@iKnifeU123 Its really simple. the XLR cables are gendered, or thaey have Male and female ends, the male ends go to the amp, female ends to your mixer. Just do one cable at a time and you will be set.
I have exact same amplifier driving 20 year old JBL Control 5 speakers. The JBL's are rated at 175W max input at 4 ohms, and this amp is putting up to 300W per side at 4 ohms. Is that a good match of the amp to speakers? I am also planning to buy the classic Yamaha NS-10M speakers which only have 120W max input at 8 ohms. Do you think I'll be able to use this amp with those speakers, or I shouldn't even attempt to connect the NS-10Ms to the XLX-202? Appreciate any response...
@dvamateur Its a fine amp for the job. but a bit overpowered. You can run those speakers off of it just watch the bass, this amp WILL blow those speakers if you turn it up too high.
@codemsan Hmmm... Still hard to make anything out of it. They usually run the NS-10Ms on Bryston amps, which are about 250W per side, and the speakers supposedly sound their best with the Bryston amp, but I won't be able to muster $2K+ for a Bryston amplifier. I got the XLS-202 from B&H for a very little over $200, so where's the catch? Why is the XLS-202 so cheap?
@codemsan How about the new digital Onkyo amp? It has 40W per side at 8 ohms. Maybe that would be a safer amp? But then I hear that if a week amp is strained, then it distorts and can burn the speakers, too.
@dvamateur I think more power is better, as long as you handle it properly. But if you are worried about blowing them then maybe a weaker amp is the way to go. and Yes it is true that using TOO weak of an amp can distort and hurt the amp/speakers, so try to find something in the 80-100W range
Im new 2 P.A amps and im wondering how do you adjust the bass and treble ? do u have 2 have an Equalizer for that ? im really wanting the Crown XLS1500 for both a Home Stereo and for my Guitar so i really need to know what i need and how 2 run it properly
@davinicus1727 you will need an EQ to adjust any frequencies. and as for running it properly, for BARE basics, what you will always do is power up any effects or EQs and signals first, then the amp. adjust the volume on the equipment to around 0db (it should say on the EQ that you will get) or as indicated by the amplifiers signal LEDs. then adjust the amps volume to a reasonable volume. anymore questions just feel free to ask!
@Vandalsqd0068 acually, the new XLS drivecore series has a XLS1000 that would work AWSOME with the dual 12"s. but if you wanted to get the type of amp i have, either the 602 or 802 is more than enough power
@codemsan your is a 202 the one im talking about is 602 and handles up to 1200w max and the duals is 1200w peak..600w rms.. would the 202 handle these speakers or should i go for the 602?
@Vandalsqd0068 yes i know, but i was saying crown has a newer version of the XLS that has more features and is more powerful that you might want to get instead of a 602. but if you want a simple amp that looks like mine, but more power, get the 602. its a good match for those speakers
It doesn't make "anyone better than anyone". But, imperatively, knowing basic connection types are rather important when issuing a critique of an audio component.
FYI: spades, lugs, pins, and wrapping are all methods commonly used in these now nearly universal connectors.
And BTW: if by commenting on my page that I "troll" you mean: that I make critical commentary on rather purposeless, misinforming, or frankly, daft videos posted on utube 4 the entire world 2 see...guilty as charged!!!
@mastermaybe Okay, fair enough, but ask yourself. how many people honestly need me to explain to them what a binding post is? i admit i was ill informed, but i looked it up for my own personal gain. and in fact, saying that i dont know what a binding post is may have even put that same question in alot of other peoples minds! so in turn...i guess it was an accident that lead to a more constructive ending. and trolling is a term used to desribe people who leave negative
@codemsan comments or use other such means of communication to intentionally put people down with no constructive outcome. and you cannot for a second tell me anythting constructive came from the first comment you left me.
@mastermaybe Okay, first off, where do you get off dissing me because i dont know what the original terminology behind a specific type of connector? and if you know that, that makes you better then me? i know you never said that but your statement implies it. Second, i know enough to give a proper review on this amp. who REALLY cares what it stands for, as long as the know that they accept banana plugs and bare wire, need anyone know more? i dont really think so....
Don't think you would ever one of these in a studio...

Nice sound during start up. I love this wwwhhuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. Crowns are making this very nice sound after louder playback for a longer time too.

@Pokemon7294 yeah they do that in order to compensate for the added heat, and to test the fan on startup. i like it too lol

Does this work sorta like a PA system? Because my dad has a PA and it has like 200 knobs of every sort you could think of!
zker666 1 year ago
@zker666 its similar to a PA amplifier, acually you could use it for public address, but i use it mainly for music
