Smokin Hos, drinkin beer! Have you seen my system? you can custom build your beer stand as you see fit. for about 500 bucks no welding needed. check out my first video posted for the system build. i can send my price list you can buld a system for half the cost as you can if you pre-built. Oh the ML video is awesome!
@Mainebrewguy I have seen your video! And an update for everyone, I ordered the steel today for the new stand. Eff it, I'm building my own. I'll have help with the welding and then I will likely use a lot of your video and others for the plumbing, electrical, etc.
I love hockey( no I don't play)...but I love brewing more. My burner setup (fold in stand) was $150 seems to work fine for what I'm doing. I considered one of those monster stands but figured space and portability might be a problem...my attitude is keep it simple, and always be able to take it to a friends house, portability was a big concern for me (especially since I brew solo sometimes) be sure to get at least 1 huge burner.
Amen to your Extract brewing speech! Yeah, Beersmith showed this recipe as being just over the top for the style on the hopping, but that is perfectly fine with me! Yeah, that Immo video has inspired me as well. Cheers!
I tried to put a link in here, but thats a no go, so google the "Wallace the weldless brew stand" a weldless brewstand I considered in the beginning. I will PM u the link....
U can build a brewstand for far cheaper than you can buy it. Particularly if you can use a welder (or know a friend who can help you) thats what I did. Buy tube steel weld it to your own specs. Then your only real decisions are how many pumps (1 -batch sparge, & 2-fly), how you want to configure your burner setup (piping and mounting) and kinds of vessels to brew in. I have a 3 vessel 1 pump single tier. I plan on doing a video soon of it, but there is a vid on my channel showing the burners
if you are looking for single tier level brew stands, if you have access to a welder, you can put one together (to your own specs) fro relatively low cost (based on a blichman top tier and all that) Thats how I built mine. Just go buy some tube steel and have it welded together. attach a pump and I use converted keggles for vessels (HLT, MLT, and BK). The only real decision to make is how many pumps u want (batch sparge -1 pump, fly sparge - 2 pumps) and how you configure your burners.
similar to what thegentlehearts said, I like what you said on all grain vs. extract. I went straight to all grain and feel like there has been some kind of early years (like what most brewers do) that I missed out on. For me it comes down to 3 things...First, if you want to learn as much as you can about the process of brewing, I think it is important to try all of the different methods. Second, do what you like, do what you feel has the biggest return/payback to you. Third, have some FUN!
I found your comments regarding all grain and extract interesting. I have just made the move and have uploaded a series of vids about my jump to all grain. I did extract for 2 years but now that I have made the switch there is no way I could go back. I have made some great extract but I like you love the process of all grain. Making beer is fun.
super epic long HBW video!! Cheers 17

We're causin' hard times, for sucker MC's
Cause they don't make no songs like these...
If you start playing hockey again and break your leg.. then what???? haha
I think the Blichmann would be a great option as long as you do get the pumps and don't have to lift etc etc.. They make good stuffs!
HOPEFULLY I will be brewing this weekend.. been too long!
