There's a good movie reference, or even a crossover every now and then in the earlier years (Like when they combined that pottery wheel scene in "Ghost" with Peter working as one of the Ghostbusters.) but the rest, meh.

The thing is that the guys from Family Guy used this in "It's a Trap" as an homage to Caddyshack. That's the whole point of it, One tipping his hat to the other one. You don't have to see Caddyshack to enjoy this but I bet Seth McFarlane would recomend it to you.
