  • Im liking these vids, but man, @ 3:30 or so.... You wave that gun in my face one more time and ill shove it up yer ass. :P

  • JACK BAUER saved the planet several times!! Show some respect!!!

  • thanks man, Mr slagman. That was nice to see.

  • Dear slagman,

'finger forward of trigger guard' grip, is a mental 'hook', that seems to come naturally to me, when I am shooting my BHP, and NOT shooting my revolvers. "finger forward=semi, finger back =gas blows back'. Remember, that little groove on the top of the cylinder strap above the force cone does NOT happen with age, alone, no? thanks for the video.

  • good video dude nice

  • Sorry bruce. lol

  • I'm not sure if you even bother with this video anymore, BUT. In the first right grip you show (the one right after the "jack bower grip") shouldn't your arms be slightly bent and not fully stretched? (So that the recoil doesn't go down your arms and into your body, if that makes sence. If you bend your arms the recoil will stay in your arms and not make you lose your aim) Pretty sure I heard that from a swedish national task force police instructor. Or are your ams slightly bent, and I'm blind?

  • failed asian tutorial

  • Eh, I still get a kick out of this video. It could do with less waving the gun around but I get the point. Another tip would be to push with your right hand, and pull with your left. That much more power and control over the firearm.

  • I think you outdated. lol

  • Thanks for the video, btw, stryker0331 you are such a loser.

  • The finger over the trigger guard was the technique taught by the US Army back in the 80's, I still use it today(probably why I dont like tac lites or lasers on a handgun).

  • hey dude, go watch jack bauer. and i'm actually married, i probably shouldnt keep talking shit cause you might pull out your stress card. fucking soldiers. You all suck so bad and think you're the shit. You're a loser, you have no life, you make stupid ass videos and are still visiting them 2 years later and your face is stupid. Go make some moto videos. oh wait, you can't cause you've never done anything but sit in the green zone pushing papers. No grunt would ever be so gay!

  • @stryker0331 Uh, so what's more proof that a person has no life? Someone who made a video 2 years ago or the person that goes to every video trolling for attention? Seriously, get a girlfriend, I promise you that you'll feel better and will no longer have this weird obsession with me...

  • @slagman5 Man you must have crapped in this stryker0331s corn flakes as a kid or something lol! Ever find out who he is? I think he loves you dude. Like really. And by the way I like the instructional stuff! Well done and I use your tips as I am an amatuer plinker.

  • @stryker0331 Wow your an idiot. He seems like the kind of guy who would have lots of friends though his humor was a little dull (Which made it HILARIOUS xD) Dont be bagging on him just because ur In a pissed off mood or something He is better than you in every single form and manner. So quit jacking off to porn every night and get a life -.-

  • @stryker0331 i'm sorry but you are an ass sir. why dont you get off you whiny butt, go to a range and dont be a dumb ass... on second thought, stay away from the range, and guns, do us a favor. thanks.

  • dont fuck with jack bauer

  • Ahaha! I love that tea cup transition, hilarious!

  • I just really hate you, i dont know why. you are just annoying. stop making youtube videos. Especially on guns. They suck!!! and you're really not teaching anything.

  • @stryker0331 Is someone forcing you to watch his videos? No? Then shut the fuck up and stop watching them.

  • hahaha that's fucking funny man... a tea cup lol good job dude

  • Gun video with a wife beater on FTW!

  • Get this guy a studio and producer!

  • @yaguinhobr Um... should safety only apply to things that are NOT DANGEROUS?? (and thus doesn't require attention to safety in the first place?)

    I don't understand...

How about we make safety instructions for handling a feather... yah... :-D

  • @slagman5 I'm just saying that is funny... safety instructions for something that was made to kill

  • @yaguinhobr Well, the point is not to kill yourself or anyone else you don't mean to... That's the point of the safety...

  • @yaguinhobr Well, yeah. There's safety instructions for all dangerous things in life. Weapons, heavy machinery, power tools, etc....anything that can mame, kill, or injure will have safety instructions.

  • @yaguinhobr fucking idiot

  • @yaguinhobr that's why you should never have a weapon in your hands. would you rather a friend of yours waving a gun around loaded with the safety off while your right in front of him. or would you rather the person knows and practices gun safety. when someone owns or just holds a gun they need to have respect for the weapon. it's not a toy. and just because you have a gun in your hands (this should be obvious) but it doesn't mean your out to kill someone. it's not the movies.. dude..

  • @yaguinhobr You must not be into guns then, I will explain. If you own a gun you don't want to shoot yourself obviously. We follow a certain number of rules like never put your finger on the trigger until your ready to shoot, never point the gun at anything your not willing to destroy and always safety check a gun every time you pick it up.

  • Jap cars can have muscle- VG30DETT. RB32DETT. ;)

  • you forgot the side-grappa Moste be the dumaste you can do with a semi-AOT gun movie hip hop gangsters in movies used to when you have pressed the trigger you get a cartridge in the face probably close to your eyes

  • "Tell me where the Bomb is or I'll pour hot tea on you"

  • looks like my springfield operator.

  • Well made how-(not)-to video. Good blend of instruction and a little humor. Interesting point about the finger in front of the trigger guard. I do that sometimes and never knew it was a minor safety issue.

  • aww...you left out that side ways thing those gang members do on TV...I know nothing about shooting and it still seems totally impractical to me.

  • hahaha nice one dude... nice one...

  • You said it. The "outdated 80's" grip was taught for recoil management. The standard issue back then wasn't a modern glock, but a heavy recoil 6 shooter. The old DAO revolvers were also clunkers, so they would drop to a knee and try to make the first shot count. And as far as the old Dirty Harry .44 mag w/o a compensator, it helps to hold your wrist so you don't break it.

  • @jessruss40 I've shot a .44 Mag revolver before, it's not THAT bad. But a .454 Casull or the new .500 Magnum is a different story...

  • @jessruss40 a .44 mag isnt going to break your wrist, i can handle rapid firing 6 rounds out of a 45LC one handed and its even a bit bigger than the .44 magnum.

  • @jessruss40 recoil can break a wrist?? im asking cause ive never heard of an accident involving a broken wrist due to recoil of a revolver.

  • @lisolangka

That would have to be a hell of a handgun and a hell of a bad grip to break your wrist. The only calibers that could possibly do that are .50 Action Express (which pretty much no longer exists), .500 S&W Magnum, or maybe a custom rifle-caliber handgun.

.500 S&W has a lot more punch than .50 AE, but .50 AE is more commonly used by idiots, since it's the proprietary Desert Eagle cartridge. The Desert Eagle is no longer produced, however.

  • @ootdega thats why i asked the same topic on that same person.

  • @lisolangka

    Ahh...Didn't read the whole conversation.

But hey, helpful information is helpful, right? :D *shot*

  • @ootdega lol.. i based it on his last sentence.

  • @Hondacivic772 Well, apparently you're the only one... Are you Asian? Because if you are, and you're a typical ricer, who's really the one making Asians look bad? Come on, drive something with some real torque and stop being a stereotype...

  • @Hondacivic772 im asian too. for one. u got honda civic as ur name. so thanks because now slagman is getting burns on us. (that was a good burn too dick) also rice burners and muscle cars are both good. u got a ricer that is fast because of gear ratio, air flow, and other shit that pushes a 4 banger to rival a muscle car. muscle cars are just strong because its got big ass pistons. ya lots of torque but i believe they occasionally equal eachother i got a crotch rocket. get some real speed.

  • @Hondacivic772 - How is he sad ? I can understand him completely although the echo in the room makes it a little shittier and I agree with the poster saying he makes asians look back with a user name like Hondacivic.. Way to fit the racial profile.. haha.

  • @saintsons12 Couldn't help myself, lol.

  • wait, do u butterfly use a butterfly style grip, or wat??

  • Great video, but please don't make any more wearing a tank top ... looks so trashy

  • @spamllpitdept I agree, sorry!! :-\

  • That was good!

  • Ok first you are right but Jack bower is the Freaking man lol he beat heroin didn't pee and saved Los Angeles in 24 hours...

  • @ORBIT

True, true, true, and true... lol

  • so tru!

  • I know your trigger finger isnt supposed to be in there, But im dying to see you do tho

  • lol. sorry bruce.

  • show me were the bomb is or i pour my ea on you that made me jizz lol

  • nice vid man!

  • No joke dude, you seriously are a straight up LEGEND!

  • lol jack baur...woop woop

  • Love the tea cup nice editing.

  • @rivemor Thank you :-)

  • ROFL are we drinking tea or shooting terrorist,I like how you find the time to make jokes while teaching well.

  • Good video. Ill keep that in mind even though I dont shoot real firearms just Airsoft blowbacks. Still good to keep in mind when I move up so Ill start now.

  • good info i did not know that.

  • good work you have here, I look forward to some tacticle shotgun videos in the future. Sites such as this help alot of us guys out when we are trying to teach our ladies the proper way to do things, ya know sometimes they need to see it comming from someone else before they get it.BTW I subbed also. thanks !

  • what kind of holster are you using? Great video! I subscribed, even though I'm a coffee guy, not tea! (sorry for the lame joke!)

  • Lol, thanks for subscribing. I'm actually using a pretty cheap holster made by Don Hume, but it works, so I'm not going to complain. :-)

  • i use a serpa blackhawk for my sprinfield xd 45. i love it.

  • hey i know nothing about guns but im learning alot through your videos about proper grip and other things i was wondering how do i go about gaining a gun license and what is the law on carrying ur gun once u get a license?..help me out

  • Nice vid bro... keep making them... I subscribed! =)

  • Thanks for subscribing! I have lots of new videos and video improvements in mind, just not much time to make them yet. Soon, though, soon.

  • That bruce grip is used by some world class champions though :)

  • I know, like I said, it's a good grip, but for regular concealed carry, for the sake of "safety" it is "recommended" not to use it. But I'm sure if you're experienced and you're sure your finger won't slip into the trigger guard, there's really nothing wrong with that grip.

  • Only when I am under severe stress or pain, but I find it works well.

The one thing that you should have pointed out is no matter what grip, that the other factors are to keep fingers away from the slide or you will have problems in the loading cycle... do not touch the slide at all, and when one works on that, the rest fall into place.

  • I'll let the pain teach that lesson to them... :-P

    just kidding... lol

  • Another argument I've heard against the "Bruce grip" is that wrapping your support index finger around the trigger guard actually decreases your overall grip strength for your support hand. I haven't really tested this out, but it seems to make sense.

  • The "Bruce grip" used to be called a combat grip, it was used/taught a lot in the 80s and early 90s. That's why some trigger guards have a place for that finger. I use it on smaller frame pistols if there is a combat guard on it. The poster is right though, the tea cup grip is pretty useless as far as control goes.

  • True mate. Some times Jack Bauer gets it wrong. Still its a good show. Anyways what do you think of a shooting grip (for a pistol) where its like the "Jack Bauer grip" as you call but instead of having your left hand on the bottom you have your hand bracing the back of your right hand to deal with recoil. Id try it out but I cant find any ranges in UK.

  • Hm, not sure what you mean by that. If you mean where you thumb goes around your wrist over the top, don't ever do that, the slide of the weapon will come back and slice you up. I've seen it happen, lol.

  • Thanks! Some good tips.

  • Good video man. Security guard lesson material.

  • Hey, if you use one of these grips, good for you. lol. Jack Bauer is a lot of people's idol, don't worry. ;-)

  • good video, but what is your deal with all the movie star mentions? is that where you learned all your stuff?

  • Yes, I learned all of the proper grips from all of the movie stars who grip their handguns improperly. Your deductive reasoning skills astound me.

  • dude that was a funny ass response lol. ignore them man there ignorance will someday get them.

  • But it's fun being a smart ass. :-) Ignoring them would be... too mature... ugh...

  • i know right lol i do it too man lol. its too fun not to.

  • Consider what you want, but if you want to consider yourself correct i can email you a power point class about drawing stances and grips that may give you a different(correct) poit of view.

  • Um, I don't see why you're getting so defensive, I never "argued" with you. I merely said those things are mentioned in a different category. I talk about weaver and isosceles in posture. In Weaver, your GRIP is the same, the difference is your posture, where you're at a "blade" type angle and you're shooting off to your weak side with your weak arm elbow bent. Trust me, I know what weaver is. You should worry about (correct) reading comprehension skills.

  • And it's good that you mentioned that the wrist grip is a real grip that is only outdated... It's not like I said that EXACT thing in the video like 14 times or anything... So thanks for bringing that to light...

  • I agree with 99% of this video. The other 1% is that you state "proper grip" the grip used is called isosceles, and there is one more"proper grip" called weaver. The wrist grip is out dated but was taught in the 70's with the 1911 actually, however you're right they are outdated for sure.

  • I consider those more stances than grips... When I say grip I'm mainly just talking about the hands interfacing with the weapon. How you hold your body is a posture thing.

  • I think someone got on top of Jack Bauer about his grip because it looks better,..you probably haven't seen the new season though.

  • Or maybe he saw my video! haha, just kidding. Someone else have told me that too. But you're right, I haven't seen any recent seasons.

  • I remember talking with you before and you said you served in the Army. This may be irrevelant to this video, but did you ever qualify on the M249? I was just curious about some questions about how it operates.

  • how do you like that mc operator... i got one on order right now

  • I LOVE it. It is by far my favorite handgun. I trust it with my life. No, I actually do, it's my carry weapon. I've never had a single malfunction with it yet. Hope that tells you something.

  • lol for point out at 24...but at least in the recent episodes...he has a pretty standard grip

  • I have a question regarding the 1911 style pistol. I was told that the proper way to grip a 1911 is with the strong hand thumb resting on top of the thumb safety. I am finding that really uncomfortable so i have switched to the thumb under safety. Here's my issue, i was told from fellow shooters that if i grip the 1911 like that i could accidentally hit the safety on which could be fatal in some situations (self defense). Any advice or is a 1911 just not for me?

  • That is called the high thumb grip. You hear all of these war stories about how you can accidentally activate it in a struggle, etc. etc. But the issue with the grip is that even if NO ONE interferes with you, using the high thumb grip creates pockets under your palm and you actually lose surface contact with the grip in many key areas including the grip safety.

  • So a more dangerous situation could occur, you don't fully depress the grip safety and your weapon fails to fire, with nobody interfering. So you have to ask yourself which is worse: the possibility of you activating your safety in a struggle, or the likelihood of your weapon not firing at all even with no struggle or interference at all. I asked myself that, and came to the conclusion that it's not worth it. And even if it fires, you lose some control because of the decreased surface contact.

  • Thanks for the advice, that made me think a little differently. I was watching lots of todd jarrett videos about the high thumb grip which most IPSC use, until i came upon a video interview with todd jarrett saying that he actually deosn't use active grip safety's on his 1911's due to what you said, that you may not always disengage the grip safety. thanks...

  • Exactly, Todd Jarrett is no fool. Some non-competition shooters have come up with the bright idea to disengage their grip safety as well so they can use the high thumb grip. This is actually a bad idea because if you use the weapon in self defense and kill someone. You WILL go to court, and the FIRST thing the prosecutor will attack you for is disabling one of the weapon's safeties. He can paint you as an irresponsible and blood thirsty gun holder with no regard to safety.

  • ROFL tell me where the bomb is or i'll pour hot tea on you! great video man

  • Hey hey hey, don't mock the hot tea. That can really hurt, especially if it gets in the eyes...

  • Or when its fresh! 2nd degree burns!!!ONEONEELEVEN!!

  • ill hold my pistol and way i damn please! SLUT

  • i LOL'd

  • weaver stance FTW!!!!

  • Wow, a gun enthusiast with a sense of humor. :P

Thanks, very interesting video - it removed a couple of misconceptions for me. I'll certainly pay more attention the next time I see someone holding a gun!

  • can i trade you one of my guns or a couple for your operator haha

  • shooting tea FTW!

  • LOL... the Jack Bauer.... Thats how ive always shot!!.... and ive been shooting for about 7 years now!... scary,..... Holy crap, i cant wait to go to the shooting range now....

  • lol that made me laugh

  • The finger over the guard grip is used for rapid fire. Try it and you'll see double taps are more controlled and accurate. It's actually the preferred method for spec ops and speed shooters the world over.

  • Didn't I say that it is a good grip and isn't wrong but isn't a preferred taught method due to potential safety risks? Competition shooting style and gear differ from their practical real life counterpart, and special forces operators can do many many things we should probably never try...

  • The biggest issue I have with the index finger of your non-firing hand over the trigger guard is the ability for it to lever the firearm out of proper alignment during rapid fire situations. I used that grip a while ago (in fact some of my older videos even show me shooting that way) but a few years back I stopped doing it. Not bad though, I just like to have a little extra control. Most of the guys on in my group feel the same way. By the way, great videos slagman5.

  • hahahah nice dude nice, funny and informative. nice job

  • little ufo's flying around lol, nice.

  • good vid! I use your proper grip just like Todd Jarrett. These 2 marines I know are telling me the way they were taught in the military is the Jack Baur grip lol, but they've never seen combat, they fixed planes (their primary focus is rifle, and handgun is last resort anyways). So I'll stick with Todd Jarrett ipsc champion.

  • Slagman, not to give you a hard time because I'm sure you know what you're talking about, but I've seen vids by ShootingCoach on YouTube where he demonstrates the cup and saucer grip and he says it's a perfectly fine grip. Is it just a matter of opinion?

  • It might be to him, but for me, it's a matter of how much it holds the weapon straight. Go ahead and try it yourself. Use the grip I show in my other video and try to turn it side to side and up and down, notice the comfortable position is straight, then try the cup and saucer, it's comfortable in all directions, the grip doesn't direct the hands straight like the grip I show. Nothing beats personal experience so try it yourself and see.

  • Thanks for your very courteous reply! I'll give it a go and see how it suits me. Your vids are very good by the way!

  • great vid, the hot tea part was hilarious

  • lol he takes out a cup and saucer

  • LOL, good vid transition with the teacup, had me in stitches!

Maybe touch on thumbs? I see allot of people with good grips but their thumbs are like stretching way out, or their thumbs are crossing over eachother

  • Yes, I realize I didn't really mention much about the thumbs... But I'm too lazy to make another video... But if anything, it would be a replacement for the grips video, not improper grips. I'll consider it... lol

  • But But But Bruce Willis rocks.....

    Good advise though thank you

  • I've actually remember seeing that wrist grip in the 2nd Resident Evil movie where an old cop was holding the gun like that. So in a way, it kinda makes sense

  • Ah, a shooter on youtube that's Asian. Good to see a brother show the other races we Asians know how to shoot too and properly.

  • You forgot another improper grip: gangsta style. =P

  • I didn't even think that was necessary to mention, lol.

  • Haha, apparently, enough people do it (in movies and probably even real life) for it to be well known.

It's nice to see another Asian shooter and one who did/does serve.

  • What puzzles me the most is these days actors actually get handgun training on the range to practice for their part in movies; however, despite being one of the first things learned in training, they still can't grip their pistol right!!!

  • It's called pride. A lot of these celebrities fight the training. They have this idea that you do it a certain way (probably from other movies they've seen) and when the weapons expert try to show them the correct way, they refuse to learn it because it's like they are telling them that they are wrong, and celebrities with big egos don't like that. Even though they are wrong, like 99% of the time, in everything... like politics...

  • I've always theorized it was a director's decision; directors thinking from a certain camera angle it just looked cool to hold it in the teacup & saucer way and to prevent the forearm from blocking the actor's face.

The only (so called) actor that comes to mind with a proper grip is Steven Seagal, but I guess directors have a hard time arguing with him.

  • Shooting terrorists or drinking tea...

    "What would you like today?"

    "One 'Jack Bauer' please!"

    LOL!

  • self defense does matter but self discipline is the best weapon when using the gun ..

    grips are keys ...excellent video!

  • haha very nice video...good information and had a luagh or two

  • Haha, sipping tea and shooting UFOs, awesome video!

  • Excellent video man !!! haha I've always seen the cup and saucer in movies

  • I guess the finger forward grip may be an unnecessary risk, especiall for a round trigger guard like the 1911. But you have to note that all the new DA/SA pistols have the trigger guard designed for the finger forward grip. The main problem I find with the grip is that the supporting hand sometimes pulls on the trigger guard, especially if you're practicing holding the gun with the weak hand.

  • Like I've said, it was the predominant grip method at a certain time so firearms manufacturers designed their weapons for it. Some of them still do it simply to satisfy the demand for it by some shooters, but it does not at all imply that it's the "correct" or "best" grip method.

  • And the reason for NOT wearing a shirt would be...?

  • I was at home, just be glad I was not in my boxers... Oh wait, I was in another video. Hey, I'm not going to dress up just to shoot a video, I do this on my spare time, I'm not getting paid... lol

  • Lol, guns and Tea. I added it as favorite.

  • Good advice, and great video!

How do you like the MC Operator? I am trying to decide between that and the Kimber Warrior and am looking for input on either.

  • Thanks! And funny enough, I just commented to a friend today just how satisfied I am with the MC Operator. I haven't kept an accurate count yet, but by now I've fired a good several thousand rounds out of it and still not a single malfunction to report. Very solid weapon. I highly recommend it.

  • I second that! I've had my MC Operator for about a month and have put 500 rounds through it with no malfunctions. Awesome gun.

  • Ah, a little humor and all, awesome stuff. It's really neat to know about this kind of stuff, even if I don't own a real fire arm, it's nice to see how they work in real world tactics and handling equipment in movies. :)

    Thanks!

  • Yah, I figure I try not to be extremely boring like most of my videos, lol, or like RRFCaptain's snore fests. Nobody will learn anything if they are not willing to watch it right? Thanks for the compliments. More to come soon!

  • excellent advice friend-o!

  • Thanks for the positive feedback! Please keep the feedback coming, even the negative ones so I can improve on my future videos! :-)

  • love the little tea drinking cameo!

  • Yah, I'm a retard, I know, lol. If you like what you see, subscribe and keep the feedback coming to help me improve my future videos!

  • I am just adding a watermark on all of my videos so I'm uploading them all again. No updates to them yet but some are coming soon.
