Oh how nice it is to be a student at MHS. Yeah for some reason we get these ridiculous musicians to play here from time to time. We had Maynard Ferguson a few years ago. It might be because we have an absolutely phenomenal jazz band which is actually somewhat well known around here. And some person raised money.
@supersentz first off im not a kid and stop hatin... grow up dude this guy has a talent that your born with... hes fantastic and if u dont like him u dont have to tell the whole world... thats just my two cents... piece
@supersentz would u please shut the hell up and stop hating.... Dude if Derek Trucks came to my school I'd freak. Hes up on the shoulders of the greats like clapton, srv, beck,B.B, etc. Him and joe Bonamassa are bringing back the blues thing. You don't have to watch it. Go listen to some shitty alternative rock
@supersentz You're probably a young person who thinks that speed is the necessary element for great musicianship on the guitar. Only age and experience (hopefully) will rid your mind of that delusion.
a lot of high schools these days have state of the art auditoriums. theres a high school near my town that has a bunch of great acts playing. OCMS, Brand Carlile, etc.
@Danjd1 I know this dude who works for some I.T. company and they had their Christmas party, the CEO hired Van Halen band to play for a private showing at a coliseum which the CEO also rented and they had drinks and food while Van Halen played at the party.
This is awesome! I was at that show, I graduated from MHS in '02 and couldn't pass up the opportunity to see them, Such a good show, I waited for him afterwards in the Senior Lot and got to shake his hand.....so cool.

A VINTAGE '71?! OH MAN YOURE SOOOOO COOL. Derek could make a toaster plugged into a tennis racket sound ten times better than you, you daft fucker. Do you think Derek would give a DAMN about your amp? Hed probably ask why the fuck you were showing off. Youre the kind of person that gives guitar players a bad name.
Maybe i'd respect the very valid point you're trying to make if you had some basic knowledge of grammar. Unofotunately, you dont.
Guitar players have a knack for focusing too hard on gear "duane1allman" is completely missing the point. Its not the amp that sounds good. A vintage fender doesnt make any noise by itself.
LMAO at this Ebmajor7 kid. Grow up. The guy made a simple comment saying Derek would love to check out his '71, and I'm sure Derek would love to play on a '71 if he hasn't ready.
Even putting that aside you're completely wrong when you say "Its not the amp that sounds good".
An amp is arguably more important than the guitar when it comes to sound. A $5000 Fender Strat will sound like shit on a cheap little Squier amp.
It all comes down to the guitarists and his fingers but gear's important.
It's usually best not to insult someone's grammar, then misspell the next word ("unfortunately"), proceeding to follow THAT with a sentence with improper grammar.
Also, you're right in putting the primary importance on the guitarist himself, but you can't just write off the gear like it's unimportant. Heck, it's part of the guitarist's decision to even use the gear that he does.
I think Derek is one of the most original guitarists out there now. Defintaely know where much of his influence comes from and I think its a real honor.
Derek is one of the true original guitarists. Even before reaching age of 10, he started jamming with All Man Brothers. I saw him last year with Eric clapton, and he was amazing.

Since Derek USES (or used to use) 1965 and 1968 Super Reverbs, I bet he would enjoy seeing and listening to this guy's '71 version.
