TheBleedingheart11 ...close to what, God? Jason Becker was bustin' out some top notch shreddin' at 17, and he is still writing and selling albums while fighting ALS which started crippling him at 20

  • @TheBleedingheart11 I like alot of guitarists but putting them on a chart in YOUR OWN OPINION isnt the greatest thing to do on a youtube video. Dont try to claim shit as a fact when its an opinion. Jason would also be dissapointed with you. So would buckethead.

  • best guitarist ever

  • guitar* my bad

  • carvin

  • what type of gutiar is that blue one ?

  • A Carvin

    If I'm not mistaken
