3rd post (others below). Contrary to popular belief, the lead dog is not necessarily the alpha dog of the pack. Amos was the undisputed ruler of all my dogs just because of his personality, and only one or two others could have challenged him physically, but these were larger Malamutes who were raised with him as already a dominant adult dog, so they were always submissive to him. Oh, well, not wanting to bore you with old stories, but it brought back memories. You have a great dog!
I'd pay good money for a dog of this same breeding. I love both breeds. I love pure Mals very much, but that crossing has a special place in my heart,.As I was saying below, my dog Amos was very special. He was unbelievably devoted to me, and he also ran on my sled dog team for 10 years (a long time for a big dog). I had to run him at wheel (in the back by me) because he was too big to run in lead or point. He liked it, though because he was nearer to me and he could keep an eye on the team.
I had a dog of this same combo and he looked very much like yours. The colors and marking are identical. His name was Amos and he was the smartest dog I ever had. I could train him to do anything. He knew everything else naturally! He was a superb guard dog. He attacked a 600 pound black bear in my yard when I came out to see what the noise was. The bear couldn't touch him. He knew to attack only the rear. He made humans stand against the wall until I came outside and approved them. I miss him.
@MrLeebo123 theres 2 types of german shepherds, the show line with extreme tilted and sick spines, and then the working line with straight more healthy spine, used in police force
i think you made a better gsd because its got more muscle from the malamute its got a bigger head and the malamutes are a much more healthier breed then gsd so go job
Idk about agressive my shepherd growls like that well deeper and scarier when she plays. And if malamute play growling is expected. Could also be frustration from being tied
My parent's little jealous/territorial boston terrier/min pitbull tried stealing my 8 month old husky/doberman/shep's bone and about got her ass handed to her. lol. Terriers can hold on with their bite for anything but GSD's and northern breeds have insane amounts of crushing pressure with their jaws. Terriers are made to grip down but the Wolf-like dogs are made to snap bone.
@cepomwa its what it says in papaers and adds on the internet when lookin for a puppie to buy so ya thats the easiest way to say it lol what other ways is there ? loL
even from seeing him growl i can still tell he is an extremely nice dog.like i can tell.his breeds that are mixed are very nice dogs.AAAAAAAANd plus.what do you expect?hes poofy!
people need to chill out, you can hear the other do g in the background start growling at him, so he merely responded back at him. He was just showing some backbone. my dogs do it all the time, testing each other out but they're buds.
How do you guys know anything about this dog the owner knows their dog best and if somebody breaks into your house you would want your dog to be "aggressive" duhhh good vid tho
@Note2self2 I wouldn't want my dog to be 'aggressive' if someone broke into my house. Yes, I'd like for my dog to intimidate the one breaking in, but I would NOT want my dog to bite them. Why? Because burglars can (and often do) sue the home/dog owner if they were bitten. They often win. Yaaaay justice system! D:<
This looks like real aggression to me. I've not met the dog but you ask anyone who can read dogs. Why put on more info 'my 18month old puppy showing some aggression', therefore you ARE an idiot for encouraging this behaviour OR if you prefer 'an irresponsible dog owner'
@howarth997 It looks like "play aggression" to me, chill out, why are there always judgmental people picking on small details and looking to fight? Seriously.
@JMREPTILES tail wagging doesn't mean the dog isn't showing aggression... a lot of people think 'oh the dogs tail is wagging, it's ok', if you watch dogs fight for REAL or you see guard dog guarding for REAL, their tails wag.
@JMREPTILES We'll agree to disagree then ;) another point to make is the dog is tethered to a line with a lot of tension, which increases the intensity of aggression, I'd like to see the owner wind him up without the line on! Post a video & prove me wrong lol
@howarth997 ye i agree i only think it isent bcuz if u look at 20seconds it is play full im glad this never turned into a big deal haha nice to see that youtube isent full of internet gangsters :)
@howarth997 That's bollocks. His tail is wagging constantly. Malamutes and Huskies growl like mad when playing even....The other dog was playing with his toy, so he shows he is displeased with that.
It's unnecessary to punish a dog for displaying this. Unless you want a crawling lapdog.
@howarth997 I can read dogs. I study animal behavior and dog training. The owner said another dog stole his toy. Showing growling like that is perfectly fine. If he viciously lunged against his leash, snarling at the other dog and showed rage that would be unacceptable. By the looks of it were he not attached to that leash he would've ran over and probably stolen his toy back. Have you seen two dogs on a sofa with one toy between them? They growl back and forth at each other. Harmless.
@howarth997 I wouldn't be so sure. This is really nothing, he's just a little insecure. I've never met this dog but I guarantee if I met him in this "state of mind" it wouldn't take me longer than 2-3 minutes to play with him and have him lick my hands.
