The tone you get out of that guitar is tremendous. It's almost like its being played through a bass rig with the treble pushed right up. It's fantastic.
Hey! um.....Id sacrifice my eyes to learn this song. Can you tell me your refference material? or was it learned simply from watching the video? Is there a transcription available for purchase anywhere online?
THIS is what should get discovered. Not that Justin Beaver crap. THIS is truly Grammy-worthy. Unfortunately the standards for the Grammy and the entertainment business as a whole has significantly changed for the worst since being established.

just an unbelievable sound. Incredible to describe. It is his own Technique of playing. I didnt saw someone play like this. Thank you for this Music, man
every time i listen to erik i am completely oblivious of words or expression u truly are brilliant and i thank you for posting ur music it soothes me when im unsoothable thank you
I know I cant find your CD's in any store around me, and I live in Atlanta, GA. I will never hear you on the radio..... People just don't understand GIFTED when they see it. Don't ever stop!
He holds it like his best freind! Thats what it should be!!!!!! You have the most heart! No artist out right now can compare. The last one I saw with your heart is Stevie Ray Vaughn or Andy Mcgee. You humble Me ...... Thank You!
I cannot even think of the words generous enough to comment on Erik Mongrain. His sound is so unique he cannot be compared to anybody else in the world and his skill is unmatched by any guitarist I've ever seen. Amazing
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Very cool. If you really dig this type of guitar playing you should do a search for flamenco guitar that is heavy with rasgueado. That is what those finger rolls on his right hand are called. Im diggin the sunrise pickup.
Hmm .. They are pretty much using the same techniques and are having the same source of inspiration (Don Ross, Michael Hedges..) .. So i would say that you can :D But whatever.. He is amazing!
Where Michael Hedges left off...(RIP...still feel that loss)...Erik has far surpassed. Very thankful he's, (Erik), on CD now...call me old school, (or just old). Vinyl would've been better ;)
amazing , an honor to share the same province as you hahaha ,truly this is the best of yours for my opinion ,your the only one who can beneath my soul with your music ,like when im playing mine , i cant imagine the feeling at this show i could had, while this song ,im just with my earphone and its speechless...
Rien de plus à dire que WOW. Bon son, belles images, guitariste hors pair. Pas étonnant qu'on puisse entendre ta musique sur Radio-Canada à l'émission de Jacques Languirand... Lâche pas mon homme!
you opened for Derek Trucks Band last night in Columbia MO and blew us away - Spectacular show, otherworldly beautiful music. look forward to more of the same - please come back soon!
Although you can compare Erik to Hedge's style, I really think this is a style in its own. I have never heard anyone play music like this. The melody is so subtle, but it's so elegant. Absolutely beautiful composition.
if i could play like that i dont think i could share it with the likes of me and you and your next door neighbour, i'd be to busy playing constantly. thank you erik hope you had a good christmas and all
One more thing, for what it's worth I will proliferate this amoungst all musicians and listeners that I know... I think this is a must hear for anyone with genuine appreciation for true music
Being a fellow musician also focusing acoustic fingerstyle(not on your level man) all I can offer is the truest respect for this... anything else I wouldn't even bother. Hearing this I think will pull me into 8 hour days on the guitar. True inspiration...
Great stuff man. Alot of your work sounds alot like mine, well...you obviously play on a much more technical scale than i do, i just mean with the droning bass line and odd melodies. The kind of music you can picture a small movie to in your head. Good stuff.
Later he may do a type of classical electric but these companys are probubly making guitars for him or designing them with the type of style that he does which is awesome. Sky's the limit really hes brill.
i dunno, i only know playing acustic with fingerstyle is outstanding.. hes a monster playing an acoustic, why change it? i think i wont like it beacuse too much electric pick players, he innovated lot from acustic but in electric is hard to see some different or creative in these days, what u think?
You know it's amazing how few views EM's vids get compared to Air Tap, it's a shame not so many people can enjoy songs like this but at the same time it makes his fan base feel more intimate, at least I think so.
that happens to alot of people on youtube. the reason airtap has so many views is that it was featured on the home page. his other stuff doesn't come up as often in searches, so its hard for people to discover it sometimes. i do wish more people were into this style, so it would help him with his career, but unfortunately most people will never be open minded enough to see the beauty in acoustic guitar music like this.
the most nicest thing is that he uses a bass element on a 6 string semi acoustic guitar and he knows how to use it spectacular if you ask me !!!

Erik's compositions are more complex then Hedges'. However, that does not mean that he is a better player. It's all a matter of opinion and taste.
To be honest, I feel privileged to hear them both.
