great vid vin! i too would like to see a how-to on the grain mill in the bucket. im a beginner--have yet to brew a batch--so i need as much help as possible.
@conduct623 seriously rad. i'm kegging a kolsch this saturday that turned out (based on my last gravity test) damn tasty... we used no wheat, just some German Pils, Maris Otter, and Munich (Light). I'd like to see an update when this beer is finished just to see what it looks like! Cheers!
I like the vid. I don't think you need to condition the grains with all those rice hulls. Try cutting back on the wheat next time and add a lb of Vienna malt. The grain bill for my kolsch is 8 lb Pils and a lb of Vienna, it comes out great. How long did you boil for? When using Pilsner malt you should do a 90 min boil to drive off DMS.
Sounds great. I will try and work out a video for the grain mill in a bucket over the next couple weeks.

@TheBrewBear34
Yes, a 90 minute boil is a good idea, but a strong vigorous boil for 60 can do a good job as well.
And when it comes to wheat, I don't take any risks, the extra $2 for rice hulls, and 5 minutes for conditioning is fine with me.

@TheBrewBear34 Kolsch beers are one of the very few styles that are known to contain some DMS on purpose.
