Kobe is DEFINITELY not "above every guard since MJ" in defense. Just name Gary Payton for instance (AFAIK the only PG in history to win DPOTY). Along the road you'll find better defenders than KB.

And they PROVE that except for the 02/03 season (NOT the playoffs) and the 09 playoffs, Kobe never was the main factor in his own team. It was Shaq and Gasol. They always had more win shares in BOTH offense and defense than Kobe. Neither was he EVER the most efficient in the league.

I NEVER said thar Shaq or Gasol could EVER be anywhere close the talent and skill of a Kobe Bryant. That would be an insult. In fact I think Shaq is one of the least talented players ever, he only lives through his genetics.

Kobe is DEFINITELY not "above every guard since MJ" in defense. Just name Gary Payton for instance (AFAIK the only PG in history to win DPOTY). Along the road you'll find better defenders than KB.

Oh and keep in mind, Pippen averaged more assists and rebounds then jordan for most of the championship years. So does that make jordan overhyped? I dont think so. But I disagree with your statement about rings.
When evaluating a single player's qualities, rings are MEANINGLESS. Rings are a team effort, not for one man. There were MANY elite players who never got a ring like for instance Karl Malone.
Other than that I agree mostly, but HOW do you rate Russell on #2 ? And Bird behind Bryant? And Shaq n the top 10 ??? Come on, without his genetics, Shaq would be the worst player in the world.

@megatroll I put kobe ahead of bird because not only do kobe score he's one of the better defenders at his position and as great as bird was he wasn't really a good defender,so i would have to give the edge to kobe.the reason i put russell #2 is because the man has 11 rings and he won two of them as a player coach and that my friend may never happen again,i started to put him #1 lol.Shaq is in the top 10 because he is the most dominate force since wilt you can't deny that.

Yes, Bird is TRASH in terms of athleticism, but his allround game I.Q. made more than up for it.

@shavennn We seen Kobe/Lebron/Wade young together 5-6 yrs ago...and all he had on LBJ is clutch shooting (even if KB did play like shit for most of the game) and on Wade, he only had range. Shaq & the Laker franchise is the only difference between prime Kobe..and prime LBJ, D Wade, T-Mac, AI, and Grant Hill! In addition, the one thing (besides Shaq for 8 yrs and the Laker city and franchise) Kobe has over VC is Vince's lesser defense (of course he carried a much larger offensive load than most)

He was an exciting player and most definitely the most important player to the past decade of the nba. He was so fun to watch when I was a kid. With all that yes, he helped the lakers a great deal. But he'd had his very fair share of help, and partiality, and bias. I'm no hater. I'm honest. There no reason to hate Kobe than there is any other rich-famous person, so I'm not hating in least.
