  • This is like the 100th time I've watched this video..seriously. Love it way too much!!

  • theyre so dang cute. i wish they were my friends.

  • I was surprised when he turned around and used a completely lower voice than the rest of the song the first time i saw this :/

  • great song

  • Oh TMBG, you're so Brechtian.

  • 1:30

Linnell right up in your face.

  • Dallas was sold out. So I drove seven hours to Tulsa instead.

Soooo worth it. Also, Tulsa kind of sucks.

  • They make up such crazy lyrics lol it's great

  • The pianist and drummer look alike.

  • @johnhyde4 they probabley get that alot

  • I just saw them live in Dallas tonight, with them playing this as part of their setlist.

    AMAZING!

  • @StalinHadADaughter Wanted to go, but it was sold out.

  • This is the first song i've heard from the new album that i liked, and i Really, Really liked it! TMBG is back!!! YAY!!!!!

  • When her turns his back to us I love him even more

  • you guys are my favorite. keep existing. because you're really good at it.

  • 5 people don't get that a lot.

  • i love reading the comments for tmbg videos. y'all be smart and fun to read.

  • @waverlytower me too, i haven't played AQWorlds for like 2 years then i come back and this is on the first mission

  • Please keep melting down soldiers into green tea TMBG!

  • I, probably with many others, discovered them though AQW. That was a brilliant career move on their part.

  • @waverlytower I had no idea that was even a thing. That's cool they did that!

  • I really love the way Linnell writes lyrics

  • @jessasong with a pencil?

  • looks like john and john are getting older. and now they're even older. and now they're even older.

  • Always loved this band... Yet another awesome song.

  • TMBG! They are definitely one of our major influences...

  • Every now and then I see Linnells' intense stares in my dreams.

  • @shyvixen1313 I went to a concert last fall up in the front and I know from RL experience how awesome his stares are. HE LOOKED INTO MY SOUL!

  • BEST SONG EVER!!!!!!

  • i love how they make even love songs really nerdy...GOD I LOVE THEM

  • うーーー。。。カッコイイ。。!

  • TMBG IS AMAZING!! LOVE EM!

  • AMAZING SONG!

  • Although millions of cephalophores are marching past my door

They're invisible to me, except for one cephalophore? yes, actually i do get that a lot. why just the other day david tennant whispered it to me.

  • I love how Linnell stops lip syncing at the line about lip syncing while looking at the camera with that gleam in his eyes that says "I'm so clever." It's perfect.

  • never gonna stop loving these guys.

  • "You act like I am stating the ob

    Vious"

    Best lyric ever.

  • 4 people probably don't get that a lot.

  • I love how their dance moves haven't changed in 30 years. Linnell still jerks around awkwardly, Flans still plays the guitar like he's a robot in a marching band, and they both hop around and flail a bit. <3 John love 4 lyfe.

  • I Love They Might Be Giants. Amazing band and they have the best looking front men ever.

  • Dislikes!? WHAT THE FLYING FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE!?

  • Another brilliant production from TMBG.

I guess they took down all the "album raises troubling new questions" songs from youtube because I can't find em.

  • I feel like I learn new things with just about every TMBG song.

  • It's so interesting how you can look up the lyrics to TMBG's songs and find how this song's meaning is completely ridiculous, but somehow makes perfect sense. I love it!

  • I'm going to like and keep rewatching this video. Though, you probably get that a lot.

  • Still keeping it fresh and fancy free after all these years! I don't see an expiry date ever happening :D

  • John Linnell would make such an awesome Mad Hatter.

  • When I figured out where in the song he had stopped lipsyncing... I broke out laughing!

  • @timshoppa0 lol i saw that too lol! they are refering to the lyrics

  • Flansy is such a great director

  • My God, John Linnell is over 50 years old now. I would have never guessed from his voice.

  • I pushed the like button then wrote this comment while I was waiting for the video to load. It's They Might Be Giants, so I don't need to actually see the video before pushing like. By the way, thanks for visiting SLC last Friday, the show totally rocked. Hope you come back soon.

Alright. Video loaded. Commence two minutes and 51 seconds of pure TMBG bliss.

  • best deliver of spontaneous - ly ever

  • @lauren1770 Badass. ;)

  • Amazing song. TMBG sure as hell aint gettin rusty.

  • This sorta takes me back to the video for Older.

  • Name another band that writes songs about cephalophores.

  • @zippyd Name another band that knows what a cephalophore is...

  • LOVE IT!!!!

  • Big fan of the suits! HOT!

  • Happy 25th birthday, Pink Album!

  • Anyone else think Linnel looks like cristopher loyd?

  • @AlmightyTallestGreen haha, I can kinda see that

  • I see SOME cinematographer took notes from Dr. Worm.

  • @armicron well, this video and "doctor worm" were both directed by john f.

  • The best music videos are often the ones where it just looks like the band's having a good time playing the song, like Elvis Costello's 'Pump It Up' video.

  • Could you do videos for all the songs? Please?

  • Great video! These guys never change. I love the part where Linnell stops singing but you can still hear him, and he chimes in for "-ly." So great!

  • Rock and Freakin' Roll!

  • Hope you guys won't just lip-synch along as I say, thank you so much for this video! As people sometimes point out (you 'get that a lot'!), it's so nice when you're actually in the video. T+m+B+G = Energy(Massive Energy)

  • Also, I compared this video to the "Older" video from Brave New World. John and John barely changed, they just have slightly different hair!

  • @ohmycaribou exactly!

  • It's weird...I like to pretend that Linnell is talking to me in this song.

  • Thanks to this video, I now know what a cephalophore is! Thanks TMBG!

  • If Fred Rogers was alive today, he would have had TMBG on his show. B-)

  • Why am I jumping in my seat with you guys?

  • I like this song, I also like that TMBG are putting out new works!

  • I think of how many people said that Revolver and Rubber Soul could have been released as a double album because of their similar feel, and I believe the same goes for Join Us and The Else. Two kids' albums later and they picked up right where they left off. :)

  • Bahaha.. If they'd done the entire video with Linnell standing there staring at the camera like at the end, I would have been just as happy... Great stuff, very classy

  • Loving the videos. I like how this one fits the Cloisonne video so well. (Linnell is wearing the same tie!)

  • This song made me start pronouncing the b in 'obvious'.

  • I like this video. One of my favorites on the album. Linnell and Flans look great. I like the whole suit and tie thing. I also appreciate Miller's keyboard skills, it makes the song.

  • Compared to their Ana Ng, which took me a day, I think I'm going to need a year to digest the symbolism contained with in this video.

  • The Johns are just as cute as the video for TNAC. However, the "band" has certainly gotten cuter since 1989 (sorry old dudes).

    Great song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • One person thought the words were sung spontaneously.

  • Holy- I just realized how much older John looks. Now I feel old, too. Sigh.

  • @MrBooker15366

    still gorgeous! :D

  • Wonderful video! Great work, guys!

  • Awesome, I hope you do a video to the Lady & The Tiger next!

  • You guys are hot...but you probably get that a lot.

  • You guys Rock!!! ... but you probably get that a lot.

  • I love this song! ... but you probably get that a lot :-P

  • Fun fact: A cephalophore is a saint who is typically depicted as carrying their own severed head, typically used to symbolize that said saint had been martyred by beheading.

    And now you know.

  • It is a great album, but somehow I don't really like this song a lot...

  • can't wait to see you guys at the Fillmore!

  • Flansy rocking the moustache!

  • Did anyone else look at the last three Tags in the description? LOL

  • John L is starting to look like a younger Eric Idle to me...

  • I love the lip syncing part! Genius.

  • You probably get this a lot, but, I just love your music TMBG.I mean, I bet that people say that a lot to you guys. The way you swing your arms while singing, Linnell, is awesome. Or melting some guitars with your hot chords, Flans, to make sweet music. Though there are millions of bands that rock in this world, you've got something extra going on. I think you probably know.

  • Absolutely love it, Linnell's expression, the staccato shots of the band, Flans' extravagant strumming motions, the suits! Refreshingly different version than the studio one, music to my ears. :)

  • Flan's leftie moves continue to entrance...schweet vid...

  • This video rules

  • The concept is so simple, yet I can't stop watching. It's such a beautiful video. And suits.

  • My favorite song on the new album...

  • I like the "scale" middle section. Low G to D below middle C and down again to G. Nice to also see a "Band" video. Showing their age but still looking good.

  • @mkpianofab Linnell has always been great at those cascading melodies.

  • Linnell is ADORABLE!

  • Linnell has gotten better....in Pittsburgh he looked very uncomfortable singing this. <3

  • @jenzahara He's not used to having his hands free!

  • FLANSBURGH, LINNEL, BELLER, MILLER, & WEINKAUF! -

    YOU!

    ME!

    THIS SATURDAY!

    Love,

    -Boise

  • Wootington!
