I don't understand why he is omitting the possibility that we will become cyborgs and not just be 100% pure human beings building artilects. The cyborgs could build an artilect and make it an extension of themselves and not something existing independently.

@barrylyndon21 He's aware of that, as is anyone watching the video. However, his point is that when such technology arrives people won't have the luxury to opt out and not have to worry, the very technology itself will require people to make an either or choice. Either they don't build these AIs, in which case the people who opt out of building AIs force their idea on those who did want to build them, or the ones who build them force the AI (unwittingly) on those who didn't want to build them.

The Terrans WILL FAIL in their attempt to stop the juggernaut of technological advancement. Nothing and no one can stop the singularity. An extreme Coronal Mass Ejection might delay it but otherwise it's coming.
