its really just a commenting system from all your friends like what they are currently doing or if they have something to say to everyone. Really no different than some commenting things on myspace and other sites. I personally don't like twitter. Some people can't get enough of web apps and such. But i don't really care for em. I find myself doing other productive things. :) no offense to anyone that deals with Twitter OCD. lol

I use Flock, which features all the big social networks, and I use Trillian Astra, which has a Twitter client built in, albeit slightly buggy due to being in alpha still. It updates me in real time of new tweets like it would someone signing in or IMing me.
