  • where's the bikini bird?

  • why the fuck use the stick i have been sking with no sticks and its better, they are just cumbersome to cary and impale danger if u fall wtf

  • @BallerSkier Well of course you know it better than all of the proffesional skiers then :) But then again, maybe you are too stupid to understand why you should use them.

  • @BallerSkier lol...the arguments you posted arent very convincing. Sticks are essential tools for maintaining balance during almost every movement of doing ski turn. Of course you can ski without them but your technique will suffer undoubtedly

  • this is a terrible video, completely outdated, and totally useless for modern skiing...plus its boring as hell.

  • @thisistactical

Just came back from INTERSKI, the international meeting of ski instructors, St Anton, Austria. Sorry to inform you that with the new "rocker" skis and a new awareness to sideslipping, northern Americans and French are discarding the "carving" fad as they see it being detrimental for recreational skiing.

  • this is a very bad interpretation of skiing, if you have the old 220 skis then go ahead, if you want to learn how to use modern tech, get a real lesson, the racers are carving, not sure what he's doing leaning on the arse of his skis and has his feet way to close, shoulders rotating, feet lifting, outside foot extending; just all wrong, looks like he's on a mono board, welcome to the 1960; special!

  • It may be that short radius turns cannot be carved. Long S turns are carved. Short radius turns seems to be twisted and pushed for speed control. Ideally short radius turns should be carved. But the only way to control speed is to head up the hill. Alternatively, as the video points out, you use FRICTiON. This is not carving. This is pushing the ski agains the snow at the lower point of the turn. Perhaps this video is more realistic about what occurs for most short radius turns.

  • Elle est couramment à Moscou, mais souvent à Chamonix. Tu t'intéresses au bikini ou à la femme ?

  • where's the bikini girl?

  • Nice technique for 1969, ...but 2010 ??? Why are they even bothering using shaped skis, when this is a style from the days of the 210sm straights ?

  • im unsure on whether this is a piss take or not haha

  • The Ski Panda vids really helped me gain a range of turning techniques to add to the carving skills. Try carving a 50 degree skinny black mogul field and when you've picked yourself up and finished crying you'll be happy you watched these. Thanks Skipanda. All knowledge is power :)

  • Nice how you tried to break skiing down mathmatically but it does not help any newbies to skiing. Infact the only thing good about this video was the girl in the bikini.Other then that the title of the video is decieving and overall 1 Star

  • haha, that's how people used to ski in the 80s.

looks sooo dorky compared to carving...

  • totally wrong way to teach ski...

  • Railroad tracks are not the only way to carve a ski. If the tail of the ski passes through where the tip of the ski went it is carving. Think about it above the fall line in the 1st part of the turn and below the fall line in the last part of the turn. Everybody thinks that if you do not do railroad tracks in the snow it is not carving. IMO RRT is nopt the only way to load a ski into carving.

  • I would like to learn to do that on "straight skis" one day - with a ribbon between my knees and all. But this video should be called "skidding craze". The parabolic skis you have on are so out of place. Really anachronistic stuff. Almost unreal.

  • Forget about the no-carving complaints. Everything shown in this video is really, truly, totally horrible.

  • The second part of the video may also help you understand the point, eventhough it does not display any good looking lady!

Harald Harb's Feature 1 is the perfect illustration of my theory.

  • @mickeyandlucy yea except the parts with the world cup skiers.

and SKIPANDAGLEE first learn how to carve and then make videos about it.

  • There is no technique in this clip whatsoever

And don't you dare to compare to world cup skiers !!!

  • Very helpful technique! Thank you!

  • theres not a single solid carve in here exept for the racers... theres some short radius turns using the edge to carve at the end but no solid carves... wtf?

  • To make it simple, whenever snow flies, the skier is skidding out of the carving tracks. And this is most of the time.

  • ya dude i know... i ski every weekend... my point is why is the vid called "carving craze" if theres no carving in it

  • Formidable cours ! A appliquer sans tarder dès que la neige est de retour...
