Where on the canal did you hunt? Beside the canal on the bank or were you guys in the canal channel?

@sasquache2 No there was not, believe me we searched that place pretty thoroughly, but it seems like there is always one hiding in there somewhere. I went back 2 weeks later and found another barber quarter just about 5 feet away, this time I was going slower and got a faint signal and dug.

Wow....now that's a pocket spill! My son found our first wheatie, a 1919S-our oldest coin. We are still waiting for our first silver. We did get a chance to video a couple of pocket spills of clad.....

whoever lost that amount of money was doing very well...or was good at saving. if you look up what you could buy at that time with that much money...you would shit! he probably was getting laid when that money fell out of his pocket lol

Yes I did return to the area and found another Barber Quarter, I don't remember the year, but I did video it and just have not edited or posted the new video yet.

Watching it again makes me want to go back to the area to see if there are any more possibilities.

If you are referring to the half dollars those are worth about 160-185 each. The quarters may be worth about that much.

Guys, I think that was more than a pocket spill. That was way too much money to have in ones pocket back then. I am betting there was an old cabin close by there, and this was a burried cash! I sure would be scouring the whole area more! Nice work!!

Thank you for your comments. I used the standard Windows Movie Maker that is on almost all computers. If not I am sure it can be downloaded from microsoft for free.

I know, it is great and I went back and found another coin which I will be posting on another video down the road. I have it all on film this time.

That's amazing! I've been detecting with a vaguely cheap Cabella's Treasure Hunter for the past month or so. I live in Poulsbo, WA, which has history back to the 1850's or so, but so far I've only found clad and pet dog tags.. I have yet to find anything of value, but I'm not giving up. It really is fun. Good finds guys.

You have to watch out how far you are from the canal. It is illegal to detect within 100 feet of ether side of the canal in the whole state. Just to let you know. Congrats on the finds!!!

Very nice bunch of coins. I'd almost think that was a cache because there wasn't any pennies. It might pay to go dig that hole out some more or try a larger coil. HH

That is a good idea. Never really thought of it being a cache until SCdigger mentioned it below. I think I might head back to that spot. I can find it again, because we went hunting there twice and I came across it again.

The only thing is I am getting ready to move from Illinois to Wichita, Ks. I will just have to find the time to do it.
