The family (and many people who have left comments) thinks it is cute that Akira is "a roamer" but this is a serious problem. She could easily be hit by a car or stolen if they allow this bolting behavior to continue. They need to train her or give her to a family who can handle the responsibilities of being a pet guardian. The dog is probably smart, yes, but more importantly that dog is LUCKY. No matter how smart a dog is, that doesn't mean they are invincible. It does not mean they aren't in danger of being killed or stolen. Of course I am serious. Because matters of life and death and the responsibility we take for an animal's life when we bring him/her into our families is SERIOUS. Anyone who does not consider how dangerous this dog's "adventure" was cannot possibly care about animals. Period.

I'm not sure if you are saying Huskies should be left outside all winter. I sure hope not. Anyway, you should not keep any dog indoors 24/7 but you should NEVER leave a dog outside unattended, fence or no fence and no matter what kind of dog. Dogs, especially those who needs lots of exercise and enjoy being outside, should be walked or jogged with.

I have 2 HUSKYS and I have a 5 foot iron fence and the dog is tied on a 10 foot lead, she ate through the lead dug under the fence and ran away. This is very common of the breed, they are escape artists. EVEN BEST IN SHOW dogs have run away from their owners, this is a true husky!! U have to love them :)

If you really love your dog you would not let this happen. You would understand the danger she would be in if she runs away. No dog should be left outside unattended ESPECIALLY if they have a tendency to run away.

I would not say I "OWN" any dog but I live with and care for a very challenging dog, thanks. And I work with dogs all day every day. Obviously it doesn't matter how high a fence is if your dog digs under it! When you can't be with her outside, she should not be outside. I am not trying to attack you. I am trying to help you realize your dog could be safer.
