She must have heard the arrangements before committing it to a recording. I have never understood why she didn't pull the plug much earlier. The CD is terrible - i dont like the way she sings these songs either or maybe the vocal track is as badly recorded as the arrangements were written/executed , on some cheap keyboard.
The question is why her management did not negotiate the conditions for this recording. Actually I think there has been far too much attention to the James Bond Songs to the neglect of a vast and wonderful catalogue of recordings. I did have the cassette of this until it was damaged. I think thast the recordings should be remastered with an orchestra with DSB having a veto on the final result. I did like `all time high` and love Shirley`s entrance through the floor for `view to a kill on tv.
It's a pity the arrangement on this album is so bad, as DSB's voice is as great as ever! I love the pics too... wonderful video Thorneycroft1937! Thanks! I was wondering who the girl in the photo at 00:15 is... such a cute picture! Could it be her grand-daughter Tatiana? :)
I like Tom's Version , she sounds drunk like the cd in 1991 " Keep the music playing" I'm a big big fan but that cd was terrible, about 2 songs on it that didn't sound like she was drunk or just having a very bad day, No offence Dame Shirley. But when she sang those same songs live in her concert in Melbourne 1992 she sounded fantastic and was great, I still never play that cd and I've got all her LP's from the 70s and 80s.
It's time to set the record straight. Dame Shirley is the greatest female entertainer, ever. However, this particular Bond theme belongs to Sir Tom Jones. I stand by my comments.
Thunderball and Star Wars seem to have something in common,a new hope, that is to presume only that the songs are quite yummy

Am I the only one who thinks Dame Shirley looks hotter older than she did younger?
