Agree. If the dollar tanks and foreign goods become too expensive, this may help USA businesses fill in the gap left by foreign producers. We need a very 'soft' landing for the dollar and more liquidity for small businesses from regional lending institutions.

The economy isn't getting any better in Hawaii. I live here. There are businesses that have closed that have been around for years. The beaches have a lot less tourist. There are families that are sharing homes. The tourist that do come are lucky. It's not crowded. Some businesses are thriving though. Like the resturaunt my wife works at; I guess because they have a great location at the mall and are very reasonably priced.

Conditions should not be like this two years into a downturn if labeled only a "recession". My economics textbook says depressions are a downturn that last more than a year and has high unemployment and a sharp reduction in output. Its important to remember a depression does not have to be as severe as the 1930s.

I came back to the east coast 3 months ago because the west coast is crumbling and I had no where to live and no money in my pocket. I decided to start several business with friends and people I trusted when I got back and today I am in my own house and have provided shelter, food, transportation and cell phones for many of my friends. Hey Demcad, You should go to the business people. Walk into some stores, or factories. Some places that produce items. See if they are laying off. And when you talk to the people ask them if they are doing any preparing for what is coming. It would be interesting to see how many are awake to what is really happening. Thank You for your Video's. Good idea to see where most people stand, and to find out how many are going to be caught off gaurd.

Because the average American has really only known times of plenty, I think admitting to the reality of what's coming, even if they don't fully comprehend it, is just way too scary for them to think about. Yeah, but in order to compete we have to put tarriffs (which would lead to trade wars) or pay our workers chinese style wages. Neither are going to happen. When our dollar collapses well be able to compete with china and other 3rd world countries, but itll be too late by then as we lose our reserve status.

The fact that we are almost two years into official recession and she says conditions are worsening. A lot of her relatives seem to keep getting laid off too. Conditions should not be like this two years into a downturn if labeled only a "recession". My economics textbook says depressions are a downturn that last more than a year and has high unemployment and a sharp reduction in output. Its important to remember a depression does not have to be as severe as the 1930s.
