So ummm, she changed her mind. It's not a crazy conspiracy she probably just looked at the evidence and decided she was wrong. That's what scientists do, when they propose something and evidence to the contrary disproves it they change their proposal to match the evidence.

I know that's sort of unheard of in mainstream culture but it is actually the basis for scientific progress.
