With all the videos that have been shot of this tsunami - like this one - I'm now seeing what I've read in the past: It's like the tide coming in, except it doesn't stop where it's supposed to. It's not necessarily an actual wave, although we've seen that it can be like that as well.
@hebneh I had just noticed how shallow the bay was when the tide surged back in. A bigger tsunami would have pulled more water out of the bay and surged inland further, I'm sure. I think there are certain geologic conditions that create the actual waves.
