Trinity Church is like the crazy uncle kept in the basement. There is no way that this church "loves" white people. Whatever denomination the church is in tolerates the church because of political correctness. I do think, however, that Obama had already moved on past the hate filled rhetoric of this church and is maturing before the American people's eyes. God is always glorified in this church's services whenever I've visited there. It is the media, and others with ulterior motives who insist on making this minister/ministry something other than the life changing blessing that it has been to many.

Wright has no problem with Whites. I have been to the church and have seen whites. There was once a German group who came and Wright was very wonderful to them and even did parts of his sermon in German. He speaks many languages.

As I told you before, it was given to him as a retirement gift. Many congreagtions do that for their ministers. The minister of my grandmother's church also got a lavish gift from the congregation after 55 years of service. He belongs to a large church community of 8,000. They probably donated large amounts.

I don't know if you've had the opportunity, but go to PBS and take a look at the (1 hr) interview Rev. Wright did with Bill Moyer Friday night. (Can't list link here, or I would). You might feel a bit foolish. If, after seeing that with an open mind and heart you honestly feel the same, then it's your right and there's nothing more that can or should be said. Trinity Church is like the crazy uncle kept in the basement. There is no way that this church "loves" white people. Whatever denomination the church is in tolerates the church because of political correctness. I do think, however, that Obama had already moved on past the hate filled rhetoric of this church and is maturing before the American people's eyes. Time will tell whether Obama grows into being a good President. I do know that my prayers are with him.

And tell the thousands of people whose lives he's touched, and whose souls were pointed to Christ over 36+ years of laboring in the moral vineyard that his "accomplishments are invalid," just because you say so, and find it easier to believe what you've been spoon fed by the media, than someone who has personally seen the man, the ministry and the recipients of that ministry up close.
How can you as a "Christian" show so much hatred and disdain for FELLOW CHRISTIANS whom you do not even know?

But this just goes to show you the importance of that now-much-overused word, "context." THIS video clip is a mixture of several special programs held at Trinity; they weren't Sunday AM worship services. In the Black community, the church serves many functions, & all parts of life are addressed--incl politics.
Don't swallow the hype. Jesus is preached first & foremost at Trinity--regardless of what you might have heard or think.

Please review the comments of posters like some of the ones below with the colorful names, and compare them with the ministry and resume of this distinguished, well-respected pastor, biblical scholar, author, and humanitarian. You can see how qualified they are to judge/digest his words, motives and accomplishments. I'd wager they probably couldn't bear 1/10th the scrutiny they attempt to subject this ministry to, and certainly lack the integrity and calibre of character references & support.

Dear IRS,
My name is American Tax Payer. I'd like to request you to audit this church. They've received Federal grants and it's no coincidence that Obama was a Senator & parishioner at the same time. Nor is it coincidence that racist Reverend White Wright retired to build a multi-million dollar mansion in a gated almost all white community with 1 million dollars so as to furnish said mansion.
And is racism & hate speech protected by the religious aspect of the 1st Amendment?

Again, without beating about the bush, explain what makes TUCC racist. Tell me specifically what they've done to qualify them as racist. Did they kidnap white people and force them to work on black plantations? Did they prevent white people from entering their church because whites are inferior human beings? Wright has no problem with Whites. I have been to the church and have seen whites. There was once a German group who came and Wright was very wonderful to them and even did parts of his sermon in German. He speaks many languages.

Radar: I've heard the accusations. What I asked you for was the PROOF or the FACTS behind the rumors. And, again, you're confusing issues. Rev Jeremiah Wright is not a presidential candidate (although he and his congregation are being subjected to that level of scrutiny and abuse). Each presidential candidate has their own issues, motives, agendas, goals, skeletons--real AND imagined. My suggestion was that you thoroughly research those things better than your media-fed Wright accusations.

This service (3 months ago) was packed to the hilt (8,000 members); you did not see the congregation you mostly saw this speaker and the choir. Are you trying to determine whether or not it would be safe for you to go? It is. Contrary to popular opinion, they'd welcome you with open arms. Believe it or not, despite how they've been treated in the media--these folks do not hate you.

Radar: Other than a third-party conservative blog please supply PROOF or a link that 1) Rev Wright used $10M belonging to the church; 2) he built a mansion; and 3) it was in a white neighborhood. (Which BTW since there is no more segregation or racism, and everything is equal, there is no such thing as a white neighborhood. Right?). I hope you research your presidential candidate better than you have these folks, before you vote. I think you will be surprised.

As I told you before, it was given to him as a retirement gift. Many congreagtions do that for their ministers. The minister of my grandmother's church also got a lavish gift from the congregation after 55 years of service. He belongs to a large church community of 8,000. They probably donated large amounts.

A passage from the UCC Constitution;
"It is the will of God that every person belong to a family of faith where they have a strong sense of being valued and loved."
How could a white person feel valued and loved at Trinity? Trinity is the antithesis of the United Church of Christ's misson. The UCC is inclusive by it's doctorines. Trinity is exclusive by it's doctorines.

I was taught that that wasthe case until I went to college and learned how complicated it was. If whites cared so much about the blacks, explain to me the events of the entire 20th century. We as a society teach that however I have learned that the mentalities of the people including Lincoln were entirely different. They may have looked at slavery as a moral sin but they did not look at blacks as anything other than subhuman and inferior.

You may call it a gun-grabber, but when you've seen as much violence on Chicago streets as Father Pfleger has, when you have preached as many funerals of gunned down innocents, you'd understand his stance on guns. Trinity UCC has a website about the church itself, and there is info on their bookstore. You can purchase his tapes or even one of his five books. Need more info, we'll talk later. Thank you saltandsavor, however, a gun grabber is a gun grabber wheither you see death by gun downs or not. Guns do shoot themselves, trouble individuals you use guns ilegally misuse guns. Believe me Pfleger does not live on the streets that the victims of gun violence lives on. I know first hand about the problems in Chicago. And much of that problem stems from a corrupt police force, corrupt Mayor (yes I said it, Daley is trash like his father was). Citizens need guns. Have a great day.

I don't know if you've had the opportunity, but go to PBS and take a look at the (1 hr) interview Rev. Wright did with Bill Moyer Friday night. (Can't list link here, or I would). You might feel a bit foolish. If, after seeing that with an open mind and heart you honestly feel the same, then it's your right and there's nothing more that can or should be said. If you have a different perspective, I wonder if you'd be man/woman enough to share it.
