I'm sorry, I'm not trying to sound rude at all or controdicting ...but it DID take me five minutes to learn 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' on the violin, and it didn't sound horrible at all. In fact, the person who taught me was amazed at how fast I learned the song.
great :} can you play it in a lower tone? close up enough for us to see your left hand fingers? i have watched your other video with all your teachers listening. :} I would really like to play this like you do, if possible :}
Learning string instruments on your own is extremely tough. Firstly, you will face the challenge of having no guidance in learning to do some really unnatural things with your body. Secondly, if you do manage to keep up with your lessons and practicing, you will undoubtedly learn some poor technique without a proper teacher. Then, if you ever do get a teacher, it will be even more difficult, because you will simply have to relearn everything you already did. Just get a teacher. It's much easier.
Learning the proper techniques is hard. Unlearning is even harder and takes a long time. without a teacher, you will find yourself wasting years of you time, and wish you had a teacher in the first place.
Try to play twinkle twinkle little star on the piano. You'll find it takes 5 minutes to learn and play decently. Try the same song on the violin. It'll take you a week and you'll find it still sound horrible.
@emilyroni Thanks for the advice I will do that, I was going to learn by myself but thanks to this I will go get a teacher. :) You just saved me years of time :D
Difficult to say. Some people find it easier than others. Nontheless, string instruments (violin, viola, cello etc) are regarded as difficult instrument to learn. But if you don't give up, you will come to a point where you can play beautiful music and that is very satisfying. Good luck!
I've heard many people learning the guitar or piano by themselves without lessons, but I've never heard people learning the violin on their own.
Violin playing is very tricky. You can try learning by yourself, but I think you will find it very hard without a teacher and will eventually give up. I don't want to discourage you from learning. That is only my advice. No one can tell you what to do or not.
Yes it does. I was lazy to learn the piano part. Also I wanted to play something solo again just to see how I sound like. This exposes any bad playing on the violin.
you play fantastic :) i wish my teacher had patience to teach me well...

Very brave of you to put this online. Honestly, it's pretty impressive. You obviously practiced it. Intonation isn't bad either. Bravo.

Well I play guitar, drums and piano so this is sort of new, what would you recommend for a beginner? :)
ElizabethTucker901 2 years ago
Find a good teacher that you trust and can communicate well with. That is more important than anything else, especially for beginners.
tubbie0075 2 years ago
Could I learn it myself? I don't have a lot of money for lessons, I'm already paying for my own private school :(

Hmmm...the sliding kind of gives the song a twang that it normally doesn't have....I'm not sure if I like it that way or not. XD
But you did a great job overall.
