  • Nothing new.

  • This has got to be heavier and with more drag than the existing gyrocopter designs that have been around for the past forty years or so.

  • I just invented a toilet with wings and got a patent on it, who gives a flying crap

  • I just invented the rich get richer

  • This video makes me mad because he did not invent a darn thing, the rich get richer

  • Shut up ppl just bc u can buy it doesent mean u can fly it in public airspace only land u own ( unless u don't get caught ) hows the police gonna Chase u lol but :) ;)

  • dude this thing is sweet!

  • it wont be legal to spin 10 foot blades over your neighbors house any time soon folks.

  • Yes it's an autogiro, but he has slapped a custom harley headlight and forks on it! Thats got to be worth a patent.

  • THATS MY NEWS STATION!!!

  • Storm Hawks anyone?

  • This guy has really inspired me Ive had this idea I should patent its a device to hold a camera that has 3 adjustable legs, whats so ironic is if I use a camera with a timer Ill be able to take pictures with my arms held out like this great inventor does while using his invention

  • untell people get into accidents in the air and kill pre schoolers on the ground

  • get to the choppaa!!

  • great price, fantastic landing. hope it takes off :)

  • more like flying tricycle

  • What is the fuel used?

  • @sreeshankarlal1 , its a motor cycle engine, so im guessing, high grade rocket fuel

  • whats the fuel being used?

  • WOOOOOW! An Autogyro. This guy is REALLY behind in the times. These have been aroubd , like, forever!

  • stupid americans with their stupid patention!

  • now fix a boat under a it and a jet engine on the back and there you have the all terrain heliboatplanacycle......and with this comment i own the idea.....so now built it and give me a couple of millions......:P

  • i would love to get stuck in a power cable in one of those !

  • Comment removed

  • Totally illegal. They don't allow these to fly over any populated areas. A propellor driven motorcycle? no way. that thing is top heavy, and will tip in traffic and make a smoothie out of the driver and others. No news story here.

  • I don't care what none y'all say, I still love 'er.

  • He invented the auto gyro! . . . Wait. . .

  • america design..... too messy

  • another american copying an english idea remember james bond

  • This... flying thing has nothing to do with a motorcycle. A headlight and a bike looking front wheel doesn't make this ordinary autogiro a flying motorcycle. If this "inventor" has patented his "creation" then he's thief and he commited plagiarism

  • nice so we get dick heads flying as well as driving, cant wait!

  • Must be easier for rag headed muslims to bomb buildings now. Well going idiot.

  • who the fuck would use a harley, a japanese produced i-4 would be much better and faster.

  • thats huge, tall, bulky, unattractive, and not very innovative sorry. A good flying motorcycle would be a motorcycle with cockpit. similar to the look of ones in that tron game with a sleek aerodynamic shape that opens up the possibility of speeds faster than 70. the side panels fold out to two winds with a good glide ratio. the bike is also powered on and off the street by a pulse jet that runs off hydrogen. safety parachute that is attached to bike also included. make that shit. no, ill do it

  • an easier way to get through traffic would be to get rid of the third wheel and make yourself thinner, ohwait we already have those their called motorbikes.

  • Whole new way to look at a Harley? Oh brother. It's a trike, not a motorcycle.

  • is fantastic, I hope it can be used soon

  • Duh, this is just a gyro-copter. Been around for decades.

  • If it drops due to malfunction, the rotor will cut the pilot it is not safe

  • Are these just for Hell's Angels?

  • Just imagine what plod will think when he is unable to issue you a speeding ticket.

  • Moller had a flying car - never happened.

I would be surprised if this is commercially available today.

  • einfach.......................spitze

  • i would kill myself on that thing i would do a twin towers into a building

  • Whoa, is this even legal? i cant imagine being able to fly to where you want for only 25,000

  • yeah kuz ya know everyone wants to break down by accident fall to their death and on top of that possibly getting hit by anything that normally flies but is landing and cant stop in time before they hit yhu.. this may take some time.

  • Yeah, apart from making it road worthy in taxi mode it's just a classic autogyro.

Because the main rotor is only spinning due to slipstream it can't takeoff vertically like a helicopter but has to get a run up to spin the rotor up to speed. Which is the main reason Autogyros are less common than helicopters. It can land vertically however.

  • Unpowered rotor on top? WTF? How is it unpowered?

  • Check out Helicopter Kite. Same concept for the unpowered rotor on top.

  • New???

Looks like an Autogyro to me.

  • Last I heard that was called a gyrocopter

  • News reports can be so misleading. This is a gyrocopter , autogyro, or Benson gyrocopter variant. There is no motorcycle period. Motorcycles have 2 wheels. The gyrocopter has been around for more than half a century. This one has a glorified snowmobile 2 cycle engine in it and better suspension. The part they did not show when driving it around is the fact that it's pushed by the propeller. Yea right! Imagine driving to the mall with a 6 foot propeller spinning at 2500rpm.

  • Yes, just a gyrocopter variation.

  • gyrocopter nothing new... autorottating...

  • wtf it a autogyro with a few modifications a dead baby could make

  • Yeah sure, but could a dead baby with no arms or legs make those modifications?

Now you see where the limitations come in.

    :-)

  • imagine a drive by in that

  • no traffic tickets

  • haha thats awesome

  • OMG OMG OMG OMG

    I WANT!!

  • Oh yea ... Autogyro trike...

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!Theyve made the future car!

  • @canupopben So that's bad..?... lol

  • what with all the hate all because modern man is dim and wont think outside the box with tech that is available hey i like not the best but if it works it works

  • does it have any safety features? oh WAIT its a fucking bike-copter, combining the crashability of a bike and a chopper into one to create a perfectly unsafe veheicle for the 21st century!

  • its just an autogiro, nothing new atall

  • oh, right like the ones the 1930s futramas all said we'd be flying around in by the '60s

  • i just mean this technology has been around for ages. someone putting the fork off a motorbike off the front doesn't make it any more accessible than it was before

  • lol

  • Who would feel safe on this with a big rig tailgating you? And he didn't invent anything, it's just your average autogyro with a motorcycle tire on the front.

  • Thats local news for you..

  • That's a gyrocopter with 3 wheels like a trike--TRI = 3!!

    NOTHING like a motorcycle.

  • I like how he "invented" and "patented" something invented in 1923 by Juen de la Cierva.

  • OMG! Its the Gyrogander from Mad Max!!!!!

  • how could u kill the engine and float to the ground like in a parachoute

  • I guess the blade keeps spinning for a while.

  • It's called autorotation , I'm not good at explaning , check it out on wikipedia , it's common for rotary wing aircraft , in fact there's autogyro aircraft that flyes using the same idea.

  • Comment removed

  • One way to get past a traffic jam!

  • And all that for only $25,000 ?!?!

  • This is baloney, the autogiro was already invented and patented, how is the idiot that gave them the patent?

  • I spot a Subaru Boxer Engine!!!

  • I just wonder if how much you will spend on the gas?

  • Isn't this just a helicopter?

  • Two questions.

    1) Would you need a parachute in case of emergencies

    2) Do you need a pilots licence to fly it ?

  • Squadalaw were off!

  • Here is the MAP, where do you wish to go?

  • Gwonam quote?

  • lol so i can spend hal fa mil on a lam that drives on the ground or spend 25k to fly over it... sounds like a deal to me lawl

  • flying bike...yeah...only if de la cierva (autogyro inventor) could raise up...

  • OFGS. its a ruddy Autogyro. They've been around for years. Check out James BOND !!

  • Congrats, you invented an autogyro (1923 first flight)

So you still have to drive to the airport, fumble with tools, then fly at only 70 mph airspeed hoping there is no headwind? Land at another airport, fumble with tools again, then drive to your final destination. These shortcomings have doomed many flying vehicle prototypes for decades. I am pretty sure a regular car could beat the point to point time of this thing over any distance with far more comfort.

  • wow, a genius redneck

  • How he patented an autogiro by calling it a flying bike? This is so dumb...

Btw... I patented the round things that invetion rolls on... I just can't find a suitable name for them... I'm thinking at something like... "wheels"? What do you think?

  • you might be onto something there pal

  • I remember that story on the news. Whatever happened to this guy?

I thought he has an awesome idea.

  • thank god ..he landed safe...

  • TRIKE

  • people are too stupid to keep out of car accidents .. how do you expect them to fly ..

  • for real...i think everyone should have to go thru a long ass technical pilot school to get there drivers liscence

  • The only trouble is an autogyro doesn't have vertical take off, so flying in rush hour traffic is not possible

  • You wouldn't take off from right in the middle of traffic.

  • The main problem with a flying car is not the engineering, there have been working fly-drive vehicles for 30 years or more. The problem is you need a private pilot's license to drive the thing. And most people can't spare the cost or time needed to earn one.

  • It would work as a commuter car get you to work up to 70 mph going direct to your destination. This could make your 1 hour commute 15 min. With gps you can take the same path each time to avoid hitting things at night. My commute is up to an hour with traffic about 30 min on average 30 miles I have made it to work in 20 min but violated a few speed laws in the residential areas no worry @0400 all the yipers are fast asleep. This is the price of a prius but you get too wet here 70769

  • please im suer i want one

  • dont you need a fuckn flying permit? lol.

  • @josepacheo ..Then driving permits will be trashed and flying permits will be the future...Ironically everyone said that and that still never happened.

  • Looks dangerous. Noicy. Probably a lot of air polution.

  • lmao what if he stands when the rotor is rotating on top of him

  • Thats great and all, but the "bottom half" being a motorcycle, is the ugliest trike ive ever seen. I still want one though...

  • And I'm not too sure a pusher propellor is the safest way to power a motorbike

  • that is soooo cool! i want one!

  • youtube: Wallis Autogyro...

  • Why does he say that he can shut off the engine high above and it comes down smoothly, I am sure it would fall like a log if he shuts the engine down.

  • An autogyro is characterised by a free-spinning rotor that turns due to passage of air upwards through the rotor. The vertical component of the total aerodynamic reaction of the rotor gives lift for the vehicle, and sustains the autogyro in the air.

  • :46 says "an unpowered rotor on top creates enough lift for it to fly."

  • he said with a parishut

  • unlike helicopters the autogyro rotor is not coupled to the engine and therefore when the forward motion stops the rotor acts like a parachute to let it fall slowly to the ground. Its not a new idea by any means and has been around for years.

  • This is a gyrocopter. They were around in the 1930's. The new thing I guess is the folding rotor, because I don't see how you patent a gyrocopter otherwise.

James Bond flew one in _You Only Live Twice_. Doc Savage had several. What with all the weird gadgets and such in the books and movies, it's sort of cool that this one is real.

  • ahahahaha aI cracked up when he just used da horn in the end ahahaha

  • yea i use to fly one of those things in pilot wings 64

  • Lol. I used to love playing Pilot Wings 64. The gyrocopter was fun untill you crashed it. Then it was hilarious.

  • its called a fucking gyro copter i have on man the news sucks balls

  • WTF are you trying to say? Do you like sounding like a retard in public? Moron.

  • You guys are fucking stupid and educable to about 6th grade level. The props don't propel the motorcycle on the highway. A transmission transfer engine power to the wheels in riding mode.

  • Hey beblie99,

When you're calling other people fucking stupid, don't make up words like 'educable' as this insures that you're fucking stupid. LOL

  • JaleelJohanson62 you are the stupid one as "educable" is a word; look it up in the dictionary if you don't believe me. Too bad that you are illiterate or you would have known that.

  • Yeah right, as if it would ever be possible to license this thing for use on public streets!

And what kind of driver's license would be required - motorcycle? Aviator license?

I just cannot imagine this vehicle ever meeting government safety standards to actually be used. This thing has about as much chance to be approved for street use as a fully-loaded Sherman tank would.

Just one more useless invention that will never make it.

  • I would say to your parents that you were the first useless invention. LOL

  • Not as useless as sitting on your rear wasting away behind a computer screen thinking of reasons why people should try to acomplish anything else. Did you put off getting a car because you had to get a liscense?

  • ILikeMIDI:

This guy would have been better off putting his time and energy into inventing a practical electric car. Not only would he have made billions, but he would have solved a transportation problem for millions. This goofy thing he invented is nothing but a toy that I guarantee you will never see on the roads because obviously this thing won't be safe for other vehicles around it and will NEVER be approved for street use by the government.

I'm sorry that you are too stupid to see that.

  • Neil, You seem very threatened by a flying motorcycle. What are you affraid of? How would it be if this was just an interesting invention? Imagine how it would feel to just accept it as an invention and not feel angry. Invent a practical electric car? It's already been done. Where have you been?

  • a dually licensed citizen. and i'm not talking about dual citizenship. if a person were to have their (M1) and their heli license, or gyro copter license they just might be able to pull it off. after all this isn't the first time a ground/air vehicle has been in legal use. "de plane masta de plane".lol. i couldn't help myself.

  • PreciousxAbnormality:

At no time has a ground/air vehicle been in legal use on the streets. Anything that flies would have to be approved by the FAA and they aren't about to let someone take off in traffic with other cars around it nor land back on a public street in traffic.

That's why this is a pipe dream.

  • I got to agree Neil, this thing would never be allowed on the streets as it would be too much of a safety hazard for other vehicles and pedestrians. This news lady must be smoking crack if she seriously believe this thing will ever be in use in her lifetime.

  • So how about you DON'T take off and land in traffic? How about you land at a little airport and then drive to your house or the big business meeting or you hot date or whatever? Then you drive back to the airport and take off from there?

Since the rotor has to be folded for driving and unfolded for flying, it's pretty obvious that taking off from and landing on Main Street during rush hour was never part of the plan.

  • SailorBarsoom:

You said, "So how about you DON'T take off and land in traffic? How about you land at a little airport and then drive..."

Then what in the world is the purpose of this stupid thing since doing it as you suggest can already be accomplished by using a separate car and airplane???

I guarantee, you will NEVER see this piece of crap being used on the streets.

  • Why are you so hostile? Even if you're absolutely right about this, why is that important? So either it makes it to the streets or it doesn't. Big hairy deal either way.

  • SailorBarsoom:

I'm not hostile; I am just telling it like it is. Sorry if the truth offends people like you.

It really isn't important either way to me, but your replies keep ending up in my email. If you want to drop the conversation then quit replying to me.

Every time someone replies to my post I will answer it and defend myself. Understand now?

  • What if somebody replies, but doesn't attack you? Then there will be no need to defend yourself.

And as for this thing on the streets: not in its current form, no. The prop is right out there in the open. Too dangerous. It would be easy enough to fix that, though.

Really, there's another technology I like better. So if this gyrocopter doesn't end up running down Main Street, well I'm not going to cry about it.

  • WHo would drive that as a motor cycle?

I'd be flying that around an airport pissing the Air Traffic Controllers off. :D

  • Yes mate...it's called an AUTOGYRO!!!....been around for decades!!!....dunno' how safe an unprotected prop is while your driving along though?..decapitated pedestrians not really conducive to road safety..lol

  • Its not a motorcycle, its a standard gyrocopter, not roadable at all

  • what a smart news cast ... it's called an Autogyro and they were invented and flying close to 90 years ago ... if this guy gets a patent for this he deserves it because that will be one of the most impressive paperwork scams ever

  • I want one of those

  • Too Dangerous. Propeller Blades and power lines. yikes! Propeller blades everywhere!!!

  • ya i know, totally unpractical, i say maybe 5% of the people who are interested will buy it

  • Neat! Any units sold yet?
