  • I came here for the Android OS. Sorry wrong room but very nice had to listen.

  • On September 21, 1957, this was the most played song by DJ's. It is also the day that a beloved third cousin came into the world. She left this world two days ago (12-22-2011). We will miss you, Fran.

  • @mkl62 I'm sorry for your loss.

  • @janet444 If that wasn't enough, my cousin's ex-husband died one week later in surgery (8-21-1955/12-29-2011). We will miss you too, Ricky.

  • @mkl62 Sending you and your extended family love and prayers.

  • I know all the words ~ still!!!

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • One of the best! Love you, Jimmy! Thanks for the memories...

  • Classic Awesomism!!!

    Great upload! Thanks for sharing!

    Very best of wishes!

    Bill

  • On Sept 28, 1957

"Honeycomb" by Jimmie Rodgers was the #1 song.

  • I <3 this song and im 13!! hahaha My friend and her grandma were in the car together and we all started singing this!(: <3 Aaa Good times(:

  • Im surprised he isnt in the hall of fame yet. Wonderful voice from my earlist memories Bimbombey.

  • Jimmy do you ever look at your web page here on honeycomb ..if so I would like to hear the rest of the story...I heard part of it on the Elvis station Friday as I was heading home and I would like to know more your story ..your faith and courage is admired. I would like to know if the men that tragically pulled you over and ended your music career were they caught and did you ever get the chance to meet them and say your peace and find out why?

  • This is NOT my type of music but I love this song.

  • @Geezyone So it might just be your "type" of music after all... : )

  • Thats great!

  • this is one of my favorite

  • my grandpa started singing this hahaha

  • Thank you Jimmy Rodgers, I was 7 then and loved it, love it now.

  • The best--good memories

  • According to the Top 40 list, this was number 8 in 1957, quite a bit before 1965.

  • saw him perform in branson, mo in 2000 or 2002 at Imax theatre. He was living in a small town close to branson and was writing jingles for commercials, etc and Imax talked him into performing for a year. we sat on the front row...loved it...at the end of the show he was standing at the back and shook our hand and we bought an autographed cd from him. one of the greatest-go listen to his "and their hearts were full of spring" here on youtube. it's the only place you can find that song.

  • the beginning of the vertabrate.

  • This song is such a classic that it almost transcends the "pop" label and has become folk music.

  • the old love songs are still the best they are all different not like the new ones now a day

  • your dad rival.

  • @HoneycombKid1 what do you think about your has a great rival

the other Jimmie Rodgers(Country music legend)?a great song.

    no doubt.

  • This song was an instant classic the moment Jimmy sang the first word of its lyrics.

  • Hey Michael - i really loved this song by your Dad...be proud!

  • Honeycombkid1: Your father had a great voice, and a beautiful command of the stage. He was a great singer, and a great performer.

  • I know he suffered a skull fracture years ago but does anyone know where he is now and what he has been doing to get by all these years?

  • I remember listening to this song the first time on my dads radio in the 60;s..

  • oooh boy!!

  • Almost impossible to find any recordings of this incredible man :(

  • @VioletGiraffe that's not cool he's a legend right up there with Elvis Richie Buddy and many mid 20th century music kings

  • @odog65

Absolutely! It's a shame he's not as famous as artists you've mentioned...

  • My first heartthrob; loved Jimmy Rodgers!

  • This song hit #1 on the Top 40 and Rhythm & Blues charts. It was the twenty-third #1 R&B hit of the Rock Era, proving that music had no boundaries.

  • Today is Jimmie Rodgers' Birthday & The True Oldies Channel just played this! :o)

  • my dad used to sing this song to my mother...always makes me smile!

  • @nyrainbow2 I've seen your Dad perform. FANTASTIC.

  • My dad has the Honeycomb album. This is the first song on side 1 and Kisses Sweeter Than Wine is the first song on side 2. Some of the other songs on that album are Jamaica Farewell, Mary Ann, and Wimoweh (The Lion Sleeps Tonight).

  • this is mine and my grandpa's song. i love it. :) <3

  • a great talent, strange huh a teenage idol with lots of talent

  • jimmie rodgers was great a teenage idol with real talent who wrote most of his songs and this one included. He was sadly pulled over one night by the Los Angeles police who almost beat him to death. After years of physical theorapy he recovered to almost a hundred percent and tried a comeback but it was not to be. I dont think anything was ever done to the police involved

  • ...He roamed the world Lookin' everywhere,

Gettin' lots from here And lots from there,

He, put it all In a little old part... ...of my baby's heart,

  • This song always cheers me up! Love it!

  • Thanks for uploading. Jimmie Rodgers is my most favorite country singer of all time.

  • This is a damn shame I saw this video. I was looking for The real Jimmie Rodgers who sang real music not this pop repeating bullshit.

  • @TBRAMPAGE well, your Jimmie Rodgers died when this Jimmie Rodgers was born.. around 1933. This was recorded in 1965 according to the title. you shoulda known better than to click this!! but yeah i agree with your point of view

  • @TBRAMPAGE Do you consider country music as music? It's all simple-minded, back-water trash!

  • Yeah -- now that is cool :)

  • I'd never heard of this song till I saw the "Iron Giant" just fell in love with it, got stuck in my head, has a calming thing about it.

  • The Blossoms? They was on Elvis Comeback 68!

  • Mqn this SUCKS compared to his recording.

  • would sure like to know names of musicians on this clip (and all YT clips), they rock.

  • @cliffworks4321

Also the band featured Billy Preston on keyboards and and Delaney & Bramlett on vocals.

  • Ladies in the back are Darlene Love and The Blossoms.

  • I like military bands, you know the scots marching, those ladies in the back remind me of that and their legs are nicer

  • love this

  • i have a "honeycomb" 78rpm record that i got from a thriftstore.but its an older square dancing version by the sundowners band.

  • lol i went to highschool with his youngest daughter, my teacher asked him to come to school once and i got his autograph. didnt evne know who he was until he said he sung for a spaggheti-o's commercial.

  • i remember my youth when my brother Donnie would sing many of Jimmie Rodgers accompanied by his guitar. love you Jim.

  • There are two Jimmie Rodgers who were singers. One, known as "The Singing Brakeman" lived from 1897-1933. This Jimmie Rodgers was born in 1933 and is still alive. They are not related.

  • Jimmie Rodgers has his own website, and he's making available his music and videos:

    jimmierodgershoneycomb . com

  • Jimmie Rodgers is 76 and still alive and kicking, he was born in 1933!!

  • I remember back when the cereal Honeycomb came out in the late sixties and they used this song in the commercial. Yes, I'm old.

  • Jimmie was born in 1897 and thusly is in heaven now.....

  • Jimmie was born in 1933. :/

  • All I know is what I found on a web page - I was just a baby in 65 :) Either way, he made a big impact and is now gone....

  • "The world I used to know," by Jimmie, is one of the most beautiful songs of all time.

  • Anyone know how I can get a personalized autographed picture of JImmie ?

  • where is Jimmie now? is he still performing? i hope he still has the jumpy voice like this one.

  • i would like to know the people in this, the dances etc

  • got to hang out with him the other day... he's way cool!! Has MANY stories about is past!! Sad he lost his voice....

  • Know where I can get a recording of this? I like it a whole lot better then the '57 hit parade version - even WITH all the screaming girls in the background...

  • AWESOME! Thanks for finding and posting. I grew up hearing this stuff

  • My older sisters and I grew up listening to Jimmie Rodgers on the radio and singing along. Gorgeous man with a pure tenor voice. We had little girl crushes for sure. I just downloaded my favorite songs from iTunes, and they bring back so many memories.

  • Awesome! Don't know where you got this ,but I thank you.Lot's of memories:)

  • Jim Rodgers is one of my favorite. I saw him on a oldie show a few years back and I think he mentioned he had some kind of condition, that effected his voice. He sounded like a whisper during that show, however is enthusian was great ! What a great man !!

  • He lives up the Washougal River in SW Clark County, Washington. Hometown boy. Just fishin' and enjoying the good life!

  • no he lives in Palm Desert i kick it with his daughter

  • I like this song.

  • This IS the Jimmie Rodgers I was looking for . That's for sure! ALso love his "Kisses Sweeter Than Wine"

  • Could you ask your father what he means by hank of hair and a piece of bone, i rememebr this song when i was a very little kid. i was watching tv tonite and they were playing oldie songs this was one. my husband told me that this song was banned when it first came out. and i don't know why.

  • Aww, that's easy. You see (and this song came out in '57) The world is and always has been . . run by ***holes

    Hope that helps ya ;)

  • thanks for posting! Confederatly,Johnnyreb[Alabama]

  • I'm trying to find Bimbombay on here, but not having any luck...anyone know where I can find it?

  • if you have msn i can send it to you

  • Great video! This morning I was singing this song to my four year old as we ate her Honeycomb cereal...I remembered the song from playing my mom's 45 record of the song when I was growing up! She is in her 60s now. I wanted to play the song for my daughter, but didn't know where to find it. Then I thought...YouTube of course! Thanks to whoever posted this!

  • good song, wasn't the Jimmy Rogers I was looking for, but it's still good music...I wonder what ever happened to him?

  • Sweet!

  • do you have "Hey There" by Jimmy? Thanks. God bless.

  • I was just chatting with his son and thought I'd check to see if he had anything on here.Good old song that is still great to here on the radio today.

  • he got into some kind of trouble with cops, got clubbed, brain damage ?

  • This man is amazing, i love this song !!!

  • WHY hasn't this man been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame?????

  • I thought he WAS inducted ! that's a DAMN shame !! Evidently he's still around and I'd like to see him get it while he's alive !! Madonna's there and he's NOT ?!? B.S.

  • Love this song. I was singing this recently while driving after seeing a guy selling honey and honeycomb on the side of the road. My wife said I was making it up LOL. Well I got home and played it for her and I said I wish I was talented enough to make this up.

thanks for posting this great song and video.

  • Love this song by Jimmie Rodgers..love Jimmie Rodgers, too! :) *****

  • hello sir jimmie rodgers>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

we loved and enjoyed ur music here in the philippines. and taht u still have an avid fans right here. come visit us again soon :)

  • haha Jimmie Rodgers MC is more like it

  • He sure could sing!

  • I am sooo glad I grew up in the 50s. The songs and the singers from that era were the absolute best. This song still puts a smile on my face however, to this day, just looking at Jimmie Rodgers still makes me feel like I'm going to faint. He was sooooo cute.

  • Yep they were some real good times eh! I would go back in a minute. Ahh the old high school dance with the Platters singing "Great Pretender" and some cute girl snuggled up real close. Just seems like yesterday?

  • The 50s were nice- great music, beautiful cars...

Hey, don'tm you like the songs of today? Most are about drugs, rape and killing people.

  • Actually most of the songs today aren't about that at all, those kinda songs are still considered non-mainstream songs. But yeah, today's music is nowhere near what it used to be. I still prefer old music to new. 70's and 80's music is still my preferred genre.

  • 70s and 80s music SUCKS. 50s and early 60s is the best, by far!

  • I just love this song!!!

  • nice to see some live footage of JR Keep on posting (Keep Rocking!)

  • I love classic music, don't really matter what genre either.

  • Earlier than 1965 surely?

  • Yes, more like 62

  • thanks for posting this...

my whole family always loved jimmie and all his songs...

    great man...

  • Wow!

Thanks so much for posting this.

Jimmie Rodgers is my father and this is one that I have never seen. Do you know what show this is from? Where did you find this?

    All the best,

    Michael Rodgers

  • Hi, So, you are Jimmie Rodgers son. I am in my 60's and he was and is one of my very favorite all time artists. I wish you every success in seeing where this video comes from

    Respectfully,

  • Great to hear from one of his kids!

I enjoyed/loved Jimmie Rodgers in the '50's, '60's.... all the way to the 2000's!!! Let him know that he still has rabid fans! ;)

Sure was disappointed when his "big" career came to a screeching halt... still am, really!

    Great to see this footage!

  • Michael, I guess you can let your dad know that even today he still has a lot of fans. I can't believe he wasn't in the Hall of Fame....at 10 years old he got me hooked on music. Is there any effort or desire to make sure he gets in the hall of fame? Thanks. John, Laguna Beach, Calif

  • @HoneycombKid1

hows your father doing these days?

  • @HoneycombKid1 Seriously?! My sister's 45 collection was handed down to me, and this is one of my favorites...the record with the red lable is so-o-o scratchy from thousands of plays. It just doesn't get catchier than this. He has a lovely voice!! Sure wish singers today had class and talent like this!

  • @HoneycombKid1 hello my name is Andy and my father Bob Pollock grew up with your dad in washington. I spoke with your dad recently when my father passedaway and he said that he was going to be releasing a biography. has is come out yet

  • @HoneycombKid1 Hi Michael, So exciting to see your Dad's "Honeycomb" on YouTube! ust a little history. Around 1957 (?) I was playing the organ in a club in Portland, and had met Colleen McClatchey before I met Jimmie. She had been in a horrible auto accident and they were married in the hospital. After she got out of the hospital, they wanted to have a church wedding. I played for their wedding. We saw them w/baby in concert in Vancouver, WA at a HS.God bless you! Loretta Muralt Holstein

  • @HoneycombKid1 he,s a bad man, where did he learn the moves that style

  • @HoneycombKid1

My mom and I used to sing this all the time. It was something that she grew up with and I then grew up with it. This brings back so many memories, if you really his son, I want to send my thanks your father has given me great memories with my mom

  • Great song, I'm always on you tube looking for quality songs like this, cause the songs produced nowadays are rubbish, in the 50s there was Elvis & Eddie Cochran, in the 60s there was The Beatles & The Beach Boys, in the 70s there was Slade & Marc Bolan, in the 80s there was Omd & Big Country, it started going wrong in the 90s with Club Music, now we're in the era of manafactured bands, you don't need talent now, look how successful boyzone were & none of them can play an instrument.
