Good video. I just ordered the Peak 4GB CF card for my 2gen iPod. Being optimistic (and I did a fair amount of research) it should pop right in and 'automagically' work. Will write back once I get it installed.

actually, you can put in a lot more memory if you are stupid, sorry, willing enough to spend mad amounts of money on it. The idea is great, but the fundamental flaw apart from the fact its so difficult is the fact you can pickup these iPods for literally pennies with a hard drive in and in the end, unless you are bothered about the 1 second delay before each song (im not) then there is no real point in doing this.

If you're putting this into your iPod, chances are it's not for getting rid of the song delay. Flash memory has other benefits than just faster loading. It runs off less energy so the battery lasts longer, it has no mechanical parts at all so dropping the iPod is MUCH less likely to kill it, it lasts about 4x as long as a mechanical hard drive, which means 20 years. It also runs cooler but unless I'm mistaken, heat is not really a problem for iPods to begin with.

Ofcourse, I wasn't necessarily suggesting that flash memory had only one benefit. Obviously it improves your ability to go running with it etc and throw it about. The main problems with iPods is that the hard drive actuator tends to slip out of the range of the axis. Funny really, old hard drives in computers used to have the same troubles.
